DO NOT GO THERE WITH CHILDREN. you would think that with all the branding of a Dinosaur Museum targeted to children you would think they would be Kid friendly. They are NOT! Our 2 1/2 year old was near the glass looking at the butterflies in the display case and the woman working behind the counter started making offensive and passive aggressive comments about having to clean the glass again. It didnt end there. she made it extremely clear we were not welcome!
When I told her we were locals and that it's families with children that are important for a tourist driven business like this, she said only families with "well behaved children" are welcome. Our daughter had done NOTHING wrong! At first I chalked it up to a bad employee hire, but then came to find out she in fact was the owner!! Why would you spend your life building your dream business and then do EVERYTHING you can to offend the very people you built your business to attract?? We went there to spend some time and money. We left disappointed and wouldn't spend a dollar.
My advice would be that not everyone is cut out for the hospitality business. if your passion is dinosaurs, then go be an archeologist. but if you open up a tourist location you probably should learn to treat people right. We wont be back. We own several AirB&Bs in cocoa beach and have all 5 star reviews. The Dinosaur Museum is one place we will be steering our guests away from. It's a shame,...it looks as if they invested a lot of money here. I would suggest investing another few hundred dollars in an online class on...
Read moreThis place was incredible. It’s a store on the first floor filled with some of the most amazing minerals fossils and unique gifts. The second floor is just an incredibly detailed, huge fabulous museum of dinosaurs and planet information. The level of information and detail to the dioramas and skeleton is up there with the Smithsonian. And clean, no dust , no spider webs in the corners ; this place is just new and fresh looking like they just opened yesterday. The third floor is again a very unexpectedly detailed museum or culture. I mean you can’t cover it all but what they cover is just amazing. The Egyptian/Tut display has so much information and detail. We were just amazed. I don’t know how they can afford so much on how little they charge for entry. Makes me feel like we cheated them taking the senior discount, but we are old and on a budget so thank you for that. I would recommend you don’t allow old people to just wander around with their phones having FaceTime conversations to annoy everyone. Also the displays that shouldn’t be touched should be more fenced off as none of the kids we saw touching them were supervised by their parents or they just didn’t care. I hate to see such a beautiful museum damaged by people that think this is a Disney ride. Thank you for a great 2.5 hour tour. Could have spent much longer here but my legs were giving out. Also the staff were very eager to help and explain things and...
Read moreThis is a great place to take your little ones! It's so worth checking out. Downstairs, the store itself is cool with all the fossils, gems, and souvenirs. We always have a blast in the museum!! Things are set up in a natural looking way; which makes it easy to feel like you and the kids are immersed in the environment. You can see the giant scale of creatures, touch things, and be surprised!! I still don't believe in feathery dinosaurs myself, but they depict several that way. There is usually at least one employee upstairs to share information and answer questions. The mezzanine (third floor) has interesting artifacts and information about several cultures from around the world. The mummy can be a little scary for some kids, but just keep their eyes on the tomb of King Tut and head around the corner without looking down. The taxidermy animals are well done. Downstairs, there is a section with a small arcade (young kid's games) and a couple very small "rides", however there is a separate charge for that room and additional for the rides. If you have never been, have extra time to kill after the museum, and have young kids (maybe 8 and younger), then I recommend trying it at least once. I remember when the Dinosaur store was just a little corner store across the street. It has grown because they've given the people what we crave, cool educational history and/or big giant dinosaurs!!! Check...
