Mixed experience for Saturday brunch. Cute spot on the corner, great location. Diner environment. Got their special Greek salad platter was nothing special, nothing I couldn’t have thrown together at home in 5 minutes. Prices were fair. The chicken breast was pretty moist but no seasoning. Very bland. Could have used some Greek seasoning or salt and pepper. I added my own. Coffee was decent. Not great. Like Waffle House quality. My daughter had the waffle with fruit toppings and although she liked it ok, it wasn’t great. Prices fair so 2 coffees and 2 simple mediocre entrees for $39 bucks. Stashed under the counter was bottles of log cabin syrup can buy at Walmart. Greek dressing tasted bottled like get at Walmart. The lady at the counter was nice, but there was a male server who we could overhear complaining about everything to her each time when he would come to run food out. It seemed they tried to ignore him and were used to this from him, but it was unpleasant with him doing that constantly especially being so intimately sat at the counter having to hear him each time. Another girl worker stood way close to us just staring standing way too close, there is not much space so the complainer and starer were crowding us. We wanted to like it more. But it also didn’t feel clean. When we arrived to sit at the counter where someone had been sitting before we arrived had a napkin and coffee mug there and the lady did a few minimal strokes of a wet rag partially wiping off the counter, it was super packed, seems locals were frequent flyers but not eating as much as shooting the bull over coffees. Not there for the food which kinda made sense. I liked the nice lady at the counter. But outside of that, the food was not great. We saw piles of coffee flavor syrup bottles but we were not offered any just individual half and half’s. The 3 stars are for the lady at the counter being nice. My daughter did not find it to be at all friendly. And being crowded by the girl the whole time just standing there staring around, the overall uncleanliness and the guy complaining constantly took away from the enjoyment. Our least favorite Clearwater brunch experience in over 2 years. Disappointing after such good reviews. We expected better. We won’t be back. Food wasn’t picture...
Read moreIn the downtown Clearwater area for a Dr visit, this place looked interesting, had great ratings and was nearby. Plus our Dr was between breakfast and lunch so a brunch spot was perfect. Found Tin Can easily, parking a bit tight but ok.
This a small homey diner and obviously very popular with locals. They were very busy at early lunch but we lucked into the only open table for two. We were brought menus and waters right away. My wife chose the Waffle with strawberries, bananas, whipped cream and chocolate. I decided on the Spanish Omelette with beef, onions, jalapeños and cheese.
It was a bit for our food but understanding with the number of diners present. When our food arrived, the plates were huge. Mine came first and my wife wanted to share, so I cut off a section and put on my toast plate for her. It also came with salsa and sour cream, that the waitress forgot. After a couple reminders, I asked another server and he brought salsa, but I never got the sour cream. By now it was cooling off so I ate my 3/4 portion. And my wife shared 1/4 of her amazing Waffle.
Both meals were excellent and huge portions. I guess because with locals they do tend to chat with the waitstaff. Not a huge problem but I suggest late breakfast or lunch to...
