This is the worst Motel 6 location I have stayed out in my entire life. Every single aspect of the stay was bad. I wish I never ever made the HUGE mistake of going there and I am SOOOOO thankful I am out of there. Junkies are all around you. Making more noise than a zoo at all hours of the day and night. Slammmming doors. Banging and smashing themselves and objects into the walls. Couples fighting all day and all night. Kids screaming and playing indoors like its an amusement park. Surrounded by noise on all sides, above and below. The parking lot is full of junkies in and out at all hours. So much shady business taking place and the staff and so-called security guard could not care less, even if you tell them about the unbearable noise levels, fights and drugs. Not to mention the many HUGE dogs running free off the leash, or left tied up unattended outside or the biohazardous volcano size piles of dog feces throughout the parking lot. The heat never ever worked. We were shivering and literally freezing in the room. The bed is not a bed. It is a thin cot that resembles a mat they would give you in jail. The mattress is thinner than a cracker so raggedy and warn it is like sleeping on a raft on the rapids. You will be stuck in the backside by the springs coming out of the cracker thin cot. Everyday we felt like we had been in a boxing match because we literally felt beat up from attempting to sleep in the horrible horrible cot that they are selling as a bed. The chairs are so small, so flimsy, so thin, so poorly made, and SOOOOOO uncomfortable. Heaven help you if you are not smaller than a size 6 b/c you will not even FIT in the chair. This is NOTTTTT a studio as advertised. This is a tiny tiny tiny motel room with a 2 burner, non-functional stove. The knobs are so stripped (old/worn) you can not turn the stove on, or off. We had to use pliers. Fire hazard!!!There is NO counter space!!!! There is NO cabinet. There are 2 tiny thin short shelves you may put 2 snow globes on. If you have food, dishes etc, there is NO place to put ANYthing. We feel strongly that the air unit which was not functioning or providing any heat for the 4 weeks we stayed there, was emitting toxins and fumes. My husband, myself and my dog became ill every single time we were in the room. If we stepped outside or left we were no longer sick. It was the actual definition of a torture chamber. The staff is rude!!!!!!!! Its a "hurry up and buy" vibe. Making up rules depending upon who is behind the desk. Rolling their eyes when you are trying to ask a simple question. Deactivating your keys for NO reason every other day so you get locked out in the freezing cold even though you paid. The maids do not clean, the just give you side-eye and talk slick in Spanish. We had to thoroughly clean our room (including the snot and boogers on our headboard, hairs all over, old food etc.) when we got there and had to keep deep cleaning daily. There are roaches. The sheets made my skin itch . The stains on the pillows and linens are the reason we brought our own. The shower curtain looks like my dog chewed it up, shredded, old and completely filthy and disgusting. The price that tricked us into moving here they have going across the billboard sign facing the freeway are a complete bait and switch. They treat you as if they are disgusted with you and bothered by you when you are OVERpaying for extremely substandard conditions. This place should be condemned and I truly feel sorry for anyone who has the misfortune of going there. Believe the reviews. BEWARE and NEVER EVER spend your money here!! You will be...
Read moreIt was my first time visiting this Studio 6 location in the north Dallas area in several years. They have since done some remodeling and it looks nice. The rates are still good for what you get. But this particular stay had a couple of surprises.
I had booked a reservation online and in the special notes area, requested a first-floor room (I have my reasons). When I arrived at the front desk, I was informed that there might be a first-floor room, but that housekeeping had not serviced it yet. This was around 3:45pm. Hoping the room would be ready with a little more time, the clerk suggested I come back in about 15 to 20 minutes.
When I returned at 4:35pm - some 50 minutes later - the first-floor room had not been made ready. The maid apparently hadn't showed, according to the clerk. So I wound up with a second-floor unit, after he did some more checking of available rooms.
The second issue was stranger - I was taking a shower the second day of my stay when the smoke alarm in my room went off. It was about 1:30pm. I wasn't cooking anything and I don't smoke. I didn't smell any smoke when I stepped out of the shower (I hadn't finished showering yet) to check what has happening. Thankfully, the alarm went silent about a minute after it started. I thought perhaps a neighboring room might be cooking and was burning food, but as I said, I didn't smell any smoke. Upon checkout, I informed the clerk that maintenance might want to check the smoke alarm in my room.
So, it was basically a good stay. I give it 3 stars out of 5, but had these incidents not occurred I would have given 4 stars. The room I had was clean, and everything was working, but I was a little surprised to see that the refrigerator had been dented (by a guest? was it a discounted unit that was acquired by the chain?). If this chain wants the best impression it should keep an eye on how its appliances look.
I will likely be staying at this Studio 6...
Read moreDo yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. If I could give it zero stars, I would. They are going through some much needed and extensive repairs. The water is shut off during the day and in my room, you can hear the constant construction upstairs ALL DAY LONG. The manager is a joke and there are poorly written signs with misspelled words adorning the front desk walls.(where they are protected with bullet proof glass) Nobody came once in my week stay to clean my room or even offer to change out a few towels. I asked for new towels 5 days in a row, but never got any. The Studio 6 in mesquite I just left was 100% better. The cleaning ladies came every day, management easy going and the environment felt safe. There are constantly police here making arrests and homeless wonder the parking lot nightly. Once, even looking in my window until I shooed them away. Also, my prescription pain medicine from a recent surgery came up missing when I left the room one night. To top it all off, I was told to smoke a cigarette, I had to walk downstairs, across the parking lot and then out to the access road or I would be fined $150. I have one more week before I move into my new home, so I was gonna tough it out here and save some coin. No go there either. The above mentioned manager (who told me I had to walk out to the road to smoke) said I would not be able to extend my stay for another week because, “I was walking around in the parking lot”. Kind of a no win situation if you ask me, should I happen to want a cigarette. I’m a 45 year old, business owning WM who does not drink or do drugs. Trust me. AVOID THIS DUMP...
