Had reservations for the Hilton Hampton in from 6/18 to 6/23. On 6/17 I received an email from Hilton offering me the opportunity to select a room and check in. I accepted the room chosen by Hilton and completed the check in. I was notified that I would receive an email the next day when my room was ready. ||The following day, I arrived at the hotel at approximately 3:30 p.m. and was checked into a different room. I inquired about my previously selected room and the email that said I was going to be contacted when the room was ready. I was told that I hadn’t been contacted because the room wasn’t ready yet. I guess 24 hrs wasn’t long enough to ready the room the app had selected for me. Why does the hotel select a room 24 hours in advance and then not insure it is cleaned prior to a scheduled arrival?||Upon entry to the room they gave us, the HVAC system made a loud clanking noise about every five to ten minutes. After this went on for at least 30 minutes I decided there was no way I could sleep with that noise. The hotel must have known about the noise as all the ceiling tiles in the bathroom were loose and worn on the edges as if they had been removed to access the HVAC. I went to the front desk and asked for a different room and they were very accommodating and offered me a different room. To my surprise it was the room I had selected the previous day which was supposedly not yet cleaned. ||On Thursday 6/19, I received a text from Hilton telling me to text back if I needed anything. I replied that the nightlight in the bathroom appeared to have a burnt out bulb. “Brittni” responded that they will get that fixed immediately. They didn’t, but the next day I received a text asking how things were going. I again reported the nonfunctional nightlight and noted that the Kleenex was also empty and had not been refilled when the room was serviced. (Nor was the coffee). So as of Sunday nothing has been handled. They are great at sending out texts asking how things are going, they just aren’t very good at following up and actually doing anything. ||Most of the day Sunday we were out. When we returned to our room, it appeared to have been straightened up. However, there was still no Kleenex and the toilet paper was almost gone. Additionally, the used bath towels had been removed but they had provided only ONE clean bath towel! Still no repair or replacement of the night light. ||It gets even better. They told us when we checked in that they only service the room every other day. So, we checked in on Wednesday and they serviced the room on Friday and then Sunday. On Friday the bed had been made, but it did not appear that they changed the sheets. So on Sunday before going out, I left a very small mark on the bed sheet to see if it would still be there. You guessed it, still there. So a five day stay without changing the sheets! I wonder if they ever change sheets here? ||Overall this is a nice looking property with many renovations since the last time I stayed here in 2024. The breakfast is good with lots of choices. Also they had a Wednesday night reception with wine/beer and light hors devours . ||Overall, the hotel personnel seem to lack the knowledge, processes, and procedures to ensure guest comfort and safety. Either they haven’t been trained or they just don’t care. ||I left a review with the hotel and they did respond that they apologized and would work on better training...
Read moreWe picked this place because they had pictured a step in pool for our 3yr and 6yr old kids to go swimming along with the location to what we were doing in the area. We show up and the parking is a bit a way from the door. A little annoying but not a big deal, but then we see the pool is closed because it needs to be deep cleaned "from people the weekend before", which yuck!, and why did it take so long to clean! The room was nice and clean, was a bit hot even with a fan we brought. The thermostat was turned down all the way, but I don't think it was accurate. This is typical and not a big deal. They only stocked the bathroom with 2 towels which was annoying, we did ask for more towels and they did bring them up. Next the continental breakfast, this was a disaster every morning we went down. The plate and utensils were hit and miss on being actually clean, the tables we had to clean ourselves while the staff member there was just standing around talking not doing anything. He also just left a cart for the used plates and utensils instead of picking them up. The food wasn't replenished, forcing people over to line up to try and make waffles which was a disaster. Now let's talk about the bad part. Trying to leave.. so this is a double hotel but shared elevators, with only 2 elevators. Well guess what when we were trying to get out the carts were gone, fine, but 1 of the elevators was out of order. So everyone is trying to go up from breakfast or down to leave. So the elevator is taking FOREVER!! I am stuck in the lobby, I asked the front desk about the stairs. They are down ONLY! They are for emergencies only if you use them an alarm will sound. One of the reasons for asking was not only because the elevator was slow but because the doors on the working one were actually just closing on people. So even if you try holding the door open to let people in it just closes. My wife on an earlier trip down saw the elevator doors close on a man's arm almost crushing it as he some how wiggled it free just in time. I am a bigger guy and I was standing in middle holding it open but it was still forcing closed, I had to move so a couple others could squeeze through before the doors slammed shut. Rather erie feeling in am elevator full of people. Trying to get my family out of this soon to be possible trap of a hotel waiting 3 rounds of the full elevator go by on our floor. We said screw them and their alarm and took the stairs and brought a crew of people with us. No alarm sounded we went out the pool area were they had the door blocked with a towel disposal that we just pushed out of the way. As I left I could see the fear in the front desk ladies eyes with the crowd of unhappy people standing in front of her as she was on the phone with I hope her management or possibly a getaway ride. We had already made our mind up before this that we weren't staying here again, but this was just the obvious red flag, some of the other things could be shrugged but with everything I don't...
Read moreThis was ALMOST a perfect hotel experience - great employees (especially Ziara), lovely indoor/outdoor pool, clean rooms, decent water pressure and reliable hot water in the shower, quiet surroundings (in an office park, so no road noise), comfortable beds, plenty of free parking. There is lots to do within an easy driving distance. The hotel has been mostly renovated and rebranded from a former Marriott suite style hotel and it's looking good. The only problem is an interior design flaw with significant implications for parties of 2 or more in a single room, especially women: there is no mirror outside the bathroom! Not one! (And it wasn't just our room; we were traveling with family members and it seemed to be the same in both the king and double full sized bed rooms/suites). The full length mirrors have been installed INSIDE the bathroom doors -directly opposite the toilet- which is good I guess for anyone out there who might enjoy watching themself poop, but weirded out everybody in our party. Worse, if a member of our party of 4 (including 3 females) wanted to be in the bathroom with the door closed to shower, use the toilet etc, no one else could apply makeup, do hair, or otherwise get dressed. Because we were in the Chicago area for a series of family gatherings that required dressing up over the course of 3 days, this caused chaos in our schedule. We ended up going out to buy a tabletop mirror.
Every other Hampton Inn I've ever stayed at, without fail, has had a mirror outside the bathroom to ease the Getting Ready crunch. I hope that as they continue to renovate this hotel, this serious design flaw will be addressed, either by moving the full length mirrors to the backs of the doors or to the large blank walls in the bedroom, or even just placing a supplemental half length mirror over the desk in each room. Or heck, Hampton, just keep some discount store full length mirrors at the front desk for guests who request them (PS We asked the front desk if they had such a thing, but they did not). In the meantime, I would still recommend this hotel, but pack your tabletop mirror and your patience if this might be an issue for you - or call to see if they have perhaps remedied this problem before you book; I hope that they will. It's an otherwise excellent...
