Well well well. I just ate a bite of my 3 scrambled (which is their 2nd most sold item on the menu.), and let me tell you, the food tasted like the service bland, although Aaliyah was a sweetheart. Okay so I’ll start by sharing my experience. I work in the kitchen so I hardly ever go out to eat because I can make whatever it is that I want to consume. I went out knowing that things might not go as I liked them to but I’m a firm believer in taking risk. I called up Urban egg to place a 3 egg scrambled order that gave me the option for two fillings, although the menu online shows eggs with at least 7-8 fillings in the eggs. Kayla, the lady who first started taking my order said that I was taking too long and that she didn’t have time for me so she passed the phone off to Amber who is the GM of this poorly ran place,( with the exception of Aaliyah of course), Amber gets on the phone and she greets me very nicely and i her, so we get to working on my 3 scrams order and she starts saying that I’m breaking up that she can’t here me either. So I end up putting my clothes on and walking down there since it’s literally down the block from my wife and I. I get there and I can tell Amber just didn’t want to deal with me even after I told her about how I was just treated by one of her employees. Thinking back, why would I have ever thought the higher management was gonna help if the help they hired treated me as poorly as they did. I asked Amber could I possibly talk to the sous chef in charge so they can help me put together my idea order because I was craving a rich and rustic Italian type of breakfast for my eggs. She said that I offended her and that she knows more than any of her cooks at running the kitchen because they Hardly speak any English and that bothered me because here I am talking to the GM about my order instead of a cook and then the cooks barely speak English. It started raising all kind of inequality red flags starting with the GM helping me with my order instead of one of the chefs. I bet in a place where they charge so much that the pay for the workers are so little. And it’s so disheartening because me even posing the question made the GM feel that she wasn’t good enough. That says a lot about that team. How you do anything, is how you do everything. And if management is like this, then the food can’t be too far from the way management is right? Which leads me back to how I started this review. “The food tasted like the service… bland.” But you don’t have to take my word for it. I tried one more time in getting Amber to know that I wasn’t trying to offend her before my exit but that’s when she sent Aaliyah (the girl that I was talking to about the entire ordeal. She was super sweet and sensitive to what I had to say and because of her it gave me a glimpse of what could be for this place instead of what is.) and Aaliyah said to me in this sweet way with so much care in her voice and said that Amber had said that “it’s watwr under the bridge.” Which begs me to ask myself, “is it really water under the bridge,” since it wasn’t you yourself who would have like to tell me that in person whilst I patiently waited for...
Read moreI had previously visited Urban Egg in the DTC for business meetings where the focus was less on the food and more on the conversation. However, my recent personal visit was a decidedly different experience — and not in a good way.
The morning started with a Cold Brew that arrived more ice than coffee, a puzzling misstep for any establishment claiming to serve a craft beverage. The ice-to-coffee ratio was absurd, leaving me wondering if the barista was under the impression I’d ordered an iced drink rather than a cold brew. It was an oversight that set the tone for the rest of the meal.
Next came the cinnamon rolls, which were so far removed from anything fresh or comforting that I nearly mistook them for a forgotten relic from last week’s batch. Hard, stale, and stubbornly adhered to the bottom of a cold iron skillet, they were an embarrassment to a pastry that should embody warmth and sweetness.
Our server, Steven, was efficient enough but seemed to be moving with a level of impatience that bordered on annoyance. There was no warmth or attention to detail — just the bare minimum to get the job done.
The main breakfast was utterly forgettable — more IHOP than anything I would consider exceptional or worthy of a second visit. Mediocre eggs, rubbery bacon, and a lack of any real finesse or creativity. It felt like the kitchen had simply gone through the motions without any real care or ambition.
To top it off, the bill arrived with an unwelcome surprise — a 3% "Colorado Service Charge" tacked on, a hidden fee masquerading as a gratuity. This feels like a lazy attempt by management to shift financial responsibility to the customer while avoiding direct accountability. Such practices are unprofessional and, frankly, a bit disingenuous. I should have questioned it, but by that point, I was just eager to leave.
Urban Egg may be bustling with customers, but I’m convinced that’s more a result of convenience and familiarity than any culinary merit. It’s easy to be deceived by a packed dining room in the early hours when patrons are too sleepy to be discerning. In truth, this breakfast spot is less of an urban gem and more of...
Read moreI would've never guessed this place would have brought me the most delicious food I've ever tried in my life, but it did. I have never been more in pure bliss than I was eating here. It was heavenly and other worldly. I do not mean that lightly. This place was the best. I had the chicken and waffle benedi and it was just perfectly breaded crunchy chicken that was still so juicy on the inside. The chili maple bacon butter and bacon jam just complimented it so well. I asked for a side of the gravy because of other reviews. It didn't need it, but it was delicious as well so I put it on my hash browns. My girlfriend had the breakfast bowl and ordered a urban beet juice that tasted wonderful for beet juice which I'm not usually a fan of. To top it off we finished with the stuffed French toast. You can judge it off the picture. It left me speechless. It was that good. If youre borderline please just get it. You'll thank me. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was great. You do have to park in a free parking garage to get here but it's a really short walk. You would not guess what was on the inside when you're driving up. This place should win awards for how good the food is. There was no wait and the service was spectacular and food cam eout extremely fast. There was nothing to even begin to complain about. This place was perfection in a restaurant. If someone gives this place a negative review they should be tried...
