I wanted to get out of town for my birthday but knew that due to Covid restrictions there wasn't going to be much to do/explore wherever we went. Because of that, I knew I wanted to stay in a place where the room itself was cheery and where we could spend some time outside. I'd come across Cuyuna Cove on Instagram and thought it was worth looking into. While looking up the info about making a reservation we learned they have a 2-night minimum but you'll want to stay longer at this quaint little home away from home. When you look at the pictures it seems like the cabins are tucked back away in the forest but they're actually very convenient to the town! If you enjoy walking you can take a half mile walk to the Red Raven Cafe for some coffee and breakfast sandwiches or go another half mile or so to Cuyuna Brewing Co. to grab a beer or take a growler back to the room. The cabins themselves are intelligently designed and have everything you need for your stay up north. The big open wall of windows brings in beautiful natural light and they have a nice sized deck to sit out and enjoy your coffee or wait for your dinner to finish on your own personal grill. The beds are big and comfy and there's a fold out cot under the bed if needed. The kitchen has a microwave, mini fridge, cups, plates and other utensils. There were even collapsible s'mores sticks to take down to the fire pits! We didn't use them but each cabin has a locker with equipment for various outdoor activities. They've really thought of it all! When it comes to the fire pits, there are two communal spaces with chairs. You'll want to pick up some wood at the grocery store or gas station but they have a lighter in the room you can use. For the downside, the water heater is small and I think shared with the sink so if there are two of you and you want to take showers right after each other, make it quick. It's not ideal but it's an easy fix when you know to plan for it! Also we found we were still tracking in the red, iron-rich dirt beyond the mats so we brought in an extra towel we had in the car as an extra cleaning measure. Overall a really wonderful experience and a great place to getaway. We cant wait to come back!

Cuyuna Cove exceeded all expectations! The bungalow's attention to detail was exceptional. It's ideally situated near some of the finest lakes I've paddleboarded on, with convenient access to charming shopping and dining options. I departed feeling thoroughly relaxed and grounded. I will definitely return!

We have an insatiable wanderlust. COVID-19 has pumped the brakes on our traversing journeys. However, we stumbled upon Cuyuna Cove on Instagram. We were impressed with the lovely simplicity of the cabins in the woods with a touch of modern life. This is the perfect getaway if you're looking to get grounded with Earth and nature. Owners, Chris and Kelsey, are doing it right. They are the kindest people you'll meet, and they are interested in how to make things better. We highly recommend renting a cabin for a couple's retreat. Don't forget fire wood, s'more fixings, and all your favorite grill-able foods. Each cabin is equipped with a gas grill, comfortable bed, fast WiFi, flushing toilet, hot shower, and A/C for those humid, hot Minnesota summer days. Community fire pits are available for a perfect social distance social hour with fellow Cuyuna Cove dwellers. Crosby is a 10 minute walk from your cabin. Grab a smoothie or coffee and rent mountain bikes and inflatable paddle boards from Red Raven. Have a date night at Iron Range Eatery (HIGHLY recommend ordering Bananarama Pizza). Grab a smoky old fashion cocktail at Hard Water, and have breakfast at North Country Cafe. Ice cream craving? Visit Victual and sit outside to enjoy the mural painted on the building. Don't forget to grab a growler or two from Cuyuna Brewing Company. The local brew goes well with whatever you throw on the grill. Whatever and however you choose to spend your time here will be just right.

I cannot speak highly enough of my experience @ Cuyuna Cove. But first, some background. I am not an outdoors-woman. Or even remotely close to it. I've always opted for tropical or "cosmopolitan" destinations, save for an ill-fated work retreat and my experience as a Girl Scout in the late 90s. It should come as no surprise that I'd never had much (read: any) desire to venture into the wilderness (I use this term loosely, as I feel like Henry David Thoreau once my wifi signal begins to weaken and I'm no longer within walking distance to a Starbucks.) Suffice to say - when my boyfriend told me he'd booked us a getaway in central Minnesota, I was admittedly...not thrilled. As soon as we arrived on the property, I was eating my words. Our Deluxe cabin was absolutely stunning - private, cozy, impeccably decorated, and above all - COMFORTABLE! The mattress, the linens; every tiny detail made me feel perfectly at home while surrounded by breathtaking views and feeling fully immersed in the beauty of the outdoors (a phrase I never thought I'd utter.) I am hellbent on returning this summer to take full advantage of all things Cuyuna Cove has to offer, including, but not limited to, the outdoor shower. My only regret from our stay is not utilizing this, but the Minnesota air was still a bit too cold for my Southern blood. Our trip was a perfect escape from the stress and speed of our daily lives. I returned from our trip grounded, appreciative, and with a new interest in hiking/walking trails (who. am. I!?) I also fell in love with the town of Crosby - can't wait to explore further when we're back in a few months! TLDR: From a former outdoors UN-enthusiast - Wow. 10/10 would recommend. Thank you, Chris and Kelsey for this experience. Can't wait...

Beautiful place, neat experience, comfy beds. Coffee and BBQ was nice. Great being connected to the bike trails. Service was very quick if we needed anything. The only reason we wouldn't come back is because of the price. It looks like they put alot of money into the place, but for us it just wasn't worth it. Might be good for some people. We had alot of bags which in the small cabin was quite squishy, not enough storage space. Even to open the door to the deck we would bump into the chairs. They could probably add some shelves for the towels in the bathroom instead of placed on a large stool inside the shower, utilize the wallspace for more storage. Would have been better if there was your own outdoor space with a fireplace instead of shared. We attempted to use the shared fireplace but the wood wasn't burning very well, they should include free wood for the price you pay also have either kindling or an axe for each cabin. The second firepit on the other side of the water was too bright at night with all the lights, would rather see the light from the fire instead. The sauna was great, we didn't have enough time to use it the second night which was disappointing because it closed at 930, seems a bit early. The iPad in our cabin did not connent to the sauna to start it, the other couple said the same thing happened with theirs. I'm not sure what the prices of the tents are but that would be the only place we might consider staying in again if affordable, and only if we were utilizing the sauna everyday. There's alot of signs and cameras and warnings about fines if you don't follow all the numerous rules, I'm sure they all have good reasons but just seemed like we had to tip toe around instead...
