One Star for Rude shuttle drivers with zero customer service skills. My family and I checked in at SpringHill Suites on 10 April 2017. We had a seven hour layover and didn't want to stay at the airport for that duration so we decided to sleep at a nearby hotel close to the airport. The shuttle driver who picked us up that night, between 11pm-11:30pm assumed that we did not know where we were going. Drilled us to see if we had the right hotel by asking what the address was that we booked with. I informed him that I did not know the address, and that I am not from Denver, all I know is it said SpringHill Suites Denver Airport. He did not believe me until I showed him the online reservation. The next morning, we took the 5:10am shuttle from SpringHill Suites to the Denver Airport. We informed the front desk that our flight was at 6:25am and they kindly recommended three separate times to us. We decided on the 5:10am shuttle on 11 April 2017 and they wrote us down for five people for that shuttle time and date. When the shuttle came, my family of five hopped on the shuttle bus, not knowing or were we informed that we needed to check in with the driver. The driver at the time was assisting another family with their bags to the rear of the vehicle. As we were settling to the seats in the back of the shuttle she (the driver) yells at us from the rear and proceeds to speak to us as if we did not belong on the shuttle. She immediately demands that we check in with her, and to give our room # and the number of our party, meanwhile, she hasn't completed servicing the first family with their luggage. We did not have any luggage just our personal bags which we carried on our laps. Here are my recommendations: 1) Shuttle Drivers be professional. You are dealing with weary travelers, who pay hard earned money to stay at your employers hotels. It does not take a lot to show customers a courteous attitude and a welcoming greeting of the day such as Good evening, or Good morning. 2) Know that travelers will not know addresses of the hotels in which they are traveling to, more likely than not they only know the name of the hotel. Trust them when they tell you. You are not the airport gate security where I need to show you my credentials for being transported on a "free" shuttle bus service. 3) Inform your customers of whatever protocols the hotel has with checking in with the shuttle driver prior to being transported from one of your hotels to the airport. There is nothing more upsetting than being screamed at at 5:00am in the morning to check in with the driver before being driven to the airport. If that protocol isn't briefed to customers, than allow them to board peacefully and get the information from them prior to driving off. Also, take care of the customers you have in front of you before attempting to run down information from your other paying customers. The bottom line is to be professional, courteous and accommodating to your customers. The shuttle drivers are one of the very first people some of your customers meet before even entering the hotel, please teach them...
Read moreWell, it's 2023 and very little has changed. There are free streaming sites at least that give a basic selection of old shows, but the regular TV selection is still lacking for the price you pay.
The internet is STILL slow and intermittent. Why can I go to a bed and breakfast in Sharon Springs or a Motel 6 in Sidney and get super fast consistent connection but an airport hotel has internet so slow, it took an hour to upload 5 photos to the cloud.
As well, I stayed in room 105 a couple weeks ago and had an issue with the toilet always running. I told the front desk about it, noting that it would be a cheap quick fix, but it hasn't been done according to someone I know who just had the same room. Can't believe that a $5 fix is ignored when the sound of the running toilet will drive people crazy.
For the cost of staying at this hotel, I would expect much more. I stayed here a number of times since 2017 except for the last two years and always found it to be clean, comfortable with a decent breakfast. The front desk staff are great, especially Ann.
I took off one star for two simple reasons.
The internet was slow and intermittent. For an airport hotel in a major city, I would expect faster, more reliable connection than a run down motel in Lamar. I lost the connection completely when I sat on the bed. I had to hot spot it with my cell phone which was closer to the desk.
In the three years since I had been there, I was hoping for a better selection on the TV. There's not much to do in the area, so when you're waiting around to leave at noon for a flight, the selection is pretty bleak. I tried to access some of the streaming channels but none worked for me or asked for my account info. That same run down motel in Lamar had 150 channels so there was always something to watch.
Hopefully you can improve on this before I come...
Read moreWe stayed at the SpringHill Suites Denver Airport for one night on December 28, 2018. Overall, we had a positive experience during our stay. Hotel staff was very friendly, respectful and helpful. The hotel has a simple, elegant decoration. The lobby environment is very nice for this type of property, with a small bar, tables and TV’s. Breakfast in included. The breakfast is buffet style and included scrambled eggs, waffles, yogurts, fruits and breads. It was very nice and the breakfast staff were very helpful.
Rooms are moderately spacious. Beds were very comfortable. Air conditioning ran smoothly and gave us no problems. The room had a small kitchenette at the entrance, and a small “living room” with sofa-bed, table and desk. The TV was positioned awkwardly between the living room and sleeping area.
Hotel property was well kept. Room prices are competitive. The property is located in a conglomerate of hotels about a 5 minute drive from the airport terminal. We had dinner at Ruby Tuesday, which is a short 2-3 minute walk from the hotel lobby. There is also a nearby Starbucks and several other restaurants, all a short walk from the hotel.
The only problem we encountered was with the hotel shuttle service. They use an independent contractor (Western Shuttle). We had to wait close to an hour at the indicated “island” for hotel shuttles at DÍA, before being picked up. The first shuttle, which arrived approximately 5 minutes after we got to the shuttle stop, was nearly full and only a few customers who were waiting before us were able to board it. The next shuttle arrived approximately 15 minutes after the first one left, stopped at another island and left. We finally boarded a shuttle after calling the hotel twice, approximately one hour after getting to the area reserved for the...
