When we first arrived it definitely didn’t look as nice as the pictures. We were already disappointed from the start. We were put in a room on the bottom floor: this information will be important later in the review. When we first walked into our room, the first thing we noticed is that it had such an odd smell. Not a regular clean hotel smell, but a bad and unidentifiable smell. When we walked around our room it was obvious that it was smaller than in the pictures and didn’t even look like it was cleaned. The floor was dirty and there was even a black curly hair in the drawer where the metal utensils are. When it was time to go to sleep, all we could hear all night was the sound of furniture in the room above us moving around. Sounded like a chair or table dragging around the floor above us. All. Night. Long. We complained about it to the front desk and they said that there was no one staying in there but there were cleaners up there. I’m sorry but what hotel room cleaner is in there at 12am. We also heard it in the morning around 8am as well. We had the impression that we would be right next to the beach and that the Cocoa Beach Pier was right next to the Westgate in reality its not. The beach is about a 5 minute walk but the pier is a few miles away. Definitely not walking distance like they make it seem in their advertisements. Then, on our 2nd night of staying here, they put a family above us who have small children. The children keep running around and its all we can hear all day and all night. It’s terribly annoying when you’re here to relax/sleep and all you can hear is children running around stomping their feet and crying and screaming, and especially when its happening as late as 11:30pm at night and as early as 8am. We complained multiple times about these people and even had a worker come into our room to listen to how loud it was. They said they would send security but they never did. So the next night (3rd night) we complained about it again, and I made sure security went up there. The security guy was rude and wasn’t helpful at all. Not sure of his name but he was a white guy with glasses. After he went up there and told them about our noise complaint, the people were still making so much noise so we went back up to the front desk. They offered to move us but why should we have to move all of our stuff when we were here first and they are the ones being disruptive. If anything they should move them to a bottom floor so no one else has to be bothered by it or or kick them out. This whole place is outdated. The parking is terrible, they don’t really have a parking lot except for some parking spaces on the side of the building. It’s dimly lit at night and looks ghetto. Another thing I don’t like is the fact that they don’t have a bike rack. We rented beach bikes for the week and didn’t really have anywhere to put them. When we tried chaining them to the fence outside of our room, the staff said we had to move them or put them in our room. We put them in our room but it takes up space in our room that already isn’t even that big enough to begin with. There wasn’t a personal washer and dryer in our room like all of the other Westgates we have been to have had. They have a few washers and dryers that everyone in the entire place has to share. This overall experience has been terrible. This is clearly an old motel that has been made into a Westgate but does not live up anywhere close to Westgate standards. Paper thin walls and ceilings, and it reeked of weed most nights. And we know what a good Westgate should look like because we have stayed at many other ones which have...
Read moreThis was our 2nd time here and it hasnt gotten any better honestly maybe even worse. When we purchased they were talking about expanding and creating a business center and sport courts and instead they added a few more units. They took out most of the splash pad activities so there are no more slides or a small little climbing objects with buckets just sprayers. Honestly the best thing about our stay was the activities hut/ pool employee Ray. He genuinely went around to everyone everyday he was there talked and joked and was very entertaining. He played great music for kids and families and was truly a nice person. And he isn't even one of their sales people trying to get a time share sale. Its a nice, clean resort but things are over promised to the owners and never delivered. They offer you "discounts" instead of complementary services and as much as you pay for one of these units they should. The laundry area only had 2 functioning washers and 1 to 2 dryers for the whole week. The condos are well kept but not fully equipped for long term stay or larger families. They should really consider air fryers. There are no baking sheets either. There were bugs in the kitchen present and when calling they said we would have to leave for 6 hrs while the maintenance guy worked. How inconvenient on our vacation that the rooms are not monitored or sprayed regularly for bugs and ants. There was no monitoring of the pool area and kids were eating and bringing Popsicles in the pool and dropping stuff. Someone even threw up in the pool and it had to be shut down. On top of the splash pad being closed as they decided in the middle of summer to paint it. Honestly we didn't stay in the area too much as there isn't much shopping opportunities other than Ron Jon and Alvin's and a few others but once you seen Ron Jons once it loses its aesthetic as nothing has changed in 5 years. The biggest issue remains parking, if you have a larger suv the parking is almost impossible to get in and out of and if you have multiple vehicles they will make you park in their "overflow" lot which is a block away so traveling with 3 adults and 3 kids cannot be done without the use of 2 vehicles or a larger suv and the best they can do is a street a block away so imagine unloading 2 cars and 3 kid a block away. There was mold above our shower and paint on the floor where they tried to hurry and paint over it before guests arrived. But did a very poor job as by the end of the week it started to show thru. All in all its a smaller resort and you can access your room easily from the pool areas. There are no elevators so if you have heavy packers and are on the 2nd floor id think twice about taking alot of things. There is a feeling of safety here as it is a smaller resort and again Ray like a Ray of sunshine was the highlight...
Read moreEDIT: I wanted to mention this after seeing they had a lot of negative “safety” reviews. This resort leaves SHARP knives in reach of children in their kitchen drawers!!! IF YOU ARE A PARENT OF A BABY/YOUNG CHILD - CHECK YOUR DRAWERS AND TAKE THE KNIVES OUT OF YOUR CHILD(REN)s reach!! My 12mo old found them in the drawer while checking the kitchen out when we got there. (Thankfully we didn’t let him wander alone & was standing there with him when he found them!!!!!!!!!) They claimed it was for the “convenience” of their guest. & I had to let them know SAFTEY is more important than convenience! These knives are about 14-16 inches from the floor & is accessible to little children .
ORIGINAL: This resort feels more like a hotel. The updated rooms are wonderful! We stayed before they updated this hotel & just stayed again recently & they did a great job renovating the rooms! But, I’m my opinion, the actual hotel doesn’t match their “15 million dollar renovation” they speak about. When I booked our room I seen pictures of the splash pad & when I got there, totally different from the pictures. The splash pad was an easy 10/10 from the websites pictures but when we got there.. I was like “where is the splash pad?? THIS is it?!” Granted, that specific splash pad might be at another Westgate resort. But leave those pictures of the huge tiki head splashpad for the hotel that actually has it. It’s just a BASIC splashpad, nothing special. & it was actually down for our stay (understandable!) So they went on & told us about all the other fun stuff for the kids by the pool- we only got 2 girls stuck on their phones the whole time playing music as a DJ (I’m guessing) & the guy they had walking around was more busy trying to talk to all the adults VS trying to get the kids involved with the activities . Didn’t feel like a kids activity at all.
The pool is also very outdated! Looks more like a hotel/motel pool more than anything. Only good thing I can say about the pool is they leave life jackets out for the kids/adults which is a plus! But, The only thing that saves the disappointment of the pool is the lazy river. You Just have to be quick if you want a float for the lazy river as well. They only have about 7-10 floats out on each side & they are grabbed quickly
The people at the Front desk were nice. The texting thing they do to be in contact with us for our stay from needing something, a question about your stay, & even check out, is super convenient.
Overall- If you go to a hotel to just stay & not worry about anything besides your room, this hotel is nice for the price! BUT, if you book your hotels to take advantage of everything & want to enjoy a resort style hotel, this...
