I am currently staying at the Quality Inn in Winchester, Tennessee, and I need to report unprofessional and upsetting treatment by the person managing or owning this property. His name is Brian. That’s all I know of him aside from how he treated me this morning.
When I checked in yesterday, I was told I could not leave my dog unattended in the room, which I understood and agreed to. This morning, I went to the office to let the front desk know I’d be staying another night. I was walking my dog at the time and stepped into the office with him briefly. Before I could even explain why I was there, the gentleman at the desk abruptly told me that I could not bring my dog inside. He said it in a very harsh and dismissive way.
A few moments later, my room key stopped working. I went to the office (leaving my dog tied safely outside), and I explained the issue. I admit that I was upset. I was on the phone with the child support office trying to reinforce my case that is still open. (My kid is 25 now) I’m currently displaced and trying to manage a lot of stress, but I was not disrespectful. I admittedly may have had an attitude he didn’t care for. It wasn’t directed towards him. Everyone has bad days, so I suppose today is mine. He reprogrammed my key, but when it still didn’t work, I had to return several times. Finally, he came with me to my room to check the key.
As soon as I shut my door, he literally called my room and told me I needed to “find another place to stay” because he “didn’t want to deal with my problems.” That was extremely hurtful, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate. He doesn’t know my situation, and I did not deserve to be treated that way. I can only surmise that he didn’t like my attitude. I did absolutely nothing to be “kicked out” of this hotel, which is not the best of conditions, by the way. There’s some guy’s sock behind the bed. Who knows how long it’s been there. It’s actually gross, if I’m being completely honest.
I’ve worked in customer relations in some way my entire life. This gentleman seems to have a bit of an ego problem. Me and “my problems” are not his problem or concern. That’s obvious because he doesn’t know what, if any, of “my problems” are. I’m beyond offended and in tears because of everything I am having to endure right now. I don’t need pity, however, compassion goes a long way in these circumstances.
I’m staying here because I have nowhere else to go right now. I paid to be here, I’ve followed the hotel’s rules, and I have not disrespected ANYONE. I just want to be treated fairly and with basic decency. Which has clearly not been the case today. This is a small town and I will make sure to let people know how I’ve been treated here. I’m absolutely distraught after this experience, on top of my current circumstances.
I NEVER complain unless it’s really bad. I’m 45 and I may have formally complained twice in my life about customer service experiences I’ve had. I’m a people pleaser who unfortunately allows others to treat me poorly at times. And, this is not going to be one of those times. I stay silent to avoid drama or conflict, but I cannot do that today. I’ve been friendlier to him as a customer than he has been to me as an employee, from the jump. He has a slow, “doesn’t really care” if he’s pleasant type of attitude, from what I experienced up until this morning.
Please investigate this incident and contact me as soon as possible. I truly don’t feel comfortable or safe staying here after this experience, however, I literally have no where else to go. I wish I could go somewhere else just due to Brian himself.
**sent the above message via email to Choice Hotels Guest Relations. This was part of their response:
“Each hotel under the Choice Hotels brand is independently owned and operated. This means that individual hotels manage their own staffing, policies, and day-to-day operations, including how guest concerns are handled on-site.
Since you are currently checked in, and given the urgency of your situation, I strongly recommend speaking directly with the hotel management. They are in the best position to take immediate action or provide support. That said, I’ve documented your concerns and will ensure your feedback is noted and shared appropriately.”
I haven’t asked the front desk yet, but I’m almost certain that Brian is the manager or owner. He is the only employee I’ve seen since I’ve been here at all. Aside from housekeeping.
They said they’d pass my message along, but I think we all know that nothing will happen. I’m disappointed and never staying at this nasty place again. And I will spread this news like peanut butter. Oh, I almost forgot…I have photos of the big cockroach on top of the mirror as well. I’m very willing to share...
Read moreOkay, so i’m usually not the type of person yk leave a review, but this place, i just cant let slide. First of all, as anyone, we were looking for a good deal, a cheap one. I wont lie, i know you pay for service, so i didn’t expect this place to be luxury by any means, but i did pay over $100 for an experience that was definitely not worth it, and i could have easily stayed someone else, cheaper, and had a better stay. Hands down. Okay so, where do i begin. Not to judge a book by its cover, but this place is clearly outdated. Falling apart from the outside -in. We walk into our room, which had a conjoining door. The bedsheets were dirty, to say the least. We politely asked for new sheets and insisted we’d change them ourselves. The mattresses were comfortable i will say, but the backboard was FILTHY. It had handprints and, yes, butt cheek prints. I wish i was kidding. Everything was grimy, like everything. The shower drain was taped… and the marabled walls were so dirty i couldn’t even fathom to touch it. You could see the grime. Obviously they don’t clean it. The furniture was just thrown around, everything was crooked, like the wall decor, the tv barley worked. There wasn’t anything i could say was good about this room. The pillows, and to call them pillows is a poor excuse because those were not pillows. Those were balls that were so crumpled and old. The went flat as soon as your head hit it. There were only three on the bed. Those three pillows was equivalent to ONE regular pillow. Yeah. And they were stained yellow and old. definitely could have been replaced and should have been replaced. Any other hotel would replace their inventory when it got that bad. In the room my mother stayed, the shower drain didn’t work, and it was filled with water to her ankles by the time she got out. The water pressure was horrible. Made me feel dirtier after showering and the whole point was to feel cleaner. Don’t get me started on the orange juice, it was very watered down.. The apple juice was fine. I wish i could say i liked this place but I would have rather stayed in a tent. Don’t waste your time...
Read moreIn 50 years of traveling and staying in motels hotels around the world this "Quality inn" has to be one of the least maintained in all my travels. Check in took approximately 30 to 45 minutes, the initial room which was supposed to be a no smoking turned out somebody had apparently smoked a cigar in this room. Another 15 minutes later we got another room and it looked fairly well until we check the bathroom. Hair dryer was piled on the sink torn off the wall coffee pot had not been cleaned turn the water on in the sink and I just sat there oh, the stopper was sitting on the sink. You can see from the pictures the amount of hair that was clogged in there. I unclog that with a coffee stirrer and it actually ran down the drain. Looking in the shower there had to be a handful of hair over the drain there. This place has a serious lack of housekeeping. Went to the front office because one of the washcloths was stained and wanted to request another one and also to get an ice bucket which was non-existent in the room. After another 20 minutes of trying to locate an ice bucket, the lady at reception took me back to the first room we were in and gave me an ice bucket which walking back I noticed was sticky as all get-out like somebody has sprayed orange soda all over it and it was never cleaned. So I washed it out to in order to get some ice. If you ever decide to stay at this place get ready should have stayed down at the Best Western for $20 more. WATCH your BILL, I was double charged and it was a good thing I checked that morning before checkout because they had to call the owner in order to rectify...
