Lovely hotel. 1st time staying at this hotel and Drury in general. Visiting the areas local attractions for our 21st Anniversary. This hotel offers free breakfast, free popcorn, free drinks, free parking, free wifi, and free lunch/dinner at 5:30 kick back. We also got 3 alcoholic drinks each for me and my husband for $1/each with the vouchers they give you at check in during the kickback time which is definitely worth it and theyre so good. The Tom Collins drinks are great! Something different for lunch/dinner daily. On Thursday we had chicken pasta and fri it was tacos. They have a restaurant too (the kitchen + bar). This is not free, but youre welcome to order from there during their open hrs (they stay open late). You can eat there or order and take to your room. They also offer $5 desserts during the 5:30 kickback which was really good from the kitchen + bar. We ate dessert at their bar in the restaurant. The lady there was very nice and friendly and we shared a nice conversation about places we had been. There is also a little market with snack and drinks by the hotel front counter you can purchase at anytime. A $50 deposit hold is required at check in. If you use your drink vouchers, they will come out of the $50 deposit. We also charged our $5 desserts to that deposit. Whatever remained is what we were refunded at checkout. If you dont use the drink vouchers or charge anything to the 50, you'll get the 50 back as long as your room checks out good. Our room was wonderful! Very clean room. King bed with a large walk-in shower on top floor towards end of hall. Shower doesn't lack in pressure or warmth. Had a chair, a desk with chair, and black out curtains. It was quiet and the only thing I heard from anyone was an occasional door closing which was nice because I wanted a quiet and peaceful stay. The bed was comfortable, but could have been softer. It was also very spingy so any movement in the bed caused it to bounce. There was a microwave and fridge and free coffee in the room. The main and really only issue i had with my room was the light switch in the bathroom. It automatically comes on with movement. I had a hard time getting it to turn off when i didnt want it on so i had to wait for it to turn off itself. Took several minutes. In the middle of the night or early morning when you gotta potty, that bright light is blinding and unpleasant lol. I would prefer a switch to turn it on and off myself if I want instead of motion sensors. The hotel knew ahead of time it was our anniversary when I placed my room reservation online, so when we arrived they gave us a little anniversary bag that had a fanny pack, and some candy in it. Their indoor hot tub and pool was nice, but the pool was super cold so i couldnt stay in it long after being so warm from the hot tub. It was supposed to be heated so im not sure why it wasn't. Every hotel staff member we encountered during our stay was very friendly. The manager would come over and ask how everyone was doing and chat during the kickback time, and at check in we had the option to choose if we wanted our room cleaned during our stay. We opted out of that since we only stayed from thurs-sat. This gave more points towards my rewards account and saved on their laundry and so forth. Plus I didn't have to worry about anyone bothering us or coming into our room when we weren't there. The entire experience was wonderful, the hotel was really nice, and we will definitely stay here again if in the area. Drury plaza is now considered one of our preferred hotels! This is definitely a great place if you have kids with you because of the amount of money you'd save on just food alone and it's all you can eat as long as it's available, so you can't beat that! This hotel is close to many restaurants and the interstate, and the mall, plus shopping. You can hear an occasional plane fly over due to the airport, and the cars passing by sometimes, but its definitely not bad at all on the top floor. We had the 7th floor room 705. You won't regret staying here! I hope this...
Read moreATTENTION! read this review before staying at Drury Hotels! If you’re like my wife you’re always looking for the best hotel when you’re away from home. We recently decided to try the Drury hotel in Florence Kentucky while visiting family during the holidays. Our flight was late arriving, so my wife called Drury to notify them we’d be checking in late. Upon arriving at the Drury hotel, we were met with a locked front door at 11:30PM. Apparently, this is they’re policy; however, there was no one at the front desk to answer the courtesy phone. Consequently, my wife and I waited in the cold to be let in. My wife called Drury on her cell phone, and I called on the courtesy phone provided. We were there for 10 to 15 minutes freezing in the winter night air. Eventually, the front desk clerk slowly strolled toward the front desk, and you would expect her to quickly open the door, but no, she decided to rudely yell at us, “do you have a reservation?” My wife, now irritated, yelled back ‘yes” through the still closed doors. The clerk opens the door after a few moments, and we walk in. My wife asks why we had to wait outside in the cold so long. At this point you would expect an experienced hospitality worker to defuse this situation with apologies and pleasantries, but this clerk decides to adopt an attitude and start arguing with my wife. After two or three minutes of having to endure an attitude and verbal abuse from the clerk I decided to chime in. I can only assume that this clerk was someone’s good friend or family member to be hired into a job that requires people skills, which she clearly did not possess. Again, a trained hospitality worker would never conduct themselves in this manner. This clerk decided to show us who’s boss and refused to check us into the room that we had already paid for. I cannot articulate in words how unfit this clerk was to be in this position. At a few ticks passed midnight now, we had to check into the Hilton down the street. Unsure if this is a companywide problem, or just a bad apple that slipped through the hiring process. I filed a complaint directly to the owner of Drury Hotel, Chuck Drury, how touts friendly service and to never stop working to earn your loyalty on the company website. He never responded but passed me on to a regional director that gave me the usual lip service. Clearly, Chuck’s words touting service and loyalty are lip service too! My personal conclusion is that Drury doesn’t care about customer service, or hiring people that have customer service skills, so you can roll the dice with Drury hotels, but there’s no guarantee they’ll treat you with friendly service, or even let you through the door! By the way, the Hilton in Florence was great, comfortable bed and quiet room. $100...
Read moreSmiles, smiles, smiles! That is what you will receive the moment you enter til the moment you leave. The Drury is known for this if you didn't know. The service you receive is phenomenal. You can't go wrong. They pride themselves with this kind of service. The location of this hotel is perfect. Easy off the interstate. Close to lots of food choices if you want/need it but their kickback evening buffet is perfect for us. We are usually quite tired after a long days drive and it's so refreshing to kick back and not have to go out to find food. If you don't like the food on the buffet, you can always go to the bar area and order from their Kitchen+bar menu. Burgers, chicken sandwich, turkey melts, salads, pizza, appetizers like loaded tater tots, spinach and artichoke dip, wings down to desserts like lava cake, warm cherry galette and even a root beer float. Breakfasts are always hot and tasty. Popcorn in the lobby during the afternoon. So many nice perks. There are 3 downsides to this review. 1) The beds, while somewhat comfortable, to get the best night, sleep in the middle of the bed. Since most people don't sleep there it's the least flattened place. 2) the road noise is horrible! Jake brake like noise all night long. Also the location must be in line with the airport in Cincinnati. Up to 11ish at night or beginning around 6ish in the morning you may hear planes. 3) this one is probably the most frustrating. They use motion sensors in the bathroom. Its supposed to be energy efficient but it's annoying as heck at 230am when you wake up and need to use the bathroom. It's a freakin lighthouse beacon! It'll wake up the entire room. And then you might as well get on the road because trying to go back to sleep after that startling awakening is near impossible.
Because of all the other hits with this hotel family, and it's like you're a part of their family, we will continue to stay at The Drurys. We are still trying to figure out a "fix" for the bathroom light and if I figure it out, I'll update this review to help other travelers. Do I recommend this hotel? YES! Do I recommend corporate address the motion sensors? DOUBLE YES! Help a weary traveler out. Give us a peaceful nights sleep for those who must get up during the night and those of us who...
