Wow, this place should take you a full day and you could spend two days if you really looked at everything carefully. Absolutely one of the best museum type outfits you will ever go into, especially if you're into the West 5 museums in one! The Firearms Museum alone is worth the price of admission and you will go gun blind and become numb to all the amazingly cleaned up and displayed firearms in this Museum although they only claim to display less than 1/3 of the total collection what's on display is more than I probably seen in all the different museums I've been to put together, I've never seen so many perfect condition firearms in one place! If the Acres of glass display cases and wall cases Aren't Enough, throughout the museum there are drawers you can pull out that have even more displayed and labeled firearms. The Wild Bill Cody Museum is also well worth the time, the old black-and-white videos of the original show are more than amazing and would be well-attended if you could actually put on this kind of Extravaganza today. With all the rules regulations I don't think you could possibly put this kind of show on in today's world. The history of Buffalo Bill the American Road show ,the International Road Show and all the amazing things that we're accomplished, is far more than I ever imagined and well worth the read and the time. There is also a natural history museum with dinosaurs and a plains Indian museum Plan a day or more if you can spare it as there is lots and lots and lots to see here

Thankfully your admission is good for 2 days, because this place is very big. 5 museums in 1 location. If you need the restroom upon arriving, forget the one in the dining area, just head downstairs from the Buffalo Bill Entrance, it's just as close and no standing in line. In one of the garden areas there is a small show about raptors (birds, not dinosaurs) that was very informative, that was on 3 times a day while I was there. This museum is a MUST SEE for any firearms enthusiast, the firearms museum is a day trip in itself. All other aspects of the museum are just as spectacular. We started with the Buffalo Bill museum, I have been here a few times in years past but I always learn or see something new. The scope of his show is unfathomable in today's world. Next we went to the Draper Natural history museum, this may have been the kids favorite. We next went to the Plains Indian museum, again an exceptional display. A stroll through the firearms museum main floor area, and a quick peek into the library, you could spend days here just to see everything. We finished with the Whitney western art museum. Lots of beautiful art. This is where the wife went after a frapuccino in the Kuyper dining pavilion when I was spending extra time in the gun museum. A quick trip through the Center Store (gift shop) for some take home memories concluded our open to close day.

Wow, what a fantastic way to spend some time in Cody! I had reserved rooms months in advance in order to make multiple visits to Yellowstone, but got knocked out of that when the rains fell and the Park was closed. We came to Cody anyway, hoping the Park might open during our stay. We decided to visit the Buffalo Bill Center, expecting to spend a couple of hours. Instead, we spent about six hours in two visits with a break for lunch at a local barbeque place (the tickets are good for multiple visits in a 2 day period). We started by visiting the Buffalo Bill section and thoroughly enjoyed the history and artifacts. Then we went to the Plains section and viewed things about the history, geography, and wildlife of the Great Plains region. Break for lunch, then back to see the Natural History section about the wildlife and history of the West. Outstanding section! We took a quick visit to the Gift Shop before leaving. We will likely return tomorrow for the last two sections about the guns of the Old West and guns in general. The people in the Museum were very friendly and helpful. The museum had wheelchairs available for the handicapped (my wife). I have been to museums in Washington DC and this is very comparable to them. I cannot more highly recommend the Buffalo Bill Center!

Very amazing museum experience would recommend highly, the collection at the Cody museum of firearms is first class with everything from post Renaissance German match and wheel locks to modern military arms, obscure patterns, prototypes and curiosities. Very thorough collection of late 1800s wild West firearms and they even have a few punt guns (look it up they're awesome). Amazing place for firearms history buffs alike and people very new to firearms as well. They have many foreign and domestic firearms at the library downstairs. Can easily spend all day just in the firearms section. Unfortunately the firearms science section was closed off but looking forward to seeing it another day. Also checked out the art museum which is also amazing even for people very new to art, have a lot of fantastic pieces unique to this part of Wyoming. Didn't get to see much of the natural history museum but seemed very cool. Defined plan more than a day if you want to see everything. Gift shop is very nice as well with work made by local craftsmen and artists. This place is amazing and definitely a must to visit if you're in the Cody or Yellowstone area.

A must see if you like western history and curious about Buffalo Bill. I didn't know anything about Buffalo Bill before I arrived. However, after I left I felt knowledgeable enough that I could accurately share some facts with others. Plenty of exhibits! From art, natural history, firearms, live birds, Native Americans and so much more. I really like the layout of the firearm exhibits. They have plenty of information regarding how firearms work with videos and side exhibits. One thing they are missing in this exhibit that I would have like to know more about is the composition of the ammunition powder and how that has evolved over the years. I only noticed two hands-on exhibits developed solely for kids. Unfortunately, Buffalo Bill's home and playground was not accessible during our visit. Food court provides heath options such as sandwiches, salads, and soups. Dining area is quite large. Admission price makes this museum accessible for a couple but it may be difficult for larger families or out of reach. Maybe the museum should consider children free since really exhibits are mostly enjoyed by adult patrons.
