We purchased our Mathews Mattress a year and a half ago from the Citrus Heights location. We bought the "Michelle" Pillow Top from their “Premium Collection”. The service in the store was stellar! Our salesperson, also the manager was Porter. After a year the mattress was sagging and had impressions of nearly two inches on both my wife’s side and mine. I went to the store where again I experienced nothing but professionalism. The salesperson working let me know that we had bought one of their best and top-selling mattresses. He also said it had a 20 non-prorated warranty. He showed me the new Michelle mattress. I told him my situation and he said they would send the warranty team out to check it out. He put everything in the computer and said I would hear from them in 3-4weeks. He explained due to covid everything was taking longer. At just about 5 weeks I heard from them and they scheduled a time to come out. They were a couple of hours late but did call to let us know they were running behind. They measured the impressions and said yes, based on what they saw it would be exchanged. They said it would take 4-6 weeks before it could happen. Again, blaming covid. Getting frustrated because I had not heard a word, I tried to call them. I made a few calls to the warranty department always getting voicemail, leaving messages every time. Finally, I got a call from the warranty manager who wanted to meet at a store to see what mattress we would like to exchange it for. I told him I wanted the same one, the Michelle. He informed me that I had was last year’s model and this year’s model had a few upgrades so it would cost $500 more. What the??? He could tell I wasn’t happy about this and offered to meet me halfway at $250. I called a couple of their stores and went into one asking about the price of the Michelle… yes, the retail was a little higher, however, every one of their stores said they would sell me the mattress for the same price I paid for mine. When I told the warranty manager that he held his ground and would not budge on the $250 exchange price. I reluctantly agreed. I have to tell you this was worse than any car buying experience ever… Hell, I was worse than dealing with Comcast! Nearly 4 months after the initial complaint, the new mattress was delivered… again two hours late, but it got here. Truly the in-store experience was outstanding, but that’s where it ends. Based on my experience with the Mathews Mattress Warranty department manager, Patrick, I will not be purchasing anything from them again. Nor will I refer them to anyone. After deciding we really needed to test a mattress we went into Matthew’s Mattress in Citrus Heights. A gentleman named Jason greeted us and pointed us in the direction of the firm mattresses. He was super knowledgeable and helpful. There were a ton of mattresses for testing but when we found the Michelle pillow top mattress we knew we’d found our match. As we were sitting down to finalize details he asked if we had any family in the military, and I mentioned our nephew, who serves in the Navy. Jason immediately got on the phone with Mr. Matthews, the owner, and asked if he could extend us the military discount. Mr. Matthews said yes, so long as we thanked our nephew for his service and recommended his mattress shop to anyone who was in the market. We are happy to do both! We really appreciate the time Jason and Mr. Matthews took to save us some money. That is very rare these days. After finalizing the delivery details and purchase. On the date of delivery the movers called and texted with a 45 minute lead time, and again at 30 minutes. They were prompt and polite, and a pleasure to work with. We had been warned that the mattress needed a breaking in period but it was so comfortable the first, night, and every night since. I am so glad we made the decision to go to Matthew’s Mattress first. They are a small local business who have served this community for years. Read moreI have bought a few mattresses in the past online, it was an ok mattress. I started having back pain and new it was time for a new mattress. After hours searching the web and looking at all the options I decided I needed to go in person. My first two stops were hard sell salesman. They were more interested in the sale than my comfort. I searched on Yelp and found Mathews. Great reviews, I will give it a try. WOW. No hard sale. And great relevant information. The manager had me try various mattresses increasing in softness until I felt it was the one. He left me to roll around and settle in a good while. Finally, I made my selection. The purchase was great, delivery was exceptional and OMG I am sleeping like a baby! At first, I thought it was too soft, but I didn't have a backache in the morning, so I slept well. After now a week or more I anticipate crawling into the most comfortable, softest, yet supportive mattress ever. Thank you so much for helping me identify what I needed. I am so grateful. I love this mattress and will forever more use Mathews Mattress...
