I feel bad saying this. I love their food, I was just in there I don’t really come in a lot it’s a treat for sure. I read the sandwich board menu made my selections. I told the girl I would like a Washington after I ordered my moms, and she asked about what to put it on I said a wrap:) she asked about lettuce and tomato… I got confused thought I ordered something different so I asked if tomato and lettuce usually come on it? She said she has to ask everyone? So I said no thank you just what comes on it for that sandwich… we kinda went back and forth I had no idea what I was doing wrong, I just wanted it exactly like the menu? I must have not been clear because there was nothing on it but meat and the Russian dressing. Normally I don’t say things but for me 9$ for half a wrap at a nice deli/ bakery etc. I guess i don’t understand who it got lost in translation. Between that and no greetings from any other associates? The gentleman who handed me my sandwich was very polite. It’s maybe the second or third time I’ve been here in a whole year. I love their food but the service confusion today wasn’t so much making me angry I just don’t get a lot of time to go into the specialty stores so it was a disappointment and now I won’t be going back unfortunately because I just don’t get enough time to keep going and not making it a more pleasant experience. I hope the feedback is received not as picking but just some feedback. Also I have cognitive issues so I try to stay going to...
Read moreFirst, let me say that you don't go to Putnam Market for the ambience or decor; you go for the food. The interior is tiny and cramped with tables & racks jammed with product all over. In wet weather, the floor gets really dirty & slippery; so watch your step. There are small tables to eat at, but I've never tried because they're in direct walk paths & people are banging in together all of the time. The interior gets 1 star & that is being kind, but no one goes for that. The food is what brings people in & keeps them coming back. The tables & racks are full of specialty teas, candies, condiments, cookies and more. They make make great gifts for yourself or others. The soups & breads are amazing even if you have to stand inside to eat them. For me, it's the bakery that brings me back. The cakes, cupcakes, macarons, etc are divine. I always go pick some up of each to serve people. Their gluten free cupcakes are wonderful too. The prices are fair for the quality of goods. There is often a line, so be prepared to wait; it's worth it. The food definitely gets 5 stars. This place used to be on Putnam St (hence the name) and was much bigger. They moved to this small shop on Broadway a few years ago. It's small, on a corner by the stairs leading to parking garage one street over and easy to miss. However if you are in Saratoga, make sure to find it and buy something; just...
Read moreIt was Skidmore grad weekend and they accommodated a last minute order for a funeral. We ordered a Caesar Salad, stuffed bread with dip and veggies, a gluten free treat tray, and 100 meatballs.
The great...the gluten free tray was excellent. Everything was moist and tasty, especially the almond cookies!
The good... the caesar.. was chopped up romaine with a decent amount of cheese. They do provide lots of croutons and a good amount of dressing but very tough to screw up a Caesar.
We ordered tomato parmesan meatballs. We paid online and had a friend pick up. When we walked in the house, something smelled off. Turns out, it was the wrong type of meatballs. Everyone makes mistakes. Human error is just that.. human. When they found out, they refunded us in full for the meatballs. Businesses that stand behind their product and offer excellent customer service are rare so thank you to Gloria and the team at Putnam for taking a last minute order on a busy weekend and for making it right when a...
