honestly, i was so offended by this place.
first, no menu prices— ordered the hazelnut velvet drink (which did not disclose that it had nutella which i don’t particularly like) and the staff did not even know what the drink was and i had to point it out on the menu. they added $1.25 for oat milk (normal), $1.25 for hazelnut, $0.99 for ice on top of a base cost of $5.80 for a regular sized drink. so already put off by paying $9 for a regular sized drink. also ordered the sunrise bagel for a total of $24.
next, the food comes out and the bagel has clearly been microwaved after toasting (it is chewy and gummy). the ingredients are sparse— thin layer of liquid carton egg, low quality ham, bacon is okay, cheese. they microwaved the sandwich to melt the cheese i believe lol. also the bagel is tiny and a bagel you could buy at like costco/in a regular store— overall was upset because its something i could’ve made at home for a fraction of the cost.
my friend also got the the snook/lox bagel— thin layer of salmon, barely any cream cheese, 5 capers, and a sprinkle of onions. bagel is toasted but again its not that high of quality. can definitely get a better lox bagel anywhere else in evanston for cheaper.
hazelnut drink was okay (minus the nutella) and my friend’s regular hot coffee was not filled to the top.
we ate outside and one of the staff came outside and had the audacity to ask for a review. here is my review.
i don’t want to give local places bad reviews but this place honestly was such a waste of money...
Read moreMy friend and I decided to visit Berry Pike Cafe for a quick bite, and what an incredible experience it turned out to be! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance struck a perfect balance between cozy and chic, creating an inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home.
The standout of the night was undoubtedly the bagel sandwich I ordered. It was delicious, with every ingredient tasting fresh and well-prepared. My friend echoed the sentiment with his choice, and we both agreed that the food here is something special.
What truly set our experience apart was the service. It was outstanding in every sense of the word. The staff, especially the manager, displayed exceptional hospitality. They were attentive without being intrusive, ensuring we had everything we needed.
As the evening progressed, we lost track of time, engrossed in conversation and the lovely setting. Despite the fact that we lingered almost until closing time, we never felt rushed or unwelcome. The manager was kind enough to let us stay without making us feel like we were imposing, which speaks volumes about the customer service here.
Berry Pike Cafe is a gem of a place. It's not just the food or the decor, but the people who make it a memorable experience. I'll definitely be returning and recommending this cafe to friends and family for a...

I was trying to explore spots for doing some computer work. This review is limited to that scope.
$9 for a tea and pastry, which was very good. I had the powdered sugar waffle. There was a mistake though - they gave me iced coffee instead of iced tea. The tea selection is nice. The brand seems quality. But bagged tea is a bit of a disappointment - loose tea is better for the tea snobs out there.
On the technical details lost a star for me. Their wifi didn't connect for a while - turns out it works fine on my laptop, but an Android phone cannot to the login screen. Their outlet literally made my plug fall out of the socket, but I didn't check more than the one I started on. So I used my own internet and stuck to battery power.
And they close at 3pm, which is fine for food and coffee, but Evanston has other great wifi spots open later. When I left as they closed, they had a few people showing up close to closing time. A great problem to have, but maybe they could have enough business to compete with other spots like Unicorn, Kaffeine, or Panera? Only the management can do that kind of cost-benefit analysis thugh. No points...
