My husband and I stayed at the Days Inn, Lancaster, Dutch Country in October, 2025. I gave the hotel 3 stars because the staff was very nice and the rooms seemed clean. Those 2 things are very important in my decision about how to rate. Unfortunately, I just could not give it a higher rating because of the lackluster breakfast and because of the wheelchair accessibility issues I faced. The free breakfast was quite limited and mostly consisted of a couple cereal options, minnie muffins, and toast. Certainly no hot food options. The options were carbs and sugar with no protein. ||I use a wheelchair, and so I need accessible hotels. I booked an accessible room, but sadly it was not very conducive to a comfortable stay. The furniture took up most of the space in the room so the pathways were barely wide enough for my wheelchair. Just for reference, my chair is about 27 inches wide from each large wheel’s outer rim to the other. According to The ADA, accessible walkways in hotel rooms must have a minimum clear width of 36 inches. For 180-degree turns around an element less than 48 inches wide, the clear width must be at least 48 inches at the turn, 42 inches approaching the turn, and 42 inches after the turn. The room I stayed in was certainly smaller than those guidelines.||Besides the narrowness in the room, there were accessibility issues in the bathroom. It was quite spacious, but lacked necessary grab bars at the toilet and in the shower. There was one, very poorly placed grab bar by the toilet, but it was too far away and positioned in such a way as to be basically useless. There were two in the shower that were a little more helpful. See my pictures for reference.||The shower had sliding glass doors, but they did not open on either direction wide enough. The shower bench stuck out the doorway and took up most of the space so it was difficult to slide from the outer edge into the shower for bathing. The shower would have been better without the sliding glass doors. A curtain or a smaller shower chair with an outward swinging door would have been much better. As it was, I was unable to close the sliding door because the shower bench was too wide to sit completely in the shower and so it stuck out. See my pictures. This meant water sprayed all over the bathroom, no matter how hard I tried to keep the spray directed into the shower.||The shower head came off the wall, which made my life easier; unfortunately the head was not designed to be held comfortably. The stream of water was very narrow from a very narrow head. The pressure was good, but it was too narrow to be helpful.||In conclusion, our stay was adequate, but certainly not comfortable or easy. The people were nice, but the in-room accessibility was not there, and certainly the breakfast was quite disappointing and would not work for anyone with...
Read moreFrom the moment I checked in, it was evident that the property was in a state of severe neglect and disrepair. Specific issues I encountered included:||1. Filthy Conditions: The hotel was visibly dirty throughout, with unclean common areas and a lack of proper housekeeping in the room itself.||2. Broken Door Lock: My room door did not lock, posing a significant safety concern, particularly as I was traveling with my teenage daughter.||3. Room Odor: The room smelled strongly of ethnic food, which was overwhelming and unpleasant.||4. Pest Infestation: Cockroaches were present in multiple rooms, including mine, which is unacceptable under any circumstances.||5. Unsanitary Bedding: The sheets were visibly dirty, and I found hair in the beds, suggesting they had not been changed prior to my arrival.||When I brought these concerns to the attention of the front desk staff, I was appalled at their lack of response. Despite explaining the urgency of the broken door lock and my concerns for both my daughter’s safety and the security of my belongings, I was not provided with an alternative room or a refund. The disregard for my complaints was both unprofessional and inexcusable.||The conditions were so deplorable that I found it completely unacceptable to remain at the hotel. After discovering the cockroaches, I made the decision to leave on Saturday, January 18, 2025, instead of staying through January 20, as originally planned. This required me to make last-minute arrangements to book another room for the remainder of the long weekend at considerable extra cost and effort on my part. I also had to pack up and move everything with my daughter, which disrupted our plans and caused significant inconvenience.||I have always trusted Wyndham’s reputation for quality accommodations and service, but this experience has shaken my confidence in the brand. I expected a basic standard of cleanliness, safety, and responsiveness, none of...
Read more3/10/2017 - 3/12/2017 Checked in late Friday night and departed Sunday morning...
First room - NO HEAT!!!
Second room - Toilet seat was barely hanging on, bathroom fan was loose and sounded like it was coming thru the ceiling, bathtub faucet was leaking, hair and dust on the bathroom floors and throughout the room. Finally, there were stains in one of the beds.
Third room - The cable and internet went out during a basketball game (March Madness) and we had to use the phone to finish watching the game. This would be ok if the free wi-fi wasn't one of their self-proclaimed greatest amenities!!! To top it off, on Sunday morning, housekeeping opened our door at 8:30am using their key without knocking first!!! Checkout was at 11am... smh!!! Fortunately, the security latch was on.
I left a message for Meena Patel, the general manager, to call me about the unacceptable accommodations of the weekend. (Never happened) On 5 different occasions, I called and left messages for her to resolve this issue and she only called back after I mentioned calling their corporate office. I sent her an emailed copy of the notes I had taken, she claimed she sent it to her manager, Mihir Patel (whom she said was a family friend, after I asked if it was her husband).
After everything was reviewed, she said they would offer a 20% refund and 20% discount on a future stay. Not a chance!!!! We will NEVER, EVER stay here again!!!
The one star is because the front desk staff was very friendly and apologetic!!!* (They actually seemed quite embarrassed.)
UPDATE (4/10/2017) We tried to rectify the situation with the hotel general manager to no avail, so we went back thru Expedia and the hotel manager denied a refund with them also. Just know that any 5-star review you see for this hotel has been posted by family or a friend of the family. This hotel is still NASTY and the management only wants...
