As someone who lived in Turtle Creek in Dallas, everyone associates The Crescent with upscale style & sophistication… So when I was planning on a little get away for my husband to celebrate an early anniversary & saw a brand new Crescent Hotel in Fort Worth?! Say more more, I was so excited but the excitement definitely faded fast unfortunately. The Fort Worth location completely lacks all of the grand beauty and glamour that the Dallas location simply oozes. The over all atmosphere is minimalist modern and looks like entire living rooms were just copy and pasted from a generic furniture show room floor, nothing stands out as a fantastic feature or splendid personality inside the lobby or the rooms. Upon check in, the front desk was welcoming and kind, our room was ready even though we arrived early, this was greatly appreciated. I had been in communication with Gary the concierge weeks prior to our arrival, discussing dinner reservations, offers through the hotel etc. Gary had specifically mentioned that he “can have an amenity placed in the room” for us since I did not qualify for the room upgrade/food credit special through the hotel itself. I thought that was a very thoughtful gesture and appreciated the kindness considering our anniversary. When my husband and I arrived in our room - there was no such amenity nor even a simple card celebrating our visit. This was a pretty big let down for me especially since I had been talking up the hotel the whole time leading up to our trip. I let the manager know when we got downstairs that the whole “moment” was missed but he said they would do something to correct the situation. They left a cute little plate of heart shaped macarons while we were out exploring the city. We did enjoy the outside patio area, the nights were absolutely beautiful and my husband and I had a wonderful evening during the “social hour” with a couple of cocktails. This location unfortunately lacks all the little details that make a property “upscale,” for example the lighting in the hallways at night are as bright as can be where as other truly luxury hotels would lower the lighting to a more moody & comfortable setting once the sun goes down. Another tiny yet noticeable example is how the canvas work that’s displayed down the hallways were definitely not measured correctly or thought through properly because the gold frame covers half of the room number placard that’s on the wall. The shower is spacious & big but the shampoo and conditioner is so far away from the overhead rain shower that you get chilly on the walk away from the warm water just to get to your shampoo, conditioner or soap. We also had to request to have our room turned down, this was not automatically done throughout the day as one would expect at a higher end hotel. The staff was nice, they offered bottles of water and they had a complementary hotel car to take you to locations within three miles from the hotel. We did enjoy a wonderful breakfast at Emilia’s one of the mornings. The room was spacious enough however at night at the top of the curtains - the brilliantly bright lights from the exterior leaked right through. Not from a crack in the curtain that I can use a pants hanger to fix closed but from the very top and the light was so bright it reminded me of leaving the light on in the kitchen but was too lazy to go turn off. I love staying in hotels for the freezing cold AC and the wonderful uninterrupted sleep but unfortunately the light leaking through definitely made it difficult to fall into a deep dark slumber. Over all I would say that this location was comfortable enough but in no way resembles the type of experience I was expecting and highly anticipating. The modern look is clean, simple and tame but in no way was anything about the stay memorable except maybe for the fact that I did end up being charged for that plate of...
