I’m a loyal Hilton Honors member and general fan of the Hilton brand, traveling a lot for work. I usually stay at a non-Hilton hotel when in this part of the country, but thought I’d give this place a shot. Online reviews were mixed, so I felt prepared enough … but I think the jury is still out as to whether or not I would stay here again…||PROS:||- Grateful for a quick check-in when I arrived well before check-in time. Staff were friendly, despite the complete and utter lack of acknowledgment of my Hilton Honors status.||- Hotel seems very new, and my room was large, bright, and clean.||- Super quiet at night, and the beds were super super super cosy (loved the amazingly soft bedding!).||- Hotel was within close walking distance to numerous restaurants and, if you like me, are up for the walk, there’s a large Publix only a 12-13-minute walk away.||- Small but efficient “business center” with desktop computer and good printer.||CONS:||- Only one of the three elevators were working during my stay, and even then, it was incredibly slow. Staff were very apologetic and I believe all three elevators were working again by the time I checked out.||- My bathroom sink did not drain properly.||- Water took forever to heat up in my room, and the shower sounded like (and worked like) a loud outdoor sprinkler. Also, the shower door wouldn’t close (is the building sinking??) and water went everywhere.||- No air-con in the hallways, which surprised me.||- Although I thought I had read everything about the hotel prior to my arrival, I was shocked at the $35 overnight parking charge. I opted to instead park in the small public parking lot opposite the hotel, which seemed to suit my needs just as well (and was much cheaper!). ||As others have commented, you will definitely find a lot of homeless people / drug addicts in the area, especially along the main road leading away from the hotel (toward downtown). But you don’t have to walk down that street, and they seemed to be generally harmless. That being said, I wouldn’t feel comfortable walking around alone at night.||Despite the hotel itself having everything I needed, I’m still in two minds about staying here again, based on the area itself, as well as the...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel for 9 nights while my place was being repaired. I booked 2 rooms, one bedroom suite and a studio accessible suite for my mom. Both rooms were quite spacious and equipped with a small kitchenette, toaster, microwave and small fridge. Some glasses, dishes and dishwashing soap were also provided. Mattress was a bit too soft for my liking but it’s a matter of preference. The tiles in the bedrooms appeared to be dirty but I was told by an employee they were cleaned. Shame on Hilton for having used such cheap materials. It’s a duo concept hotel. Tru by Hilton is also part of the same building. On one side of the hallway are Tru rooms and the other are Home2Suites rooms which to be honest I found quite strange. Breakfast was simply horrible! I went to a different place for breakfast all 9 days I was there. It comprised of a to go bag that had a very hard bagel, boiled eggs, very sweet muffin and a small cream cheese. There was coffee, orange juice and some type of cranberry juice. Since Tru and Home2Suites are considered budget hotels, you will also encounter some interesting characters there to say the least. No turn down service and I had to request both rooms to be cleaned on my 5th day there. No one even attempted to come and ask if we had any trash which can lead to bugs in the room. I had to call the hotel desk twice on a Saturday night since some people in the room next door appeared to be having a party and playing very loud club music that kept me awake until 1:30 in the morning. Security was sent both times but the loud music continued after he left. Parking was another issue. Don’t expect to find any parking after 8 o’clock. You’ll find yourself double park as I wouldn’t recommend parking your cars in the street since the area appears not to be safe. Trust me, it’s worth paying the $20 or $25 the hotel charges for daily parking. There’s a very good Greenwise market about 7 minutes drive from the hotel where you can find some good hot food and organic products that can save you on eating out every day and Las Olas was 5 minutes by car. Overall a very disappointed experience and I wished I had spent $3,000.00 somewhere else. Do...
Read moreI was going to wait until I returned home to write a review, but after an incident with house keeping, I have to post one. I am a seasoned traveler as well as a Hilton honors member for at least 15 years. I was in my hotel room watching TV and waiting for housekeeping to service our room. They knocked on the door just after 2:30 pm and I asked the young lady if she needed me to leave and she mumbled a yes. I asked her a minute later if I should leave and she replied if you want to. So I decided to sit on the sofa and as long as I stayed out of her way, she can do whatever she needed to do. Another woman called me to the door and informed me that I needed to step out so she can clean the room. I responded I asked her twice and she said I could leave or stay. I was told by the older woman that she didn't understand the question. So I left and am in the lobby. This stay has been less than satisfactory as the first night here, my car was towed away and it cost me $197.00 to get it back. The parking here is atrocious and the hotel charges $30 dollars per night. I do understand this is a large city with little space, and as for the tow, the manager on duty credited me one night for the parking. The purpose of our trip here was for a medical conference at the convention center. Please be prepared to spend money here in this area of Florida. Everything is expensive. Parking is scarce so plan your parking and make sure you pay attention to signs wherever you park. Towing companies are lurking to hook up anyone who parks illegally and to get your car back, these towing places are in bad areas. Tripped over a homeless person while walking downtown. Try the Riverwalk with shops and eateries. Be prepared to spend. Had a 19 dollar salad and spent over 80 dollars for dinner . Home2 suites is a good Hilton property but the quality of service varies on where in Florida you are standing. The front desk and manager were...
