The Marriott Denver Tech Center is a late 1970s or early 1980s franchised property that has undergone multiple renovations over the decades. Unfortunately, much of that amounts to little more than lipstick on a pig. The sprawling campus shows its age, and despite upgrades, the hotel remains outdated in many respects.||||I have stayed here several times. While conditions have improved somewhat since the immediate aftermath of the pandemic, the property continues to struggle—an issue that is especially glaring given this is a full-service, upscale Marriott that should rank among the chain’s better Denver-area hotels.||||Be advised that some floors have renovations underway. This was not disclosed at booking or on the Marriott website. There was a sign posted by the elevator informed guests of the renovation. The front desk didn't even inform me at check-in. I could hear noise and see workers until about 5 pm.||||Staff are generally polite, professional and well-meaning, but the hotel suffers from recurring cleanliness lapses, deferred maintenance and a lack of attention to detail. Elite members will find limited recognition. During conferences, which the property hosts frequently given its extensive meeting space, upgrades are scarce. Ambassadors are offered a half-bottle of La Marca sparkling wine at check-in. Beyond being a poor choice for non-drinkers (not everyone drinks alcohol!), La Marca is one of the cheapest sparkling wines on the market—hardly a premium gesture. No alternative amenity was provided. A more thoughtful benefit, such as complimentary parking, would be preferable. The current $20 nightly parking fee is excessive, especially since the open, unsecured lot often has gates left wide open.||||Even small touches fall flat. A generic flyer with hotel information is handed across the desk; folding it into a proper welcome letter in an envelope would convey more professionalism. Despite being marketed as a four-star Marriott, the property offers no doorman, no bellman, and no valet service—leaving guests entirely on their own for luggage.||||Guestrooms are the hotel’s biggest weakness. Across my stays, roughly half have been marred by housekeeping and maintenance problems. My most recent suite was no exception. At first glance, the room appeared clean, but dining chairs were stained and covered in crumbs and hair. The bathroom revealed mildew in the shower, hair in the tub, and traces of hair on the countertop. Furniture and walls showed extensive scuffs and wear, while carpets were frayed. My balcony, a highlight feature, needed fresh paint.||||Amenities were equally lackluster. The bathroom provided only a bar of soap, a small bottle of lotion, cotton swabs, and bulk shower dispensers—no bath amenities, no mouthwash. A bathrobe was supplied, but no slippers. Water was another irritation: two complimentary mini-bottles of generic purified water were offered, while two larger bottles labeled as “Saratoga” were actually cheap purified water sold for $6 apiece.||||Bizarrely, the bed had just a sheet and a duvet cover. No duvet or blanket. How did housekeeping forget to put a duvet or blanket on the bed?||||Elsewhere, the property reflects the same inattentiveness. Elevators are equipped with key card readers, but they are disabled, meaning anyone can access guestroom floors—a significant security oversight. The large fitness center is well-outfitted, but several treadmills had nonfunctional televisions.||||The M Club lounge is spacious and staffed by warm, hospitable employees. However, the evening food spread is minimal: two hot items, some crudités, cookies and not much else. Full plates are not provided, and variety is lacking. The drinks selection is strong for sodas, though the wine is underwhelming, with bottles retailing for around $8 being poured at bar prices. Breakfast offerings are standard for a lounge but not memorable. If budget allows, the restaurant is the better option.||||The Denver Tech Center location is convenient for highway access and close to shopping and offices. ||||All things considered, this is a dated franchised Marriott that could be much better than it is. With stricter housekeeping standards, proactive maintenance and improved attention to detail, the property could rise to a solid choice for both business and leisure travelers. As it stands, the recurring cleanliness issues—unacceptable in any room, much less a suite—drag down what should be one of Denver’s stronger...

3/22-23/25- caught the gift shop actively price gouging visitors at the hotel. A pen that had a retail price marked on it (retail prices are placed on products to account for both cost from manufacturers and a profit margin for businesses) was then double priced at the counter. They think their customers are stupid and will not notice them taking advantage of them. On Saturday when they employee was asked about it they said the marked price was a error and they needed to fix the price. The next day when I went in there the price still had not been fixed. If it did need to be fixed, the staff fully knew about the issue and were too lazy to fix the prices. Or what I think was going on is that they were actively targeting event goers with higher then normal prices. This could actually be seen as a form of discrimination since this event was a Japanese anime con and the owners may have something against people that support Japanese culture. When I reported this to the hotel they said they would have a manager get a hold of me, which as of a week later when I'm writing this has never happened, and that they contract out the running of the gift shop. I am formally requesting that the hotel cut the contract with their gift shop since the shop is at the least actively targeting/hurting hotel guests and at the most actively discriminating against specific groups. For hotel guests, you should avoide the gift shop until it has a new group to run it. As a boycott I would recommend not spending any money not only in the gift shop, but the restaurant and market place as well if you are attending events.

