We stayed in a two-bedroom cottage and I just want to say everything was impeccably appointed. The staff went above and beyond making sure all of our needs were met. The room service was wonderful. We have an amazing breakfast... the food is just outstanding. Pool was lovely and additionally they offer a yoga class and boot camp in the morning. I have been to the Vineyard many times and in my opinion... this is the only place to stay! Edgartown is absolutely beautiful. Read moreMy husband and I stayed at the Harbor View for our babymoon over Memorial Day weekend. Overall we had a good experience (excellent location, well-appointed & clean room, beautiful pool & main areas, friendly staff) but there were a few things that are worth noting based on the price tag & luxury hotel status:||- Communication: I had to contact the hotel twice to even have our confirmation email sent to us after placing our reservation (thankfully I took a screenshot!). When I booked the babymoon package, the website showed a bunch of possible add-on options, but no one ever reached out to see if we wanted to do any of those things, and by the time I got the confirmation email issue sorted, there wasn't enough time to book anything special, which was too bad. They also offer hospitality services via text, but no one responded to either of the two messages I sent.||-Safety: on the day we arrived, the outdoor walkway between our building (the Roxana) and the main building was closed for construction, however the person at the front desk who gave us directions and bellhop who walked us to our room didn't realize there was construction and just had us walk through the active work zone. However when we walked back, we saw signs facing the opposite direction saying not to walk through. Seemed like the staff wasn't aware of all of the ongoing safety concerns. We also found ourselves locked out of this primary entrance to the Roxana on our second night (once the construction zone had been partitioned off), and a passing staff person was also not able to help (his master key didn't work), although he did go above & beyond to try and get us in. We ended up having to exit through the front door of the main building and walk all the way to the back, hoping we could get in that way - and that entrance was totally open, not even locked via keycard.||-Wifi: the first night we stayed, there was no wifi - this was fine, but we ended up having to call the front desk to figure out what was going on. They told us the wifi had been down since the night before due to a storm - why not just inform us of this when we checked in to set expectations?||-Noise: This isn't the fault of the hotel, but whoever was staying on the floor above us either had a dog or child in their room that was jumping & running back and forth all hours of the night. One of the nights the stomping was so loud it was actually shaking our bed. If you stay in the Roxana, I would recommend requesting a room on the top floor because there is no sound insulation...
Read moreCommunication was excellent from the beginning of the trip. We called before boarding the ferry and scheduled a cute golf cart pickup at the dock. Driving thru town our young associate answered questions about the island, gave local suggestions and managed to fit in all the amenities provided by the hotel. The drive was scenic and MV has such great old school architecture that it's hard NOT to imagine just picking up living there full time.
Pulling up to Harbor View is exactly what it sounds like. The hotel faces the harbor and a lighthouse. There's a path that leads from the front steps, across a quiet street and down a rock beaten path to the beach. Harbor View provides chairs, umbrellas and transport.
The lobby is homey, inviting and smells good. Front desk is on point with welcomes and offers. Complimentary bikes and 3 styles of Mercedes Benzes to choose from as your own personal car for a couple of hours, first come first served, but still free. Restaurant around the corner from the concierge has a small but tasty menu. Blueberry pankcakes, avocado toast, fried chicken sandwiches, steaks and sandwiches all fresh tasting and filling.
We were situated in the new building in the behind the pool. Rooms very clean but nothing too special. I liked the energy efficient central air that shut off as soon as the balcony door was opened and resumed as soon as it was closed. Housekeeping, again on point, because they always managed to let me know when they were going to be headed into my room and if I wanted anything specific done.
After shopping near the marina one night, I took one of the bikes for a midnight bike ride, complete with a wireless speaker, across the island to Oak Bluffs with my cousin. Bit off more than we could chew BUT we did it. Found a bar still doing last calls and had a great convo into the night with some locals.
MV seems like its own world on its own island of which its inhabitants only seem to be looking for and exuding positive vibes.
There is so much to see and do that I dont have the energy to write about at this moment. But for my first time in MV, Harbor View hotel was the best start I could've made. I cant...
