The location is good for downtown Cleveland activities, and the rooms were ok, and the staff we talked to were generally nice. Beyond that, it was the most frustrating Hampton Inn experience we have ever had. Some of this is beyond management's control as the space is poorly designed: dark rooms with small windows that face the inner space between buildings; valet parking has a small curb on a major downtown street; 3 elevators for a hotel that was at least 12 stories tall; and a small lobby that overflows with people in the morning as folks eat breakfast, wait for elevators, valet, and ubers all in the same space. However, some of it is management's responsibility, especially the valet. When we checked in, the valet curb was 8 cars deep (double parked), which meant we had to circle the block a few times until we could fit our vehicle into the area, and we were still double parked and blocking a driving lane. That was frustrating enough, but we rolled with it, chalked it up to the holiday, and hoped for the best. However, check-out was beyond words. It was Saturday, July 5th, and we got in the valet queue at 10:15 a.m, and we were number 7 at that time. One valet attendant was working. We waited for an hour to get our car, as did everyone else trying to leave the hotel that mid-morning. And by 10:15, we had already waited in the lobby for 15 minutes to get a luggage cart, another 5 minutes to get on the elevator to go back up to our room to get our luggage, and another 5 minutes to get back down to the lobby. We tried to give the hotel the benefit of the doub as we presumed someone had called in for their valet shift on this particular morning, but when we turned in our rooms keys and made mention of the valet backlog the front desk proceeded to state that this is a normal occurance with this particular valet attendant. According to the front desk staff, she wants to work solo so that she can collect all the tip money and she creates a fuss when the hotel brings another valet member in for checkout. Whether all of this is true or not is beyond me, however, we will not stay here again, and for all the Hilton Honors members out there, we suggest looking at any of the other Hilton properties in the greater Cleveland...
Read moreI called and spoke with someone in their reservation department. I asked about a room and was given a price. I accepted the price based on what I understood the woman to say. $119 for the night. I asked her to repeat and that is what I heard. Mind you there is a huge language barrier and both of us spent the better part of 10minutes asking each other to repeat what the other had said. I booked! I immediately received my confirmation with a price closer to $500. I called immediately. The front desk said that is our rate. If you'd like to escalate allow us to transfer you to our reservations department. After explaining my situation to another individual with who I again encountered a massive language barrier with I was told that the Front Desk needed to be contacted. The front desk informed us that we cannot cancel because that is their policy. Even after I explained the language barrier and how it was almost impossible to communicate properly I was then transferred to a "higher" level of service. After listening to the entire story her first solution is to.... call the front desk! Who of course told her what they told me, and the other lady. They refuse to help. I am stuck paying $500 for what I thought was a $120 hotel room. My company travels a lot. We book hotels at least once a week every week of the year. It really stinks to lose $400 because another corporate company decides to outsource their help creating so much tension and stress on what is supposed to be an easy process. Yet here is am trying to book a simple hotel room and I have to answer the same questions 5-6 times. Repeat myself 5-6 times. Ask to be put on hold for 5-10 minutes at a time. All while trying to make sure you are being charged properly. If this is customer service then the hotel industry is absolutely god awful and shame on us for continuing to support these most elite who could care less about our comfort. Despite the millions, they spend in advertising to tell you...
Read morePlanned a fun moms night out in Cleveland to celebrate our friends birthday and go to the Savanna Banana game so we booked a hotel downtown close to the baseball field that we paid over $600 a night for and we arrived to the hotel at the time of check in so our room was ready …. So we thought . We went to our room 1209 and we did the intitial walk through only to have found a dog feces on the floor and upon further inspection realized the floor had not been swept at all and in the bathroom the floor was very sticky assuming it was dog urine because the bathroom had an oder to it . So we called the front desk and they were very unapologetic and sent someone up to clean while we were in the room and she asked if we were going to use the pull out couch and we said yes so she said we would need clean linens for the bed( which was not pulled out so how did he know they were dirty ) and they were dirty because when we pulled out he couch it was not made and there was crumbs on it so at that point we had had it so we went to the front desk and asked if we could get someone sort of compensation and they said no sorry you booked through a 3 rd party so there is nothing we can do so we went back to our room and waited for someone to comeback in and probably clean the room and we waited 30 mins then they called back up and asked if we could go to dinner or something because we couldn’t be in the room when they were cleaning so we just said we would leave to go to the game. They did tell me all they could do was give me reward point and I checked this morning and I received $11 dollars in rewards . Then when we got back from the game and the room was “cleaned “ we pulled the duvet off the bed and there was makeup on it and the fridge was dirty … overall for over a $600 room and for us not causing a scene and being very polite about the situation because we didn’t want this to ruin our night we just sucked it...
