Overall ok food. Compared to most vegan places in Soflo, they have the best vibes since they are not so processed. Their live zen sandwich is the best option. The woman with short hair, working there at the time we went, was helpful in substituting the peppers and tomatoes for zucchini and beets. She was very accommodating and we appreciated that. I have tried this sandwich a few times, and the way she made was the most delicious! Her plating was also beautiful and prepared with love. We felt leaving light. The tea is pretty good. Their smoothies are also good, but rely too much on bananas. Bananas are something to be careful with, considering the banana industry and the way they agree exploited and gassed, even if organic.
The best time to come here is when there are no events... that is if you prefer peace like we do. It tends to get crowded before an event and it can feel very tight in there with all of the dense energy of the people arriving, in a small space. If you come here when there is an event, be prepared to wait a long time for your food or tea. We have been to an event there before with Luz Duque, and it was just ok. It was a new Moon circle which we were excited for. However, sitting on the hard floor, even with a pillow, was very uncomfortable. The facilitation of the circle was also just ok. We sensed a bit of spiritual fluff and facades. Very typical of the new age movement. Also in the back of the room there was a large cloth covering up what seemed to be clutter. Clutter blocks the flow of energy, which can defeat the purpose of spiritual events in the space.
They have nice spiritual goods for sale in their cafe/store, although the presentation is a bit scattered and cluttered.
The young girl server who works there, the one with tattoo claws on her neck, needs some work with customer service and generally with her energy (heavy). Out of the times I have been there, she is slow in preparing food, rushes you when ordering, and looks annoyed. The fake smile is not convincing. Her plating is what I would describe as blah. One time we went to the counter to pay, and she ignored eye contact completely (although right in front of us), and with an annoyed attitude, told Dennis the owner to ring us up. Just the way it was done was rude. Dennis for the most part has been kind, although not very open to suggestions on food, particularly the sweets (one time the raw pie tasted like it had gone bad, we believe because of the coconut oil). He seem bothered, but then gave us another dessert, which was a raw coconut ball... Also tasted bad, we believe because of the coconut oil. Other time I went and had the brownie, not raw, which was much better.
The best seating is definitely the nook in the wall with the pillows. Chill spot. Otherwise the rest of the seating is not very comfortable.
Will come by again, after a beach day when super hungry for a save the tuna sandwich, hopefully made by the...
Read moreMy wife and I have been vegan for longer than Joe Biden has been alive. After a few eons of spending good money on half-ahh'd "vegan" meals, we have resorted to preparing our own health-conscious, delicious home meals.
After disappointment after disappointment - we took a risk. We found this enriching Hole in the Vegan Universe. It was a Mystery that brought Zen, our entire stay.
In fact, the Zen has stuck with me since visiting.
The food is meticulously prepared in great Virgonian detail. HEALTHY. TASTY. REMARKABLE flavors.
I am a practicing Chef. The Chef at this establishment is not a Culinary Pro. No. They are far more. They are a PLANT-BASED CULINARY DIETY!
The space has contents that make Zen Mystery very magical. Synchronisities are abundant in this establishment. The collection of literature is impeccable. The variety of flavor is timeless. The collection of beverages are dank.
I can go on - however, I will sum my sentiments. If you want to experience great taste, great service, at the benefit of a healthy body, Zen Mystery is it.
It's not designed like Planta or these other high-end restaurants - but this place is ahead of it's time. Soon, Zen will be around the world. Partake and enjoy history as our global lifestyle enters it's health...
Read moreMy son and I spent the night at a hotel close to the Fort Lauderdale Airport before flying home. He recently became a vegetarian and found Zen Mystery online. It was a short walk from the hotel. I'm not a vegetarian, but I'll come here again the next time we're in Fort Lauderdale. The food was really delicious -- I got the "tuna" pate and avocado sandwich, which was really good. It was not fishy tasting at all, just had a bit of an ocean tang from seaweed flakes. If you like the flavor of the seaweed they use to wrap sushi (I do), you'll like the pate. My son got the veggie burger, which he also really liked. Both came with a lovely, fresh kale salad with a delicious dressing. We got them on the onion "bread," which was halfway between bread and a cracker -- also really tasty. We also shared a piece of the raspberry pie, which was exceptional. The owner was friendly and chatty and the atmosphere was pleasant and...
