The thought of visiting the site of JFK’s assassination never occurred to me until i visited Dallas on a business trip. I went on a Ghost Tour on Halloween and we came across the banner showing we were in that area. So we made a special trip to go back and see what we could see. Thank you to Google for making it very easy to find. We found the ‘x’s where the shooting occurred, and the book repository was. The two were closer together than we all thought. There was an eary feeling to it all, like we had stepped back in time. It was dark, there was no traffic, and we were able to really take it all in. Going to the assassination site was never on my bucket list but I’m so glad we went. My friends found it powerful as well. We all got quiet, took a few pictures and realized the significance of where we were. We could see it in our minds as if it was yesterday. If you ever get...
Read moreThis relates to the location where 35th President John F. Kennedy was shot and killed on 22 November 1963 while riding in motorcade along Elm Street through Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas.
At the site you will see X markings on Elm Street where the shots were fired at the President. Here you can also see the infamous Grassy Knoll on the north side of Elm Street and Dealey Plaza, where many believe additional shooter(s) were positioned.
The former Texas School Box Depository presently known as the Sixth Floor Museum is just across the street as well. Here you can visit the location where it is believed that Lee Harvey Oswald fired the three shots at JFK from the Sixth Floor corner location. There are windows here where you can view down to Elm Street where the President's motorcade would have been located at the time of the...
Read moreI wish they would of made a better memorial for JFK. It was something you could probably drive right by without realizing it. There should be a sign at least on side of road really highlighting the spot. I thought as others that the road should of been blocked off in his honor. In addition, I thought there should of been a statue of JFK there too or more of a memorial outside near the area. I did enjoy the quote from the speech he was supposed to give that day. The picture of the actual parade showing how it looked that day before the horrific event took place was nice to see. It shows how far we have come with security for the President since then. The open top convertible style parade was probably a nice event for the people to see the President. Unfortunately, this horrific event ruined anything like that for future...
