First, a positive thing....the front desk staff was very friendly. We encountered three different employees during our stay and they were all wonderfully pleasant. I would also like to add that we appreciate that Motel 6 is one of the last surviving hotels to offer smoking rooms. This was the deciding factor in our decision of where to stay. Quite frankly, we only chose it due to the smoking room option. We have stayed at other Motel 6 locations for the same reason and have had pleasant experiences, so we hoped for the best in Denison.
Unfortunately, that is where the niceties end. Even just walking to our room, down the bright orange and badly patched white paint hallways, we laughed at it, and at ourselves for being so willing to sacrifice comfort for a cigarette. Upon entering our room, we immediately contemplated checking out, giving up our money and checking in to the Holiday Inn next door. This room (320) may be the grossest room I have ever stayed in.
For starters, the top blanket was so full of burn holes that at first glance, it looked like there were bugs all over the bed. Now, once you get that in your head, you can't get it out. While we never saw a bug in the room...it was there, in heads, and the fear of them crawling all over us while we slept was real. I thought I could remedy the situation by pulling the blanket back and exposing the sheet. Nope. The sheet had burn holes all over it, too. We also noticed that the sheet was so badly worn and old that the threads were see-through.
The toilet had burn marks. The bathtub had burn marks. I am appalled that some smokers are so careless and disrespectful of other people's property. It's people like that who ruin it for the rest of us. Also, the ceiling above our bed had bad water damage and looked like it would cave in. If we had not been on the 3rd floor, I would have feared the folks upstairs would crash down on us. All in all, we were VERY unhappy with our stay. So much so that we wouldn't even take off our clothes in the room to take a shower. We got up early, shortened our weekend trip so that we could go home and wash the Motel 6 Denison off of us. (The heater was terrible, too.)
I realize we chose a smoking room. We didn't, however, choose to be treated like second class guests with burnt blankets and sheets. On an up note, it didn't smell like smoke in the room! Thank you for offering a smoking option. Unfortunately, we will...
Read moreI have stayed here twice the first time the room was great newly renovated and the staff were all nice....however, I booked here on the 8th of this month and had my children with me, the room they gave me was trashed out looked like a room you'd find at a run down cheap motel...I was scared to put my things down...I went to complain to the front desk and she put is in a room, but before she did that she asked if my children were pretty. Quite..I said yes ma'am...we get a nice room my children get situated with their electronics and I took a shower and was getting dressed and I got a phone call from a man cursing and yelling at me asking me what I was doing and why I was being loud... I simply stated that my children were just sitting and I was walking around..so I went down stairs very upset... instead of trying to find another room she automatically put a credit back to my card and stated that it should be on there within a couple hours...now it was cold outside..I mean felt below 0...now my children and I we're blessed at that time to have the funds to get a room somewhere else.. however what if I wouldn't have had the funds my children and I would have been in the cold waiting for money that wasn't going to come and I still have not received it so when I called today they said it was going to possibly be 3 more days...I am not well off I am a displaced mother of 2 and my account now is in the negative because off this hotel and there incompetence...this hotel is a sham and they discriminate against people with children and give us the horrible rooms I mean there were cigarette stains on the counter and the floor wasn't clean the toilet seat was a yellow color instead of nice and white there was caulking everywhere...it was just horrible...they front desk person stated that it was probably one of the workers that called my room... well then by all means accommodate your employees and not your guest...and assume that everyone has money lying around and they have no need for this funds...this place...
Read moreI know nobody will read this because its so long but I have to say it anyway. I never write reviews for anywhere unless I'm absolutely blown away by the place (positively or negatively) I usually enjoy staying at a Motel 6 but for this particular one in Denison, Texas... is it possible to give less than 1 star? Walked in and was disgusted immediately by the very rude worker at the front desk, but it didn't end there... Got to my room (non-smoking) and had a very strong cigarette smoke smell in it and before my wife and I even opened the door we found that one of the cards we were given for the door did not work. The pillows and sheets looked dirty and stained, the bed was very loud and squeaky whenever you made the slightest movement, and the ONE outlet in the entire room didn't work, on top of that the front desk is very unhelpful when there is a problem. Then as if you hadn't been through enough of hell yet... If you want to watch TV, don't plan on watching an entire movie or even just a 30 minute show all the way through. It will cut out and say unavailable about every 10 minutes and will stay that way for a good while. Now lets move to the bathroom, the door had some black mold at the bottom of it and when you take a shower no matter how hard you try, the floor will always be completely covered in a layer of water, the toilet kept getting clogged, and sink wouldn't drain properly. Will not be coming here again and I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. The only plus that I can give this place is that it is close to town... and even...
