Dozika Restaurant — Restaurant in Evanston Township

I am very much pleasantly surprised by this place. We live 10 minutes down the street and were in the mood for something new yet close by as it was pouring rain outside. I read a few reviews, and by the judgment of the pictures, we decided to try it. There were quite a few options, but we chose to stick to apps and sushi. We had wings and calamari, both of which were very good, the wings super crispy with a nice kick. The calamari was delicious, I really liked the breading they used for it and at a reasonable price. Highly recommend both. Then we moved on to the tom kha, I am very picky with Tom kha as I can make it at home to my liking, and almost everywhere I go, it is beyond sweet and inedible. Let me tell you, compete opposite! I love how light the both is and not overly creamy from the coconut milk, just the right amount. You can still taste notes a sour/acidity from the scrumptious spices in the soup 10/10. This needs to come in a bucket. Lastly, we had a Philly roll, Red Hana roll, eel Maki, and shrimp tempura Maki, all of which were very very good. 🍣 I really want to come back here to try a few dishes I was eyeballing but just couldn't eat anymore food. Dozika is a cozy, little restaurant that fits in well with its surroundings. Entering the front door is somewhat of a tight squeeze due the two front doors opening in opposite directions and a two foot space between them, in which you have to stand before entering or exiting. Once inside this establishment the host makes you feel welcome. I've only ordered california rolls for pick up and must say that as far as California rolls are concerned, these are the best yet. They are always freshly made and you are able to taste the individual flavors without one overwhelming the other. The ginger is freshly cut and adds to the flavor. Picking up my order was never a hassel or wait time. My order was always ready when I arrived to pick it up. I have ordered takeout from Dozika for over a year now quite frequently and highly recommend using their online platform for delivery. Our order is always the “favorite combo” and we order a side with it. When you use their online platform with this combination you also receive a free item which we use to get another appetizer; for two we EACH get two reg. maki, and we each get to pick a side (one free from the limited free item opt on the online platform) for delivery under $40.
