I am in awe of this hotel. The hospitality, the adorable dogs (shout out to Morgan and Bentley for making our stay extra special), and the fantastic ambiance. They made sure to make our stay feel the most special. The hotel is a true gem and the staff was wonderful. The Terrace was also an incredible experience. The food was delicious and we even got to drink and snack in the hotel’s garden late at night. Talk about romanticizing your life. We will never forget our first experience in Edgartown because of The Charlotte Inn.

The charm of the Charlotte Inn is exquisite and the service is impeccable. The lobby feels like a museum and the gardens an arboretum. Gery and Paula leave no stone unturned. A warm hello each morning with the offer of coffee in the quaint and cozy library. Morgan and Bentley (two golden retrievers) also create a warm and friendly atmosphere. Could not love this place more!

If you are surprised by this rating, believe me, me too!|We had high expectations, not only for the price, but also for the reviews.|I want to start with the positives. Lindsay, Lucas, Charles, Kate and Isabella were absolutely wonderful. They really know about customer service.|We met Paula (the owner) during breakfast. She was very nice and I think the story of the Inn is awesome. It was lovely to talk with her.|The Inn location is perfection, just in the middle of everything but in a quiet street.|Room was very clean and has everything as advertised.|Restaurant was delicious. The decoration, the china, the freshness of the ingredients, the service...we loved it.|Now, with the no so good news.|Maybe it was just bad luck but some details were missing. We are used to be welcome with a personal note and some fruits or sweets in the room...there was nothing in this particular case. Silly thing but those kinds of details are important to us...and they knew it was our first time with them, they knew we were traveling from the other side of the world, they knew it was my husband very special birthday, NOTHING.|Also, every time we asked for assistance with transportation, they called a taxi company that has very old vehicles...in very bad shape...and the 3 of them were VERY dirty. There are more taxi companies in the island so we didn't understand this.|The lock in our door was a tricky one, it wasn't an easy in and out situation. Love the traditional vibe but there were more tiny details regarding maintenance.|The lack of a coffee maker in the room was very inconvenient. Also water bottles only appeared in our room during the second day.|However, for me the big problem was when we arrived. Check in was a big failure, and of course, first impressions count. The lady who did the check in was kind of lost, it was so awkward, she left us standing alone at the reception area with no explanations. I don't even know how to describe the scene. We didn't know where to go or what to do next. It was like they weren't expecting us at all.|Lucky us, next day we met Lindsay =) check in would have been completely different with her!|For the price tag I wouldn't stay here again. I will choose another place in the island and go to the Terrace for dinner. And of course, we will stop by to say hello to Lindsay (and Morgan and Bentley, the...

I will start by saying my wife booked a room here for our first visit to Marthas Vineyard and to celebrate her 50th B-day. During our travel in rout to The Charlotte inn the concierge kept in touch with us and we felt that the experience would be great. However, when we checked in that's when things took a turn for worse. When he took us to our rom, my wife noticed that the room did not have an air conditioner, based on the pictures and information the rooms had A/C, when we asked him about it, he replied that that room didn't, he then brought us a box fan to put in the window. needless to say that was our first disappointment. So after we went to the onsite restaurant "The Green room", the venue wasn't of our desire, when asking the waitress if they had beer, she replied no, not tonight, so that was our sign to eat elsewhere. So later that night after we returned to our room, we were surprised to find at least a dozen ants in our bathroom! I called the concierge to look, he came and saw the ants and replied they will have them treated in the morning and left. A few moments later my wife and I decided we wanted another room, so I requested another room, he replied with an attitude that he wouldn't give us one that night, so I informed him that we would need a refund and leave if he didn't. He then spoke up and told me he had already discussed that option with the owner and it would probably be best as he didn't think we were a "good fit" for the Charlotte! So, the next morning after speaking to the actual owner and making him aware of the issue, he apologized and promptly gave us another room, a upgrade at that for no additional fee that had an A/C. So, overall I can say the owners did step up and try to make it right, however it was, and still is very aggravating how the first concierge treated us. The second concierge we dealt with was exceptionally nice and polite. I won't recommend for anyone to stay or not to stay here, but I would recommend taking into consideration the events and how we were treated...
