Just returned from Daytona Beach Shores. One night we decided to go up to Daytona and see visit the boardwalk. Looks good online, but turned out not so much. First, be prepared to pay $10 or so for parking and search for a spot forever if you want to park close. Didn't seem like they had enough parking available for the volume that visit. We ended up parking in the Shoppes parking garage after spending 20 minutes or so trying to navigate around. If you do end up in the Shoppes garage, you'll have to walk a bit to get to the boardwalk. Second, homeless occupy nearly every bench on the boardwalk. I don't mind normally but have never dealt with so many in such a small area. They all seemed to have palm dolls they were trying to sell. Third, while walking towards the food/ride area we heard a voice come over a megaphone, spewing nonsense about repenting our sins and pointing out a few people amongst the crowd and calling them, "abominations" and telling them they were going to Hell. Mind you, a few of these people they were talking about were no older than 18 or 19. Three guys began walking throughout the boardwalk; one with the megaphone, the other two following behind carrying big signs and handing out cards. What a joke! The whole area looks run down. Huge hotels sit behind the boardwalk that bring droves of people so it was very crowded. We didn't make it very far after that due to the horrendous experience leading up to the ride/food area and left to go back to our condo in Daytona Beach Shores (an area I highly recommend.) Not for one second did we feel safe, comfortable or have any desire...
Read moreNice, but I was expecting a Ferris wheel and carnival rides, unfortunately they don’t have any working rides and they are getting rusted and old, someone should do something is Sad since it was a great idea, I mean a carnival next to the ocean -priceless! The beach is beautifulllllllllllll,We went with my hubby and our one year old to explore. They have a big arcade, restaurants, stores and local vendors selling accessories, a bandshell where they have free events, the locals were really nice , they told us to come back the next day since they were having a bunch of bands playing Pink Floyd covers.I was amazed by the sunset, there is a big restaurant on the water Joe’s its nice to go for a drink , we just walk all the way to the pier and took tons of pictures,Later at night we left since we saw a lot drunk people and homeless people( nothing wrong with that , everyone is entitled to do whatever they want but we saw a few arguments and i did not want to expose my kid to that) As we kept walking we started hearing screams from a bunch of people or racing their voice , realized people were preaching on the street, i was happy but as I kept walking it got intense and uncomfortable,I’m a Christian but that was intense, just our point of view with all the respect. We Love Christ! And will definitely go back to the boardwalk and pier, to...
Read moreI've been coming here for 10+ yrs and unfortunately every year seems like I find less interest but keep coming for high hopes. This year I was playing a game and started to jam. Now I recognize game and know a jam from the directions but we got an attendant and he told us it was jammed and had to be knocked through. So I said ok but knowing it was about to get jammed up worse we kept playing. The belt started to fill up with coins on top of the card freeing it but moved under and jammed. So we kept playing and filling it up to where it made a big move bit jammed and effored the game. The old man then told us we would have to wait 3hrs or play the game next to it in which he gave us 9 credits. We said but sir there's atleast 2k in coins and cards. He told us to wait and he would Check i t out. So we played the 9 and waited, watching him scoop tons of coins and cards off the jammed belt. He finally stopped and said it was fixed and credited us 2100 points. So we kept playing again till our cards were empty. Went to turn them in and long behold we didn't even have 1900 on it. Total scam. We should of had close to 3k with coins, cards and cardboard point rings. Spent 30 dollars and would have definitely spent more but I'll pass. Hopefully next year year it...
