We decided to visit family in Palm Harbor for New Year's Eve. I'm a member of Marriott rewards and used 30,000 point to book this room. For starters, it's in a very sketchy neighborhood. Being a level 6 hotel and requiring the amount of point to book, 10,000 more than other nearby Residence Inns, I thought this place would be in a better location than it was. My wife was worried about parking the car in this neighborhood. Luckily nothing happened to it.
I've always heard stories of the cleaning staff not completely cleaning a room but I never thought I would experience it first hand. When the wife and I arrived in the room, she noticed an odd smell and decided to inspect things closer. First we checked the bed. When we pulled the bed covers back, we saw yellow spots on the sheets. Next the bathtub had some soap scum in the tub and the vanity had soap/toothpaste spots on the bottom of the mirror and on the backsplash/sink. The hand towels hung by the sink had hair and stains on them. My sister-in-law was going to be staying with us that night, so we checked the bed-in-a-bag. The pillow had a huge yellow stain on it. We immediately notified the front desk. They sent up a cleaning lady and the cleaning staff manager, Debbie. The manager noticed the same things we did and began to apologize profusely. I will say Debbie did an excellent job trying to rectify the situation and moving us to another room. She was an exemplary example of customer service.
We moved our stuff to the new room and had to leave promptly to make our gathering. When we returned later that night, we noticed the new room smelled worse than the first one. It had that "attempted to cover up a previously smoked in room" smell. Since it was after midnight and moving rooms or hotels wasn't feasible, we simply stuck it out and decide to go to bed. But it wasn't over yet. The bed-in-a-bag had a twin size cushion pad for the queen size sofa bed and the blanket in the bag had hair stuck in it. I began to wonder what the cleaning staff did there because cleaning the rooms was not it. The last icing on the cake was the air handler in the room made a lot of noise that made sleeping a challenge.
If I'd had known it was this bad, I wouldn't have wasted the extra 10,000 points. If you have a choice,...

I recently completed an extended stay of three weeks at the Residence Inn by Marriott Clearwater Downtown, and if I could give it 10 stars, I absolutely would! This hotel is an absolute gem and exceeded every expectation.
The entire experience was peaceful and restorative. I loved it so much that I extended my stay multiple times and the staff made keeping my original room seamless and stress-free.
Top-Tier Comfort and Convenience The accommodations here are outstanding. The room was incredibly spacious and felt like a true apartment, not just a hotel room. The fully stocked kitchen was a lifesaver for an extended stay. And truly, the beds are a dream—I haven't slept this well in months. The terrific, fresh breakfast buffet was the perfect start to every morning.
Unbeatable Location You simply cannot beat this location for convenience and access to everything Clearwater has to offer:
Clearwater Beach: A quick 7-minute drive.
Clearwater Marine Aquarium: Just 6 minutes away.
Pier 60: Only 11 minutes to enjoy the sunset celebrations.
Dining & Shopping: Less than 10 minutes from top-rated restaurants and the vibrant boardwalk.
The Defining Factor: Exceptional Service & Pet Friendliness What truly sets this hotel apart is the phenomenal staff. Every single team member I interacted with was amazing, genuinely helpful, and kind. Whether I needed assistance or had a quick question, they were always ready with a smile and a solution.
As a traveler with a service dog, the hotel provided a critical and thoughtful amenity that made my stay effortless: the walking path and pond area right behind the hotel. Being able to easily and safely walk my dog every day and evening was the single most important factor for my peace of mind and cemented my decision to stay here so long.
If you are looking for an extended stay, traveling with a service animal, or just want the perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and world-class service, look no further. Highly,...
Read moreMy biggest complaint about this place are the stinky hallways, (like wet dog and flatulence) This is our second stay. We had to do laundry this time. GROSS LAUNDRY ROOM ON 2ND FLOOR, old jenky machines, and zero air conditioning in the laundry room. Zero. I'm sitting here, now, hoping my clothes don't come out smelling worse. The dryers are all rusty inside. I'm very dissapointed because I really like the rooms and staff. But this laundry room was sadder than a college one. I had to take a star away just for that disgusting experience.
Mostly clean, sweet- accomidating staff. The bathroom had some dust bunnies and our duvet had a red mystery stain. The staff fixed it and changed our whole bed for us. The furniture was worn, and more like outdoor upholstery, but not gross. What I really liked is that they provided plenty of towel racks, a dishwasher, and a very nice staff. The gentleman, Randall, that worked until 11pm was super nice and his relief at night was a very considerate and smart woman. (I'm a night owl). Parking was not awesome. And the neighborhood was a little sketchy. Would I book here, again? Sure! Despite the stinky hallways and icky laundry it's an awesome place to stay! There was a very nice woman working the front desk in the morning. We had been waiting for an oxygen concentrator for my Mom from Fed Ex. So we could fly. We were supposed to get it the previous week. We had list hope. She knew we needed it. The wheelchair van had arrived to take us to the airport, was loading my Mom up, and comes the Nice Woman running to catch us! We had checked out. She could have refused delivery. But she came and got us! Seriously, the staff? They go...
