This has to be one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. ||||The pool was shut down, but that fact wasn't indicated anywhere I could find on the website. ||||Breakfast was typically picked over by 8am, even when there were hours left to go during the service. Even when I got there early, some of the food was cold or stale; I had a bagel that tasted off, and one of the muffins I picked up was as hard as a rock. ||||The quality of the bathroom supplies was poor. The lotion attached to the wall was some of the worst I’ve ever used, and it dried my hands out worse than using nothing at all. I had to make a special trip off-site to get something that’d heal the cracks in my hands after using the lotion supplied by the hotel. The same applies to the tissues and toilet paper, which were like sandpaper. Finally, the design choice of having the towel rack in the shower makes no sense; unless you removed all of the towels from the rack prior to bathing, they were soaked and thus useless for their purpose. ||||The wifi was not password protected, so I felt unsafe any time I tried to get anything done on my laptop. I used the rest of my phone's data for the month just trying to check the schedule for my event. Even when I was on the wifi, it was so slow it reminded me of 90s dialup--was it throttled or something? And if so, why? And why, in this day and age, would you not put a password on the wifi?||||And then there was the construction. It went on throughout my entire stay, even on weekends, starting sometimes at 7:30 in the morning and lasting until after 6pm. One day they were jackhammering immediately above our room, and I thought the ceiling was going to cave in given how everything was shaking. The noise could even be heard from the downstairs rooms where our event was taking place, and someone mentioned that they weren’t supposed to be doing anything on the sixth floor. It certainly didn’t seem like they were sticking to the seventh.||||To make things worse, only one elevator was working, and it was constantly filled with workers hauling out old furniture and broken building materials. The floor of this elevator was covered in plaster dust, bits of insulation, and even broken glass at one point. A "helpful" sign on the fifth floor told us to stop waiting for the elevator and just take the stairs--which led outside with no easy access back into the building except for going all the way around to the front. I'm lucky enough to be able-bodied and able to do that, but if I wasn't, I guess I'd just be stuck. Thanks, Hilton!||||There were holes cut in the ceilings throughout the lobby, and one day the water was shut off for more than six hours so they could replace some pipes. We were told the day before this happened, but when it did, there were workers in a scissorlift constantly blocking the hall to the elevators. This meant that if you needed to get upstairs for any reason, you had to shuffle past and hope you didn’t get hit with anything (according to the workers). Then, the next day, the water randomly shut off for another few hours! ||||The ONLY good thing about the hotel was that the staff members I spoke to were helpful, kind, and courteous. The people at the front desk, the staff member who spent her entire shift in the elevator to make sure people could get upstairs by manipulating the buttons, and the cleaning staff who did their best to refresh the rooms were amazing. I know the circumstances that made my stay a nightmare were out of their hands. ||||I would never stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Tech Center again, even if a future event I’m part of is held there. I’ll find some other place in the area and walk over, and I’ll tell everyone else to...
Read moreBe aware that there is construction going on at this hotel and the construction workers think they own the hotel and Kelly doesn't care at all and told me that they are watched at all times in an email response. The construction workers took over the one elevator that worked which meant getting up to your floor was nearly impossible. If you were able to get on, one of them would repeatedly cut off the elevator floor that you chose and it took telling him to stop before he allowed me to go to my floor. There was a running car in the parking lot one night. When I brought it to the attention of the person working the counter, his response was, "sucks to be them, I can't do anything about it." The management did nothing to assist the staff that worked there.
The management put someone in the bar one of the only nights it was open during my stay who had no experience whatsoever. She was apologetic the entire time she poured anyone a drink saying she was never trained on the job and called in to do this because a large group was staying there. Because they couldn't staff the hotel because the management was so abysmal, they didn't open the bar most other evenings.
The wifi wasn't worth the effort to connect. The speeds rivaled that of my childhood dial-up. The construction workers were extremely unsafe using the equipment they had. Standing on the rails of a scissor lift and a second person on the lift underneath the person standing on the rails with no harness is not safe for them, nor for anyone trying to get by while they blocked the only access to the other floors.
A homeless woman was in the hotel and wandered into a private event area at one point and scared some people which had to be let in by the person at the desk since the doors are locked overnight (or they are not secure and have unlocked doors).
Kelly, the manager, was happy to take my money and not care about the lack of service the entire week and claimed that it was properly staffed the entire time despite having to walk back to the service area multiple times to ask for any service at breakfast.
To make up for the lack of service, they left "snacks" at the elevator, but the construction workers took these snacks and did not allow guests to get any. The only items left were a few razors, some toothbrushes, and random sleep aid supplies. This was their apology for not allowing guests to use the elevators in a meaningful fashion.
The hotel was well aware that they were treating guests horribly because they allowed people to leave without a cancellation fee. They did this because they knew people at the charity event going on there were not going to be able to leave easily. That was their compensation for the myriad of inconveniences.
My water in the room also did not have a sign on it saying that I would be charged for it, so I was unaware of that until well after my stay. The water provided downstairs was never refilled when it was empty, so if you didn't have water before arriving, you had to be prepared to go thirsty or go buy some for $3 in the room or leave...
Read moreEasily one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. They gave 0 notice that the hotel was undergoing renovations, which meant that floors 6-7 were unavailable, but the noise itself resonated throughout the entire building. They were also doing work on floor 3, so while I was trying to rest during the day, the noise came through my set of earplugs. It would start at around 8:45AM and finish around 5:30PM, and during those hours, being in the room was miserable.
The construction also meant that the ONE working elevator (the other was out of service the entire 9 day stay and I was told by a previous guest has been out of service for months) was being used by guests, the housecleaning staff, and the construction crew. The construction crew regularly would override the elevator controls and keep it from stopping at floors. This led to unnecessarily long waits to get up and down to the floors. There are no indoor accessible staircases, so while I could get down from my floor, there was no way to get back up. To "apologize for the inconvenience", razors, small packets of toothpaste, and various other travel essentials were put next to the non-functional elevator. There were also granola bars offered, but the slot containing them was almost consistently empty, and on more than one occasion, I witnessed the construction crew taking several of them at a time. With the non-functional elevator, it also meant that friends of mine who were also staying at the hotel who suffer from mobility disabilities were entirely unable to get to and from their rooms in a safe and timely manner.
The internet offered by the hotel was completely unsuitable for anything more than checking emails. The download speeds did not allow for smooth video streaming at any quality. The wi-fi was also unsecured, meaning that there was no password required to connect. Because of this security flaw, I was unable to do any work, as my job requires a secure internet connection. In 2025, it is unbelievable that any hotel would have an unsecured wi-fi connection.
There were numerous other issues with the hotel and the way I was both personally treated and the charity marathon I was working with were treated that show a striking lack of respect and customer service at both the management and Hilton Corporate level. I did not feel safe, comfortable, or satisfied with my stay. This is not the fault of the hotel staff - it was obvious they were doing the best they could with little support and no staffing. Regardless, I will not ever be staying in this hotel again and will think hard on whether Hilton deserves mine or my company's business going forward. The Denver Tech Center area hosts some great restaurants and safe/easy walks to both light rail and different activities, but save yourself the anger and frustration and stay at any of the other hotels outside...
