Was pretty crowded when we went on a Saturday. It was very loud and looking at the illusions did not have the same effect as children ran about, smacking things, spinning things and cutting your place while customers waited to experience the illusions. Parents and staff did nothing to stop kids from annoying not just our party, but clearly many other parties around us. It was clearly not a playground type of experience and consisted of lots of reading and posing, yet many parents decided this was the place to let their kids go nuts. Maybe some advertising could be done to have made the exhibit not appear as such.
Anyway, there were not many illusions that you couldn't find on the internet or at a carnival fun house, and many of the more fun illusions were not intended to be disability friendly unfortunately.
I will say that one nice thing the staff provided was free help taking your pictures and framing the illusions properly to achieve the intended effects.
EDIT - I added back another star for the staff reply since most of my faults with the visit had to do with the other guests and not the museum itself. I think it would have been a much more enjoyable experience had we gone on a day without so many other people. Still, I feel that parents should consider other options if they expect this museum to serve as a playground. Had I seen these actions from children at an art or history museum for example, children and their parents would have been...
Read moreI recently visited the Illusion Museum and had a mixed experience. While the museum boasts a few standout exhibits that truly captivate the imagination, overall, it falls short of expectations, particularly given the high admission cost.
The highlights of the visit include the Ames Room, where perspective tricks create a mind-bending experience of size and scale, and the Infinity Mirror Room, which offers a dazzling and immersive visual spectacle. These exhibits are cleverly designed and provide great opportunities for photos and wonderment.
However, many other parts of the museum feel underwhelming in comparison. Several displays lack the same level of creativity and interactivity, leaving some areas feeling sparse and less engaging. It's clear that the museum has potential, but it hasn't quite reached it yet.
Moreover, the admission fee feels steep for what is ultimately a brief experience. With a bit more investment in enhancing the quality and number of exhibits, the museum could justify its price point. As it stands, while not a bad way to spend an hour or so, it doesn't fully deliver the value one might expect for the cost.
In summary, the Illusion Museum has a few gems that make it worth a visit, but it would benefit from more extensive and varied exhibits. A reduction in price or an improvement in content would make it a much more...
