Penny Park — Attraction in Evanston Township

It's the best public park for kids and young families to be found for miles around. Come and play!

Years ago, our alderman lined up a company to come in and redo Penny Park with plastic and steel and make it look like every other park you can think of. But those of us who live close by fought to have it renewed while maintaining its original, natural wood appeal.

We also got the the city and the state to fund the restoration, as well, rather than spending who knows how long trying to raise the money ourselves thru local fundraisers (as Alderman Braithwaite suggested).

This is a wonderful and unique park located in a quiet neighborhood of Evanston. Rebuilt in 2017, the defining aspect of this playground is that the majority of the play structures are wood and not plastic or metal. The main structure is quite large and features a number of different areas. There are a few standard elements like swings and slides, but this playground definitely stands out.