4/17/22-My review is just off of being a guest here during major events. I have been going to this hotel for over a decade for different conventions. The hotel really went down hill after they did the remodel before covid.

In this remodel they got rid of the balconies that used to be a great feature in their atrium. They also readjusted their store and food options.

For the con this past weekend their were several things that they just did not do well. First the hotel did not keep up with cleaning the bathrooms or filling the water stations. The gift shop and the coffee/snack shop both closed too early in the day. When you have cons that are running until midnight or later you should keep these shops open until at least 10pm. People did not really have food or drink options later in the night because the restaurant was the only place and it got packed with a long wait time. Being able to get coffee before late panels would have been amazing. In the past they had quick grab and go food options, but not since the remodel.

Then the bathroom door on the female restroom on the second floor of the tower was a nightmare to try and open because of how hard it was to push open. This restroom is not ADA friendly at all and even able bodied adults were having a hard time with it. The hotel also had many chairs that had sides and if you are not a skinny person it either hurt to sit in them or you couldn't fit at all. They also did not have enough sitting for the amount of people there. They also wasted room on weird bookshelves that served no purpose, and these spots could have had a chair for people to sit.

They also didn't have the air conditioning up high enough for the amount of people there. I know of at least one person that got minor heat stroke even though they were not dressed up and they were drinking. It was just too hot.

Then during the fire drill my mother ended up having an asthma attack and we couldn't get her out of the building quickly. A staff member brought us over a little wheelchair that looked like it was made for a kid. The guy then had to go back to find a slightly larger one. This is a very poor response from the hotel because you never know what is going to happen to be there, so you need equipment that can handle larger frames.

Just overall, this hotel is a huge disappointment every time I have to deal with them. I don't know why cons use them and if you are going to book an event or a stay,...

I was very disappointed by my recent stay at the Marriott Tech Center upon receiving my customer bill.

At the beginning of my stay there was an instance where I had to come down to the front desk from many floors up to have my door card re-keyed (4) times. This was not including the mobile pass attempt. After the last time I came down, I was frustrated and expressed that with the staff-- to which they replied that the door battery was dead and they would need to send security up to fix it.

I went back up to my room and waited for 30 minutes, to which I then used the phone next the to elevator to call down and ask what the update was. After a long work day, I wasn't expecting to spend 45 minutes going back and forth to rekey my card, and then 30 minutes standing outside my door waiting for security.

After the phone call security showed up within five minutes. I was very appreciative and went about the rest of my night. Upon leaving the hotel I did apologize to the front desk for expressing my frustration, and that it was nothing to do with them-- as I feel I was a little overwhelmed and that's usually not how I carry myself, I thought it was best to address it and move forward-- which we did and our interactions after the fact were positive. :)

After going out and coming back, I placed my privacy please on the door. Within 30 minutes I had staff come to my door to drop off utensils, to which I did not ask for, cleaning supplies, and then somebody came to ask about my lock.

I opened the door for the third time to the person who came to ask about my lock, to which she replied just making sure it was all setup. I said yes thank you, and kept it short because I wanted to relax after the stressful day.

Not until after checking out AND being in my home state, did I come to find a charge for a $250.00 in-room smoking fee. I called Marriott immediately to clear this up as I did NOT smoke in my hotel room, nor would I ever. Also, why did nobody speak to me about this if it was reported the night they came to check on my lock, by someone who did NOT enter my room. I would never smoke in a hotel room, nor bring anything smoking related in my room.

When I called to clear this up they said they would not remove this charge because I was rude to the front desk, to which i replied that i expressed frustration and that we cleared it up within the hour as I was leaving. They also stated that because of the conversation I had with the person checking my lock after the fact of it being replaced (by someone who was actually in my room, who would be able to tell if there was a smoke smell to which was not reported) they decided to site me with a smoking fee?

I'm currently waiting on a call from the direct person who reported this, as I can't fathom why this would even occur. After doing research, it seems to be a common thing that people have dealt with in regards to Marriott. I've seen many cases of people who do not smoke period, and that were later charged for smoking fees in their rooms. The fee or citation was never once was addressed during the duration of their stay, however found out after the final billing receipt.

I would not recommend this hotel unless you want random, unjustified fees, uncooperative customer service, and a potential hike up and down the stairs if your key card was pinned incorrectly after a long...
