We live in Rutherford Co. and take our 6 kids and dogs to Lake Lure fairly often for family fun days. We usually get ice cream down at the place closer to the Chimney Rock entrance. However this time one of my kids wanted to try this place instead. A young trainee girl started helping us and was great, but halfway through us ordering, the supervsior/manager asked us to move down to the registers so she could get the people that just came in behind us even though we were still ordering. We weren't being slow, we had to wait for the trainee to finish one cone at a time before she asked us for the next one we wanted. We moved down a bit, but not too far as 2 of our kids were trying to show me what they wanted so I could order it. Again the manager asked us to move down so she could help the people behind us while our worker was still helping us. Again we moved down even further... Since I was near the register and no longer able to see what the the last two kids wanted to point to, we decided to only get 5 cones instead of 8. (2 kids and mine took our business to the other ice cream spot) The Manager wasn't rude, but she kept the same smiling face while she ordered us down the line like where you can tell someone is mad, but they have to keep smiling. This made the experience even more annoying. I said she didn't need to be mad instead she and the other girl could help the trainee. She just agreeing with me while smiling and saying she understood.... I wasn't mad, just dumbfounded by her poor managing skills. Why would you skip to the next order in line and leave a trainee to try and take a large order? 2 other people were back there with the trainee and could have easily helped her with our order first and got the line moving faster. Instead they chose to move us down where our kids couldn't see what they wanted anymore, further holding up our order... Makes zero sense...Then, by my own fault I didn't realize they were cash only so I had to hit up the ATM for a about a dollar as I only had 18 or 19 on me. I took out a 20 from the ATM and tipped the trainee the18 or 19 I had left... if it wasn't for how nice the trainee was, I would have gave this place a 1 star review. I mean really...who doesn't take credit cards nowadays? And what type of manager wouldn't help a trainee on a large order.?Instead they lost some of our business today and all of our business in...
Read moreThis place was great for the variety of ice cream. They do have places on the ground for you to step on for social distancing but some of the patrons don't follow instructions.
Everyone had social distancing and were doing good until I realized they were so close behind me that when I turn my body to look at other flavors on the left I actually hit the man with my shoulder and elbow as I turned.
When I looked everyone was all pushed in tight because they wanted to see what others flavors were there instead of waiting for their turn.
It was only when I asked the server "Aren't you all supposed to uphold the social distancing". Why are these people so close behind me which were adults then kids/teenagers. It was then that the young lady employee started asking people too move forward that we're done in front of us and trying to get the people behind us to move and keep their distance.
I don't know if it was just regular employees there and or a manager present but whoever was in charge should have spoken up instead of worrying about repercussions from customers because the employees were doing what social distancing guidelines were out there for them to run their business.
Other than that we had a delightful experience my husband got the salted caramel and I got the blueberry cheesecake and the banana pudding in waffle cones. All of our ice cream tasted amazing but I will save my favorite was absolutely the banana pudding one.
The pricing was justified for the quality and quantity served it does have a little sit-down area inside but the line going in and around to the ice cream was probably about two foot three at the most distant scene from the tables so we went outside to the tables with umbrellas and we're able to keep the social distant scene because I had placed the tables the six or more feet apart.
When we come back to visit we will absolutely be visiting this place because of how good it was and with it having 61 flavors you just can't beat that along with the service the young lady provided us, she was so nice...
Read moreThey did a terrible job of putting a scoop of ice cream on my kids sugar cone so it immediately fell off the cone. I picked up the ice cream out of the floor so it wasnt a hazard for anyone, and naturally got ice cream all over my hand. I thought someone would have offered me a towel or napkin to wipe off my hand but instead we were told to keep moving because we were holding up the line. Needless to say, I wont ever visit your establishment again and I will tell everyone how rudely I was treated. Do a better job, how hard could it be to put ice cream in a cone so it doesn't immediately fall off? Then you treat me like I'm the problem and I'm holding up your line. I should have left the mess in floor and let you clean it up, what joke your...
