Will return for the decor and food. High ceiling, industrial, large lighting features, booths and tables. Outdoor has couple of fire going on in a 74 degree Friday in May, before 12 noon. Two large fake flowers are stationed at one door - wondering what are they doing in a farm to table restaurant. Service is good. As soon as we were seated, servers came immediately with water. Food came rather slow, without any lunch crowd - which is fine for us. We were initially seated by the wall. When I asked to sit by the window, the young female hostess said “oh they’re reserved.” Identical to the line I was fed three days ago at The Pink Adobe in Santa Fe. But she then volunteered, “lets me check.”After the coffee is served, they moved us to the window - that looks out to the red flying horse - the renovated Pegasus. Of course, by the time we leave an hour later, the window tables are as vacant as when we came, and the restaurant is emptier at 12:40 - with a convention of Fan Expo in full swing that the hotel has direct link to. I like their 100% cotton blue napkins, simple Corby Hall tableware. We’ve a light brunch: Artisan salad and grill cheese - both are good. My salad is lightly seasoned with nuts and mint. Some chairs’ cushion could use ‘renovation’.

This has been my spot for special breakfast meetings and gatherings almost since they opened. The staff is always friendly, helpful, & diligent. I absolutely love the ambiance and have taken a lot of pics throughout the years - another reason it’s perfect for special breakfasts. 😉 My favorite seating are the enclosed round booths. They give a sense of privacy. There’s also a room on the right as soon as you enter that’s perfect for small gathering, seating for 12. I LOVE the breakfast buffet. The food is seasoned well and tasty. You won’t be disappointed! Try the cereal crusted French toast! 😋 I don’t know how many calories they have & don’t want to…it’s a splurge! Fruit is fresh, bacon cooked to perfection. Like it crisp? You’ll find it! Sorta soft? It’s there! Oh! And get you valet ticket validated - drops the price from $22 to $5.

While visiting downtown Dallas for a conference I enjoyed two meals at Texas spice. The first night our group went for drinks on the outside patio and then had a small private room for dinner. The food was tasty. I got a chicken fried steak and it was gigantic. While I liked this meal I did not love it. However, when I returned for lunch on my final day in Dallas, I got the fried fish tacos and they were amazing. The pricing for food is reasonable; the drinks are very good with a large price tag attached to them. My fish tacos had the same price tag as my Moscow Mule. This restaurant is super conveniently-located being on the ground level of the Omni Dallas Hotel. There is a buffet with a large selection of salads and entrees. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone staying in the Omni for more than one night.

We visited for the Thanksgiving Buffet. The food tasted great and there was variety. The rolls were very dry and hard. Our issue was with the service. 2-3 weeks before Thanksgiving I made a call to make a reservation and had to leave a voicemail. I received a callback a week ago today around noon time and was told I would be put on a waitlist if anyone canceled I may get a reservation. I was told that I could also do a walk up because the restaurant was taking reservations for half of the restaurant and the other half was for walk ups. We show up as a walk up 10 minutes after 11am. We were put on the waitlist (we were #5 on the list for a party of 3) and I knew it was going to be while before we sat down but had no idea it would be almost 3 hrs!! I later found out that the person on the phone was incorrect. The restaurant wasn't taking walk ups for half of the seating in the restaurant. I thought I would wait a reasonable amount of time. We received a text 10 minutes before 2pm after most people had left and that's when we were finally able to get a table. I guess by then our server Miriam was done for the day because she was not very attentive. I ordered sweet tea and when I came back to the table my husband said they were out and she gave me regular tea instead of asking if I wanted another drink. It took me a while to get her attention to get another drink. We kept having to flag her down for drink refills. I mean she had one job...to refill drinks, it's not that hard. The fact that gratuity is automatically added to your bill I guess makes it easy for servers to be sloppy on the job. She really lacked service skills. At the dessert bar, there was a dessert that had ice cream and I wanted one where the ice cream wasn't melted. The lady at the dessert bar said they were out of ice cream. I overheard someone say in Spanish that they should get ice cream from the back but their excuse was we are already closing no point in bringing it out. After taking my seat, several minutes later I saw someone bring a big tub of blue bell ice cream after a second person asked I assume. The trend I experienced is that if you are sat down near closing time, don't expect great service or anyone to go above and beyond. Update 11/26/2021 After looking at my receipt and their thanksgiving menu, my child’s buffet was not complimentary even though she’s 5. At no moment did Miriam ask us how old our child was and just assumed she was over 6. I’ve called and left a voicemail for restaurant manager. I won’t be expecting a quick call back since Last time it took weeks for someone to call to call me back about my reservation. We will not be returning to dine at...

