Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews — Restaurant in Citrus Heights

I came here cause I was at the sunrise mall. It was the closet place I could think of that I could still do keto. I get there and the place is busy but not super busy. Also they had a lot of staff working. My wait for some reason was 15 mins but whatever. So I get in and I'm seated and told your server will be right with you. I said okay thank you. While I'm waiting for my server I look over the menu. After that I wait, and wait, and wait. I had been sitting there for a good 15-20 mins before the server finally comes and asks what would I like to drink. I said I'm actually ready to order as well. I give her my order. Which was Avo-Cobb salad, ice tea and a water. I sat there and wait, and wait, and wait some more. It had be about a good 20-30 min wait. I still didn't not have my ice tea or a water. During my waiting I watched a party 4 and a party of 6 get there drinks before me, and appetizers. Also these parties showed up 15-20 mins after I placed my order. Finally my foods shows but I still don't have my drinks. Finally 5 mins later my server shows up with my drinks. 5 mins after my server dropped off my drinks she shows back up and asks how is everything. I said it's fine thank you. Something in my head said I should have asked for a box right then, but I didn't. I finished eating about 10-15 mins after that. Now I'm back to the waiting game just to get a box for my food. As I'm waiting a staff member is walking by I stop her and ask her for a box. She responded with yeah I'll get you a box. She walks off and never brings a box. Instead she stays up front with about 4 others standing around, giggling and laughing and just talking away. As I'm sitting there just wanting a box to leave this, a manager walks right pass me and starts joking around with these young kids. At one point he starts asking them what they did this weekend and any good parties?? Ummm are you serious right now. I believe this manager name was Joe. Instead of make sure the customers are happy he's more interested in want these young kids are doing.. Finally my server shows back up and asks is there anything else I can get you. I said yes a box please. She says okay I'll be right back with that. Well she instead stops at the table of they party 4 and party of 6, and brings them refills on there drinks. At this point I'm getting so livid with the service that I am receiving, I'm about to blow up on someone. My server finally shows up with my box. I pay my bill and leave. I hope that real management actually reads this. This is completely unacceptable services I have ever received. Also I would definitely not recommend this place. Run; go somewhere else. The food was pretty good but the service was pretty pathetic to say the least. From the beginning we had to move seating twice and ended up in an extremely busy and congested area of the restaurant where our server was obviously overwhelmed as she couldn't remember our order or even getting us refills, telling us to pay with the mobile gadget on the table which she then remembered didn't work. We had to ask for items such as a straw 5+ mins after I got my soda, then refills 2 to 3 times and after she forgot multiple times, in the end she forgot to bring us a container for the left overs and a cup for my cream soda (which she forgot to refill on two occasions and was full when we were getting ready to leave). My husband went to pay up front and the gal at the counter told him he needed to take it to the server he told her the wait is like 15 mins to get anything; she took the receipt but upon her return she told my husband "next time you're just going to have to wait for your server" ... my husband never complains about service but he was so upset at her reaction especially after everything... Almost $50 for 2 burgers (one almost burned burger when both were ordered medium rare) and a grill cheese for our 4 yr old and we wanted to do a lil dessert for our daughter who turned 1 today but after waiting for soo long we knew we weren't going to be able to order anything else because of the long wait times. But for high priced burgers the service should be match. Again, food was pretty good, aside from the over cooked burger reason for the 2 stars but the service was pretty terrible. Our server mentioned that she'd been working 8 days straight and I did feel bad for her, why i didn't return the overcooked burger but at the same time, she should vent to Management-- my husband did tell the gal in the front that they really need to hire more servers. He was still going to tip our server but after that last comment from the host at the front desk he said screw it...

i used to crave their burgers once a week. last visit was mediocre. Customer service was much better and people were very attentive.

after being seated all 5 of us, it took them a while to figure out who will be waiting on us. The guy who was cleaning up was taking care of us and being more attentive than our waitress. she was rude and seems that she was having a bad day and impatient. i did ask the gentleman who was cleaning the tables to be our waiter but he said he won't be allowed. i would have given him the biggest compliment and tip no matter how bad he would have been. he was super nice and making sure all was ok with the food and orders.

anyway after getting seated and orders placed, the waitress informed us that a basket of fries can only be delivered prior to us getting our food. the basket arrived with 5 fries in it. I hope they didn't count how many were seated on the table and got us one stick to each.

Our order came about 40 min afterwards, many other people who have ordered after us got their food prior to us.

My wife ordered the Black and Blue burger(Sautéed portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, creamy cheese sauce, Bleu cheese crumbles, shredded romaine and roasted garlic aioli) well done wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun. she got her burger wrapped in lettuce with a slice of Tomato, with blue cheese sprinkled over her burger. By the time the waitress came to the table to check if the food was ok was 15 min later. By that time another server was bringing us the fries. When the waitress decided to show up, she simply apologized and wanted to take it back tot he kitchen to get it fixed after my wife has eaten almost half of it. At that time she was starving and finishing her burger by herself. the manager came and apologized after confirming the mistake and got her another burger.
