Hotel does NOT honor reservations/confirmations! I made a reservation in mid-June for a mid-September stay at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Forest City, North Carolina to attend the World Equestrian Games. My reservation was made through Expedia, paid for, indicated my stay was confirmed and I did not need to call to reconfirm. On September 12, after driving 11.5 hours (over 550miles), I arrived at 3:30pm and was told by the front desk associate that they did not have a room for me due to water damage to “my” room and there was no other availability. I was shocked and frustrated because of driving all day assuming I had accommodations. When I asked what I should do, I was told that I could check with other hotels in the area for a room. Seriously? With an international event being held locally (the expectation was approximately 500,000 people would attend) we all know that all hotel rooms in that vicinity on the date of my arrival were booked solid. I requested to see the manager who also indicated the room reserved for me was damaged and that since they wouldn’t be able to help me, I would need to call Expedia. I asked if I could at least see the room damage and at that point I was asked by the manager to leave the premises… twice. Since the entire interaction had been pleasant and professional, I respected their request and went to my car to call Expedia. Expedia informed me that since they had a confirmation number, I was guaranteed a room. The Expedia representative called the manager, Richard Liebeck, on my behalf and was also told there was no room available. Expedia indicated the manager was rude to them as well. Frankly, I am extremely disappointed that any hotel would permit a single female to travel such a long distance knowing there was no room available, make no effort to notify me prior to my travel date, and not be of any assistance in finding me alternative accommodations in an area they were familiar. Unfortunately they have lost a customer. I cannot use a business that has no regard...
Read moreElectricity was off in our house for second day and was looking for a place to stay locally for the night. Called and asked for availability and rate for the evening and was put on hold for about 10 min. Called back and reiterated my request. Representative said they needed to get General Manager approval for all people wanting to stay that were local, because they had had a few problems. They said that they were waiting for the GM to call them back. I said I would call back in 1/2 hour while I looked for another place to stay. I called back in 20 minutes and this is the response I received. That because I was going to need a big room with 2 beds and a pull out, (for my tall son to sleep on), they only had a pull out that was regular size and they didn't think it would be big enough. I said he slept on a pull out the previous night elsewhere and could they please tell me availability and rate. Was put on hold again and after 10 minutes I hung up. I guess they really don't want to rent to local people. The rest of the story is that when I went to their competition (across the street- awesome place) and I told them the story, they competition said that there were drug deals going on a few weeks earlier, and that all the area hotels were hit on for drug dealing. Needless to say I will never give a dime or a minute of my time to this hotel chain again, nor will I recommend to any of my out of town guests that they stay here. Horrible...
Read moreA first it's a nice new this year hotel but there are issues It's clean and new and the staff is nice. I called ahead they accommodated my request for adjoining rooms. Rooms were serviced nicely each day and the usual breakfast was fine. But... The blinds in one of our rooms would not work. I called the desk and was told not to touch them, they were aware of the issue and the front desk staff brought me a huge blanket that I had to throw over the window each night. One of the doors between the rooms had the door plate laying in the floor between the doors when I open them the first night. I propped open the doors so my kids could go back and forth and we left the plate thing in the floor. I did that on the first night we arrived and it stayed that way for 3 days. Now that I have checked out the hotel says they are charging me $230 for damaging the door. Then the outdoor area with a fireplace and seating area....nope... Can't use that in Oct. No one was allowed out there. I asked each day when we could go and the desk staff all said "tonight it should be fine" On the night before we left they finally said the floor was being repaired and no one could go out there for 72 hours. So much for a nice fire on a cool fall night in Oct. I hope they don't try to charge me...
