Oh My Goats!!! We did it again!!! Found THE place to have breakfast while in town!! I know, too many explanation points!!! Snooze is such a wonderful place to sit back and begin your day, or stop in around noon if that's when you get going. Absolutely wonderful for those of you who appreciate creative, full flavored tasting dishes. If you're into bland and boring - go somewhere else.
Great morning drink menu, including bloody's and Mimosas. We started off with the ABRI-CA-LAV-RA MIMOSA. The Apricot Liqueur and Fresh Lavender combine succulence and a smooth finish. Also shared a RUMMMOSA. I mean seriously, who doesn't like Spiced Rum, Orange Liqueur and Mint Simple Syrup (amongst other goodies in there).
Our server, Megan, was so kind, attentive, and generous. Because Lynn favors more of the sweet side and I the savory, she went ahead and bought us a side of their Bacon But Different... Three slices of Tender Belly Bacon, rubbed with brown sugar, cayenne, chili flakes and drizzled with black pepper maple syrup. If you've ever had candied bacon, this is better!!!
Lynn got a Pancake Flight which included one of each: Pumpkin Pecan, Cinnamon Roll, and the Pineapple Upside down pancakes. Wow! Prep and presentation was brilliant and the flavor...well, you'll just have to try them! I ordered the Sweet Potato Bacon Smash Up! Two griddled, smashed sweet potatoes, poached egg, avocado, pickled onions, paprika, drizzled with black pepper maple syrup and topped with tender belly chopped bacon and hemp seeds.
Soooo good!!! This is the kind of food that simply makes you happy!!!
There are so many good choices that we decided to get a few extra refreshments on the coffee/cocktail menu. The AM Manhattan and a Brew Me Up, Bourbon Cup - oh yeh, I would drive 10-12 hours just to come back to Denver for breakfast here.
On top of all that, Dawn, the GM, brought us out a sampling of their Hollandaise sauces, which are phenomenal. Aside from their traditional sauce, they also have a cheddar and also a Green Chili which is something I'm going to have to try and replicate at home!!!
Overall, we had the most wonderful experience here. Love the food! And love the people here!!! Great service and very conscientious regarding the current pandemic. Thanks so much to Megan and to Dawn for welcoming us...
Read moreWe like to come here when we are in the area for a local convention that happens annually but after today we will not be coming here again.
The last two times we went and I ordered an iced latte with oat milk, the drinks were gritty and the oat milk was clumping up in the glass. As someone with huge sensory issues this was distressing to experience once, let alone twice (though I imagine anyone would have found those drinks gross regardless of any sensitivities).
We decided to come back again for the food but instead of risking $7 for another gross sensory experience, I decide to make my own drink at our hotel room and bring it when we go out to eat. Unfortunately, the hostess took my personal mug from me as soon as we were seated saying that outside food and drink is not allowed. This was distressing for me personally but we decided to stay since we had already walked all the way out there from our hotel and wanted to give the food another try. The food itself was not terrible, but definitely not worth being confronted in that manner about my mug.
Speaking of the hostess, when we went in today, there was no hostess at the front to greet us and we had to awkwardly stand around for several minutes before anyone said anything to us.
We noticed while waiting that the hostess was in the back gossiping with some coworkers and despite a server motioning to her twice that we were waiting to be greeted and seated, she did not stop chatting to see us at the front. A server from the back had to come up to the front to greet us and take us to a table (it was then that the hostess stopped by to take my mug from me).
It’s just not worth it anymore to come here for glorified Denny’s food if this is the quality of drinks and service we are getting- we will be packing our own breakfasts to eat at the hotel room or just eat at the hotel instead of going out from now on.
I also strongly suggest reconsidering the no outside drink policy as you never know what kind of sensory, allergies, or medication needs someone may have. It’s one thing to not allow drinks from other restaurants or alcohol (obviously) and another thing to take someone’s personal items from them like water...
Read moreMe and my family have been going to Snooze for years. In fact one of our daughters was with the original company for sometime, and even went to help open their store in San Diego. I have heard from a reliable resource that Snooze is no longer owned by the original owners. A lot of times when a restaurant changes hands I will tend to stray away from them. If I did that with Snooze, that would have been a big mistake.
The Snooze that we went to in DTC was excellent from the first moment to the last. On our arrival, the host was peppy and friendly and we were seated immediately. We were greeted soon after by one of the sweetest servers that I have enjoyed in a long time. Even with her mask on, I could feel her smile and it made me smile. She is a young Lithuanian with a musical accent. She was quick and accommodating. She was a big part of our pleasent visit to this restaurant.
I ordered the Lox and latke Benedict. Wow! That dish was great. I was a little surprised that it came with flakes of lox rather than slices but it really worked. Instead of sitting on a muffin it was sitting on the house hash browns, and a nice pile of them at that. The hollandaise sauce was topped with fried capers and wonderful pickled onion slices. The tart and salty flavors of the capers and onions we're a beautiful accent to the hollandaise sauce. The yolk of the poached egg burst over the hash browns and man! I was one happy diner.
My companions at the table seem to be equally happy. I know that my friend with the smashed avocado toast plate liked it like nobody's business. I wanted her toast that the avocados were smashed on. The golden brown thick crust looked to me like a treat in itself.
So if you were like me and intend to stay away from restaurants when they change owners, again don't make that mistake...