Read moreIf you’re only here to read one line, then the essence off the story is do yourself a favor and stay at The Hotel Drover. This place is a fraud. A one-star Motel Six, masquerading as a five star Ritz Carlton. If you want the details, then read on. I recently had the displeasure of staying at the Crescent Hotel in Ft Worth, Texas, and from start to finish, it was an utter disappointment. With a price tag of $474 per room, the experience was far from the advertised “upscale” experience. It didn’t take long either. Upon arrival, despite having booked three rooms five months in advance for a relatives wedding, we were informed that two of our rooms were not ready for check-in at the promised time of 3:00 PM. As if this inconvenience wasn't enough, we had to endure hours of waiting while desperately needing to prepare for a wedding rehearsal dinner that very evening at 6:00. We were repeatedly told the manager was inspecting the rooms and they would be available shortly. The last room was available shortly before 7:00. The front desks incompetence, uncaring attitude and lack of consideration for guests' schedules was appalling. (Young blond girl at the front desk, oh you know who you are, that means you.) When I arrived in my room, the disappointments only continued. Despite not being handicapped, my wife and I were inexplicably assigned a handicap-accessible room with a roll-in wheelchair shower. The low set hand wand shower and automatic shut off were woefully inadequate and frustrating to use. This oversight demonstrated a blatant disregard for our preferences and needs. To add insult to injury, the room's television set only produced sound with no picture, rendering it essentially useless. Several room lights had burned out bulbs. It was evident that maintenance and upkeep were somewhat neglected in spite of the hotel being new. Housekeeping became an additional sore point. Our room wasn't serviced the following day until a 4:00 PM in the afternoon. We were scheduled to be at the wedding at 5;30. Imagine your wife getting ready for a wedding using the same towels and hand cloths she used the night before to get ready for the rehearsal dinner as well as that morning. It was more like camping than staying in a “upscale” hotel. Requests were met with the same lackadaisical attitude as check in the day before. Their busy and will be there when they can. However, checkout was simply the straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back.. Picture three daughters, a wife and the various bags and paraphernalia associated with attending a wedding. When I inquired about help with our bags I was informed that only one bellman was working that Sunday to assist with luggage, and it would be over an hour wait for his assistance. When I asked if I could utilize a luggage cart to manage our belongings myself, I was met with a curt refusal. This lack of flexibility and customer service was the cherry on top of a totally dismal hotel experience. Throughout our stay, the pervasive bad attitude of the staff left much to be desired. From the indifferent demeanor at the front desk to lackluster service in the restaurant, (we can’t seat seven), it was abundantly clear this hotel is understaffed, untrained, and that guest satisfaction was not a priority. I would recommend the owners send their staff for a weekend training retreat at a real five star, “upscale” hotel in order to understand what customer service truly means. From my experience, I can only conclude that The Crescent Hotel falls far short of even basic standards. In fact, I would hesitate to even award it a single star. Save yourself the frustration and disappointment by steering clear of this woefully inadequate establishment. There are better...
Read moreThe Crescent Hotel provided us with a lovely stay that exceeded my expectations. It is very modern and luxe, with great attention to detail and very friendly and professional service.
The room was very clean, spacious, and modern. Everything was tucked away nicely - built-in cabinetry with a drawer fridge. The bathroom layout was strange, with two showers (one was a roll-in) as I believe we received an accessible room, which I didn’t mind as I was traveling with family and extra space is needed. There is regular lights in the bathroom, but also an automatic light which was really nice at night.
Throughout our stay, we requested our car from the valet multiple times, sometimes more than once a day, and each time it took between 5-10 mins for it to arrive. Valet service was friendly and quick! The front desk attendants were generally knowledgeable and friendly - there was a misunderstanding about the availability of a pool on site. On check-in, we were told that there is a spa on the 2nd floor that we could use the pool at - however when we went to the spa, the front desk attendant there had no idea what the rules were about hotel guests using the pool, she had to flip through a binder until she found out about a “day pass” for $100/per person. No thank you, we passed on the day pass to use the pool.
The restaurant was great, our trip was for business AND pleasure, so there were days we had to hang out at the hotel, doing meetings and working a bit. The bar let us lounge for a few hours (they weren’t too busy) while we had breakfast, and we really enjoyed the bar at night. There are a few locals that come in at night and the bartenders were fun and made great cocktails. The food at Emilia was pretty good as well, we had pancakes, avo toast, chicken parm, pizza - everything was delicious.
The hotel also had a complimentary “house car”, an SUV, that we used to get to a museum one day because it was so cold out. The hotel is in the cultural district, close to so many museums, galleries, and the Dickies arena.
The only negatives were that sometimes housekeeping took a while to get to our room and clean it, and sometimes they didn’t do a great job (didn’t clean the large mirror once, garbage was left outside our door for a whole day). There was also a scheduled power outage during our stay, with fire alarms testing the next, however the manager was very kind and gave us a discount for dealing with this (I had to leave the hotel with wet hair as I couldn’t use my blow dryer the one day). Also, one of the panels would not stay closed and the blackout curtains were also unhooking in the front, reading other reviews I think it’s common, but the hotel should spend more time ensuring the rooms are in perfect condition.
While there are no dedicated work stations, there is a private boardroom that we were able to use for meetings, and there are lots of areas in the hotel lobby and lounge to work at, if necessary.
Overall, the hotel exceeded my expectations, the service was friendly and attentive (99% of the time), and we truly enjoyed our stay. We will...
