My husband and I and our cat stayed at this place under DSS from early September of last year until today (4/16/24). Things were going good for a little while until we started getting treated like second citizens. The person who used to be in charge of a the DSS people there, Sean, was awesome at first until his true colors showed and started acting nasty for no reason. The owners are hardly ever there but their sons, who are managers, do not know what they’re doing at all! They can’t run a hotel properly. They keep changing the rules for the DSS people and literally treat us like we’re children and like inmates. They would make us change rooms every 3 weeks which was very stressful because they rush you and they want you to sweep the floors and and wipe down the room before we move to the next room which is ridiculous because they have housekeeping there yet when housekeeping comes during the day a few times a week, one of the rules is you have to let them in to clean up your room or you’ll get scolded….now how does that make sense? It doesn’t! Plus when we do let them in to clean they don’t do the best job. Besides collecting dirty hotel towels and sheets, make the bed, and change the garbage and they’ll sweep but they don’t get the corners and they even left one side of the room unclean. Plus they took 2 of my personal towels when collecting the dirty hotel towels but the strange part was they left one of the dirty hotel towels in the bathroom but yet they took mine which were worn and faded. They need to pay more attention to what they’re doing when cleaning somebody else’s room. I even reported it to the managers but they did nothing about it. That’s not the first time they’ve taken my towels either. Management could care less about us. Just as long as they get paid. My husband and I were always respectful, polite, stayed out of all the drama that goes on there every single day, and we never were any kind of disturbance to anybody. But because we’re under DSS, doing right by the hotel meant nothing to them. The are unrealistic rules too like one baggage per person, no sexual activity (including married couples), no pets, etc. and in the beginning the hotel said pet friendly but I guess that’s only for the guests now. There are roaches and mice in the rooms every now and then. I’ve seen a bunch of roaches in multiple rooms I’ve stayed in. One of the rooms we stayed in had mold growing in the corner of the room in between the wall and ceiling and we had to stay in that room for a few days because no other rooms were available at the time. Another room we were in had a leak in the ceiling which dropped down causing a huge puddle on our dresser. Luckily none of our things got ruined. And whether anybody wants to believe this or not, there’s paranormal activity that happens there. I’ve had encounters with some of the phenomenon events that happened while we were living there. Staff have told me they’ve seen spirits here. The Long Beach Hotel used to be an insane asylum and the basement was a morgue back in the day. Many people died here back then. That explains all this paranormal activity. If you try to search for the history of this hotel it won’t show you anything about the asylum. The only history you’ll find is about when the hotel first opened up. So now that all the negative things are done being said, the only positive things I have to say are about the staff members. All the staff members were good to us and we appreciate everything you’ve done. My husband and I connected with Josh and Ken the most. Thank you both for your friendly hospitality as well as the other staff members.

Do not stay here. Hypodermic needle in my bed. You can’t make this up. Not sure what could have happened. How cleaning crew did t notice! Or was it one of them? This is the email I sent and never got a response. Hello, I wanted to thank Josh and Aaron (matched my $161 found online but couldn’t for Friday) at first for our smooth check in. I had an issue with my room (hypodermic needle in my bed…what) Josh upgraded us immediately as I and he kept calm during this whole story and transaction. I told Josh there was an issue with the Friday the night reservation and I needed to check out Sat as we only reserved the one night Thurs-Friday. He hurried me off to relax and assured me it will all be taken care of (knows customer service). I spoke to a nice man Friday AM (seemed like the owner as he was talking with a man he clearly knew about getting money from the government, Covid money) and he said he’d make sure it was taken care of at the $161 rate. I got a call at 12:35pm (when I was in Fire Island for the day) someone letting me know I was to check out today and my stuff was still in the room. I had been more than cordial throughout all of this, until Matt (manager on supposedly) started to get rude and told me he can put me in a king room for a much higher rate than the $161 (not to mention I should have gotten the night at no charge with the initial needle in my bed). Long story short he told me “they would pack up my things and I should find another hotel.” They did!! I have never been treated like this and after I was so cordial and calm with Josh and initially with Matt. This is incredibly disappointing to say the least. I’ve included the pictures for your viewing. First one was when I took a picture to show how sweet and elegant (to my surprise as I had no idea) the room was. Then… I noticed the needle.

Gross hotel. The photos on the website do not reflect what the hotel actually looks like. It’s missing the basic amenities. No ice bucket, no chain lock to secure your door, you can see through the cracks of the door at night, light shines through from the hallway. You can hear EVERYONE around you. Toilets flushing, couples fighting, people throwing up in the morning. Stains on the walls, bathroom was not cleaned well at all. There were small hairs in the tub, and the soap container was filthy. I’m not sure what the cleaning people are cleaning when they go in the rooms, because they miss a lot. Some of the outlets don’t work in the room. Our key card stopped working one night and when we asked the front desk why, the first staff member advised it was from our phone being near it which was incorrect. The second staff member advised our card stopped working because the system showed our room to be vacant even though they knew the room had been booked for multiple nights. They advised someone had gone to our room to check it, which means someone had entered our room without our knowledge. They never thought to contact us to advise us that this issue had occurred. It appears they may need to hire more competent staff. The sheets on the bed are dark blue which means they are unable to be bleached. There are no “ocean view” room. It’s not on the beach just FYI. Bed was comfortable, only good thing. I’d rather sleep on a bench on the boardwalk than stay there again. Shameful excuse for a hotel. Needs a good cleaning and maybe more micromanagement of the staff. Additional locks need to be added to the doors, that is a major safety issue!

He has a camera in his window aimed at the hotel balcony. His window is the second window starting from the top down in one of the cuts. Any time he sees people on the balcony at night including my husband and I, he turns his light on and walks over to the camera and a little white light comes on and you can see it from the balcony. Sometimes you’ll see him trying to peek out the window while recording. I took pictures and videos of his window from the hotel balcony while he was recording me and I took pictures and videos of his silhouette spying through the window for physical evidence so that way if I decided to call the cops and report this guy for violation of privacy, I'll have the proof to back me up. So beware of that...
