This update... actually dated September 2020, during the depths of the Era of the Pestilence, from another review site that I never propagated here, sadly.
I was considering maybe going back just to see how things are today, but after checking recent reviews, I decided that this one needed to go here finally. This place used to be hopping and you had to wait for a seat. I understand that is no longer the case and for obvious reasons.
Twenty minutes before closing time, the lady behind the counter informs me they are closed. I reminded her their open sign is lit and they don't close till eight and anyone left at closing time can stay till they are finished.
"Sorry" was her reply. I told her they just lost a customer.
I've been eating here weekly for years.
A bit of friendly advice: Don't be "Open till 8" if you aren't willing to seat customers up until that time. I will give them credit for this... though I've spent at least a couple thousand dollars here over the past few years, they didn't treat me any better than anyone else!
Now to find your nearest competitor.
Bye-eeeeeeeeee!
Additional commentary as I leave Jason's Deli, a true 5-star establishment...
I was once married to a woman who had waitressed at no less than twenty (20) dining establishments during her young career as a performing musician. It is because of her that to this day I tip no less than 20%, because wait persons work HARD!
She made me painfully aware of a concept they had called "hateful clientele". These are the people who literally squeak right in a minute before closing, which means some people may be going home a little bit late that night, but you know what? They did their jobs until the customers left! That's the restaurant business. Customers might walk in up until the time you close. You don't turn away a good customer because it's just before closing time.
I NEVER want to be the hateful clientele! I was running late getting out of the house but as I approached the Pho, I saw it was still more than twenty minutes before closing time. I know full well they can get my order to me in ten minutes, then a barely ever see a wait person after that, so I didn't feel the least bit hateful walking in at twenty till.
So it became a test of sorts. I decided on principle before I went in that if they turned me away with TWENTY minutes to go, I was never coming back again.
Well, here we are.
Lovely, I see that they have never claimed their Yelp! entry, so now I'll have to print it and mail it to them. :-\
Previous review from 2017 - originally 4 stars, which is my 5 stars pretty much, as VERY RARE is the entity who gets 5 stars from me.
Char-grilled pork vermicelli bowl is my standard here. Usually with a fried egg added. Sometimes I add a couple of shrimp fresh...
Read moreFabuloso!! That's what you smell at this restaurant to the point where you get a headache.
Server took our order and I see him eating his bahn mi talking to his coworker. There was 1 table plus mine but they were eating already. Server finally finish his food and brought the spring roll. I did not see him wash his hands. He just had bahn mi and ate it with his hands. Springroll was size of my index finger and so dry it was almost crispy on corners. It was probably made in the morning and didn't even cover. Peanut sauce was not fresh because it was so cold and super gritty. It took over 10min to get my shrimp spring roll.
Still waiting on my combination pho, filet mignon pho, and vegetable eggroll. Another 5 ot 10 min later we get our pho. I receive vegetable pho with no meat and combination pho. They take the vegetable pho and bring out another combination pho. I just keep the pho because at this point I just want to hurry up and eat and leave. My egg roll arrives when I'm half way done with the bowl. Eggroll is under cooked inside. It was crispy outside but inside was like a glue.
Older Mexican guy come to clean the other table right behind me and all I smell is fabuloso. I loose my appetite immediately and stop eating.
This place was pretty decent in the past but today just ruined the whole experience.
I will no longer dine in at any of I Love Pho because It was one of the worst experience I ever had in awhile. owner or manager needs to be there to control the food quality and whole dining experience. It felt like it was Mexican owned Pho restaurant who didn't care about the service.
It is sad to see a good...
Read moreGiven the fluctuating temperatures, I decided it was the perfect time to treat myself to some tasty pho and spring rolls. I enjoy exploring new restaurants whenever I have pho, and a place in Plano, near I-75 & Forest Ln, caught my attention on Yelp as a new option to try.
After a twenty-eight-minute drive after work, I arrived and was warmly greeted by the hostess, who guided me to a four-top table. I opted for the combination pho, requesting no tripe or tendon, as I was in the mood for some comforting familiarity. The broth was impressively hot, just the way I prefer it, and the combination of fresh vegetables, meat, noodles, and bean sprouts was delightful—definitely a mood booster.
As for the shrimp spring rolls, the peanut sauce served with them had a perfect consistency for dipping, enhancing the overall experience. My only suggestion would be to consider offering slightly larger spring rolls for the price, as I found them filling but smaller than I expected. Typically, I only manage to eat half of my meal and take the rest home.
Overall, I found this establishment to be a lovely spot with quality food, and I look forward to returning to try more items...