Birthday dinner tonight with @fmbizzell, @mamie_rie and @jghancock . Thank you Frank the company and food was amazing! The chicken fried steak was fork tender and the chorizo gravy had a kick to it. It was a CFS that I would definitely eat again! The bowl of red was made with chopped brisket instead of ground beef, wonderful touch. The candied pecans on the chocolate pecan pie was the absolute best. Give me a whole bowl of them! While the food was amazing and the restaurant was really cool, the service can make or break the deal. So on to the service..... The hostess is the first person you meet and should be a warm and inviting soul. Yep not tonight. Should have been the first clue to turn around. Playing games on your phone, really?!?! Let's move on to the table. The guys have dinner menus, I was given a lunch menu. Could have been remedied had our waiter shown up within the first few minutes but nope, let's not get in a hurry. Not to mention that Frank had his heart set on the chicken spaghetti that was listed on the online menu. "Oh the menu was shortened about a month ago. Online wasnt updated". Order is taken but I have a question. Does the bowl of red have beans? "Yes." Then it's not Texas chili. Comes back, "There are no beans in the chili." I'm sorry, did you not make it to the staff meeting today to go over the menu? We finished with our food for about 10 minutes, but waiter is NO WHERE in sight. "Wanna be Manager" comes over, we ask where is our waiter? "Probably in the back, what do you need?" The best line of the night is when the waiter comes back and Frank asks "are you still our waiter?" Haha. After observing the room, the problem would be that the staff wants to congregate and converse and not be attentive to the people seated at the tables in the room. This goes for "Wanna be Manager" who seems to have no initiative to ensure that his staff is doing their job. Would I go back, definite nope, nope, nope. That's my advise to you, take a pass on Texas Spice at the Omni Hotel. @omnidallas @texasspiceonlamar #texasspice #omnihotel #dallas #chickenfriedsteak #selfproclaimedfoodie #myopinionsaremyown #dallasrestaurant...

Swing by here every so often. Breakfast buffet is very solid. Plenty of free parking in the area. I don't think its expensive at all. It's in the $30's if you tip the standard 15-20pc. It's about right. Quality is typically very good, fruit is always fresh, aside from a rare off day here and there. Hot baked goods are incredible and there is always something new on the line so it never gets old. The premade pastries are apparently from a local bakery and are phenomenal too. None of them are ever overly sweet or greasy. Really like their glass coffee mugs.

June 23 came here for the last time in awhile today. Quality has gone downhill. Place is always too packed. Buffet selection has also been pared down quite a bit. Their baked product on the line today was some nasty cornbread mush. Seriously couldve been leftover cornbread mashed up or something.

Even more annoying is that for some reason they moved all of the baked goods to a table right beside the omelette station. Theres always a line at the station and nownit's blocking thr baked goods area due to crowding. Most look like crudty midwesterbers. Meanwhile the actual buffet line is quite empty. What is the rationale here. They also gotnride of the nice glads blue coffee cups and replaced them with cheapo ceramic ones. Service is also super slow, probably because they offer a la carte and buffet and the same time which I imagine offers unneeded complexity with this volume of customers. As proof, last time the table next to me ordered ala csrte and buffet but the buffet customer began bringing food for the alacarte customer, and was reprimanded by thr waitress. This time the tabke next to me xomplained about slow service, which it certainly was. They really need to just get rid of alacarte or buffet, because offering both clesrly...
