A group of us booked 5 rooms for just two nights because we were there for an historical event( little did we know the hotel was historically hilarious) and I can tell you not one of us will book there EVER again. (Unless they do a complete remodel) the moment we walked in the room it smelled musty. The carpet was disgusting, the dust was terrible, the comforters on the beds were from 70's and were smelly and very stained. The decor was a joke! Broken blinds and dirty curtains on the front window that didn't cover the entire window. The fabric in the two seating chairs were very dirty. Curtains that were hanging on the kitchenette area window were filthy. No telephone in the room, no clock. The ceiling fan was so old and filthy the blades were warped. The extra blanket in the tiny closet covered by a sheet was stained and smelled! The restroom was very small, outdated and dirty. The mattresses on both beds were disgusting! I wanted to look under the bed but I wouldn't dare stoop that low! The last draw for me was when I pulled the sheets back to check them, there was black hairs on them!! Meanwhile my legs felt like they were being bitten by something ..LAST STRAW!!! If I could post the pictures I have it would be great!! Th list of things go on and on!! My husband had to go down to the office and tell the oblivious lady at the front. He came back with the guy in charge of parking lot security and changed us to another room which happen to be ocean front. The only difference in that one to the last is, it had a phone and tile floors. The windows were so rusty they were not far from falling out. The railings on the balcony the same exact way. I would not dare step on it! The rooms do NOT have A/C so we were told to keep the door open so the ocean air would come in. If it wasn't already 2am and we weren't exhausted from driving 9 hours we would have left and searched for another room, so we sucked it up and threw the nasty comforter on the nasty chair and just used the sheet, prayed for the best! NOW we are fighting for billing issues, $90 a night x2 and was charged $234. She credited it SUPPOSEDLY and billed 90$ again. We canceled the second night and payed a cancellation fee. Now we have even more issues and multiple over charges, the oblivious lady at the front doesn't "have a clue"! This hotel is in need of a HUGE HUGE REMODEL! Oh and almost forgot about all the drug addicts floating around from the bars around the hotels. We managed to sleep there for 3 hours and left for our intended business. Left Daytona around 5 with no intensions of going back to the Daytona Inn EVER! we were at the point if we couldn't find a hotel because everything was booked everywhere, we would just sleep in the car! It's cleaner! Got onto I95 and we found the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Rome A-plus plus hotel white glove clean, a suite with living room area, full kitchen and two queen beds, White luxurious bedding, CLEAN!! And a full breakfast included for only $115!!! Daytona Inn needs to take notes to that hotel or close that nasty place down! I wouldn't give you one star but it made me!
nominate yourself for hotels impossible because The Daytona...
Read moreOne of the worst experiences I've ever had. We checked in Saturday March 30-April 5. We had 2 adults, two 13 year olds, a 4 year old, a 1 and half year old and a 5 month old. We were in the courtside suite. Upon looking at the pictures on their website, the bedroom looked a decent size, boy was I wrong. Our plan was to put our 5 month old in a pack-n-play to sleep at night, that didn't happen. The only thing in the room was 2 double beds and a night table, there was barely any room to walk in there. There's also a sliding door to the bedroom that wasn't working properly, it was off the hinges. Unfortunately I didn't know this till we were all unpacked, otherwise I would of asked for another room. I had the 2 teenagers use the pullout couch, and it was bad for them too. They probably would of been better sleeping on the floor, that's how uncomfortable the mattress was, all they felt was the frame of the couch. This room is built for 6 people, yet there was only 1 dresser, and that was in the living room and it only had 3 drawers. You expect 6 people to use 3 drawers??? Continental breakfast wasn't any good, all they offered was pastries, no bagels, no toast, nothing like you'd find at any other hotel. They also had a mini fridge of Sunny D and yogurt. And come monday, they don't even give you that. Just cereal and coffee. They lock the fridge up during the week!!!! Now to the housekeeping service.....Terrible to say the least. I don't know if it's the maids themselves or from the inn, but it was really really bad. Sunday no housekeeping came. I called the front desk and he told me depending on your length of stay, housekeeping might come only every other day!!!!! With 6 people (or even if it was only 2), I've never heard of a hotel coming every 2 days. They came on Monday and only made the 2 double beds, and threw in some clean towels in the bathroom. They didn't clean the floor, didn't clean the bathroom!!!!! Gross. I don't think we got the floors cleaned until Wednesday. Upon checkout on Friday, our tub still wasn't cleaned. It still had grime on it from the sand. Now why would you come in and clean the toilet and supply fresh towels, but not clean the bathtub. Needless to say there wasn't any bath giving to the kids, they all had to take showers. And the pool arrangement isn't set up nice either. Since we were there Easter weekend, there was a big group of college kids there too. During the day they'd hang out on the deck where the bar is, unfortunately that's where the kiddie pool is too. So obviously didn't bring the kids to the pool around 50 college kids that are drinking for hours. In house restaurant had not very good and too expensive food. Only good thing about the place was that it's right on the beach and it was the cheapest hotel...
Read moreHotel is "OK". I came with my JROTC unit for a drill competition and we stayed for 3 nights. We were lucky... My room (with 3 others) was one of the cleanest of them all. Sheets were outdated and the patio ceiling was held up with metal stilts of some sort. The staff left thank you notes in all our rooms. The security lady was very nice, and talked to us occasionally. The lady at the front desk was not very nice (rolled her eyes at me). House keeping was very nice as well. Some of the other rooms that my group had were disgusting. One room had a lamp shade with a huge brownish red stain on it. Another had bed bugs, another smelled very old, another had windows and a back door about to fall off. The building was overall falling apart. The rails are held together with duck tape and zip ties. I hope these renovations improve the rooms. The rooms need new furniture badly. The hotel is close to many different attractions that kept us busy. I wouldn't recommend to anybody. Many other hotels around.
Update: Stayed here again with my JROTC unit and we went to Kennedy space center. I was originally in a room without a ocean view. I was one of the 2 hotel rooms in our whole group that do not have the room ready. An hour later they changed us to an ocean-view room which ended up being the same room I had the year before. I remember the 1st day we got there was madness. I believe our group had around 10 plus rooms total. I think 75% of those rooms were changed because of some maintenance related issues. Some female rooms were on the lowest level and the doors did not lock, and the windows did not shut correctly. They were worried because the door is faceing a dark alley. Some even had broken windows with cardboard covering them. They all changed rooms. All the renovations really improved the exterior of the hotel, but the Interior still needed some work. It's kind of a pain because some of the doors have an actual key lock and some have the card lock. That was the reason why my room was not ready. I had a door with an actual key lock on it and they had to go have extra keys made. And this year they did not leave thank you letters in the rooms. All of the staff were very friendly we had a few conversations with the security guard and some of the maids. One lady who worked at the desk was very rude but there is also a guy that works at the desk that is very nice. Overall the hotel improved a little from the year before but still needs a lot of room maintenance. I even found a couple hairs in my clean sheets and towels. In my opinion...the ocean view was is the best part of this hotel. I was on the 3rd floor and I sat on my balcony at night and listened to the waves and listened to some...
