It's the best public park for kids and young families to be found for miles around. Come and play!
Years ago, our alderman lined up a company to come in and redo Penny Park with plastic and steel and make it look like every other park you can think of. But those of us who live close by fought to have it renewed while maintaining its original, natural wood appeal.
We also got the the city and the state to fund the restoration, as well, rather than spending who knows how long trying to raise the money ourselves thru local fundraisers (as Alderman Braithwaite suggested).
