I went with a group of people, 4 of us to be exact, to this beautiful spot to have a good brunch and some great drinks. We got there at 3pm, and were seated immediately. It was busy so we were happy we were seated so quickly. We got water and silverware and then we sat. We sat for 40 minutes at least. People were served around us, and we flagged some one else down who said they'd get our waitress, but we sat. When our waitress came, there was no hey guys sorry for the wait, or hey my name is so and so, or any type of apology for continually passing us for 40/45 mins. It was Yall ready to order? When I tell you I got instantly annoyed. We order our food and drinks, and then we wait another 15 mins for our drinks. I ordered bottomless mimosas, and everyone else just ordered a single mimosa. We sat and talked, and every time my glass was empty, i had to wait 10 mins or so to even get a refill. Fast forward an hour and change later, at almost their closing time, they brought out our food. I ordered the veggie omelet, and side of bacon and had breakfast potatoes. Our food sat for a while, as my potatoes were rubbery and the bacon was hard, the catfish dish my friend had the grits were hard and sitting, the chicken and waffles dish my friends mom got, waffles were cold, and my other friends shrimp and grits were clumpy. The whole experience was a mess and unpleasant. The customer service was absolutely not there. There was no apology or care about the fact that we were there with no interaction for almost an hour and that we did not even get our food till almost literally closing time. There is a fee to use your credit or debit card and a mandatory 18 percent gratuity for TERRIBLE service. When I tell you I would never ever go to this place again I would never. Ill spend my money somewhere where they are happy to have us and where they care about customer service. A HOT...
Read moreI recently had lunch at this restaurant and wanted to share my experience with fellow diners. It was during the lunch rush, and upon entering, I passed by an employee on the phone, seemingly frustrated. Little did I know that this individual should have been at the front desk to seat customers promptly. While we all have our off days, what concerned me more was the unexpected addition of a Credit Card Surcharge Fee and an 18% charge to the bill.
To be fair, at the bottom of the check, there was a Cash Total that I missed, as I paid in cash. However, the 18% charge left me puzzled. It appeared to be a gratuity, but the check only listed it as 18%, making it unclear whether it applied to the subtotal or the entire bill. As a solo diner, I might have overlooked any mention of this mandatory fee on the menu, but I genuinely believe that clear communication regarding such charges is crucial to avoid misunderstandings.
Now, onto the service. Unfortunately, it didn't align with the 18% charge. My food arrived promptly, but thereafter, there was minimal engagement from the staff. There was no follow-up to check on my meal, and my glass remained empty without a refill. When an establishment includes a mandatory gratuity, I expect service that reflects it.
My last fun fact was the check had "If split amount 4 guests each pay $". I have omitted the amount, but I should have tried to collect from the 3 empty chairs...
Read moreNice bistro feel & clean decor. The food was pretty good. I really enjoyed the the shrimp & grits. My friend said the lamb chops were 'meh'. Everyone else enjoyed their meal. The mimosas were average. The kitchen was very slow but our server was mostly pleasant. She did, however, cop an attitude when one of us asked where our food was - "That table ordered before you. That table ordered before you. And that table order table over there ordered before you. That's why your food is taking so long." Yeah, we get it, you're busy. But 40 minutes for food is a bit extreme. The hostess was cold & gave the "don't you dare piss me off" vibe - like, if you have no use for people, why are you in the service industry? At the end of our meal, we were literally told to leave because they needed the table. (Slow kitchen, then you're upset we're tying up a table for too long?!) My friend who recommended the place admitted the attitude was consistently annoying but he put up with it because the food was solid and it was one of the few places in Cleveland that did bottomless mimosas. The thing that really upset me was the enforced gratuity tacked onto our bill. They automatically charge an additional 18%. I usually tip 20% so my thought was "If that's all you want, that's all you'll get" but it's offensive to force me to tip. I would recommend Double Nickel for the food but it's not an enthusiastic...
