We arrived in Lancaster from Pittsburgh for a two day conference. There were 23 people in our group, almost all teens. One teen was celebrating her 18 th birthday. After a wonderful dinner at the Southern Comfort we walked back to get ice cream. As soon as we opened the door and they saw our group they said wait outside, you are clogging up the line. This was 930, it was raining, and there are no street lights outside. We kept the door open so we could see our students. They began firming telling us to close the door, the air conditioning was on. At this point, the negative attitude and unfriendly behavior of the staff was over the top. What we hoped would be a nice birthday experience turned into an unpleasant experience with less than kind, disrespectful, and paternalistic staff! We will not be coming back to this place. On top of that a family of three, who told us they drove for two hours to get some rolled ice cream, arrived before closing and were also met with similar attitude, “We are not taking any more orders “ ! Every cup is personalized and handcrafted from the handwritten name on your cup to the excellent array of flavors to toppings to syrups you choose yourself to just how it's made, one batch from scratch a time. When it comes to seating, there may not always be room and there may be a line, but there is always entertainment from the games to the conversation. But honestly, this ice cream, not only is the science behind it unique and mesmerizing, but your tastebuds keep you coming...
Read moreI went with my daughter and her girlfriend because it's downtown Lancaster. Not the safest place around, especially after dark. But we thought the uniqueness of the ice cream would make it worth it. I thought parking would be a hassle but someone was pulling into traffic in front of us and we were able to grab their spot right out front. Fortunately It wasn't very busy. We don't like big crowds when we eat. The staff was extremely friendly and they appeared to enjoy their jobs. It was interesting to see the process, but it took a while and I would rather have sat for most if it. The ice cream was good but not exceptional as we had expected. It certainly appeared delicious. With the flavors and toppings I chose I thought it would be fantastic, but I was somewhat disappointed. I think sometime in the future we'll try it again. Hard to judge overall from just one visit. We all would have been more comfortable visiting a location outside the city in a " friendlier "...
