Overall, very disappointed in this stay. Having traveled for work for many years with IHG (was Platinum then Spire Elite since inception until the past recent year as I temporarily reduced travel due to birth of a child) this is by far the worst IHG Property I have stayed at, including one where an adult film was in production on one of the floors.
I had to make two reservations due to using one of my annual free nights, and immediately after booking called and spoke to a female rep to inquire about linking the bookings so we wouldn't have to shift rooms. She explained there was plenty of availability and just to notify the front desk clerk when we got there. Upon arrival, the front desk clerk stated since the bookings were for different types (free nights only get base level rooms and I paid for a higher level) that I would have to change since there was no availability. After explaining my phone call, he begrudgingly agreed to put me in one room for both nights. Note- the next guest in line had no reservation and asked if they had any availability, to which I overheard the clerk say "Oh yes, we can get you something".
Our second encounter with this same employee was when I had to ask for an extra/new blanket. We used the sofa bed for our two little kids, and the blanket in the bag in the closet had blood stains on it. I went down to the desk and asked for an extra, and the clerk stated that Housekeeping was gone for the day and would bring one the following day. As I needed one that night and asked him to check if one was available, to which he responded that there were none in the laundry area. I suggested he have someone check an unoccupied room, and after rolling his eyes he went and found one. It took about 2 minutes for him to return, obviously a huge inconvenience for him.
As far as the property itself, it was ok. Not the nicest area of town which unless you are a resident you would not know. The adjacent property is a low cost motel that had some late night patio parties going on. Our room was fine except the gasket on the shower head (it was a mobility room) was broken so the shower head would fall and point straight down requiring one hand to hold it in place while showering.
Overall, given the location and poor service from the staff, I would not recommend...
Read moreBreakfast was better than most continentals. Only complaint is that the pancake batter in the auto pancake machine was empty and the person working the breakfast area was unaware bc she was chatting with the desk clerk. A-| The indoor pool was clean and the water was numbingly cold for June in Texas. A++| Bed linens were clean and appeared like new. The bathroom grout around the shower was looking like it could’ve used a re-do. Some crumbling and mold seen around bathroom floor/walk edges. A-| The desk clerk at this hotel needs further training. I’m staying with my 4 yr old niece who closed the door after I had stepped around the corner on my floor (3) to get ice. The desk clerk wanted me to show my ID to make me another key to get back in the room where my ID was located so how could I provide my ID? That’s an unrealistic question to ask. I asked her if she wanted my DL # to prove who I was? Verify DOB, address, something else besides ID? She proceeded to tell me about “in the future we will need to see your ID to provide a room key”. She asked for my room # again after I’d already provided it. I came down to the desk from the elevator not the front door. We checked in yesterday, not today. I think answering other questions would be more appropriate and realistic than asking for ID that is already on file. She was very curt and rude as well as unrealistic. Contacted IHG chat. No response re: issue 3 days later. D| There is a large homeless/vagrant presence in and around the parking lot. A person was sitting in front of my car on the curb at the front of the hotel. The area is very close to I-30. I never saw any type of security in the lobby or parking lot. F| I will not stay here again. The parking lot is unsafe. The desk clerks are not friendly and treat you like you’re staying...
Read moreI am here about once a month. The hotel is fine: clean, hallways smell nice, sufficient towels and supplies provided, built in dispensers in the shower have high quality shampoo, body wash and conditioner. There is a gym and an indoor pool, although we haven't used them, they appear clean and in functioning order. There is a complimentary breakfast bar which includes a pancake machine, cheese omelette, egg white veggie omelette, turkey sausage patties, bacon, and cereal, milk various muffins etc. This was all available yesterday, but there are always a similar variety in the warm food: eggs, bacon, sausage, both regular and lower calorie versions. This is the first time I have visited since starting a low carb/keto diet and it was easy to accomodate it with the selection provided. The only problem we have ever had is the televisions in the rooms. They are large screen and visually fine, but the remote is not very responsive, it is very slow changing channels and the volume is somehow incredibly low/poor. We have to raise the volume to 50 or 60 to hear conversation in movies over the air conditioner, which isn't even obviously loud until you try to watch TV while it's on. Even with the television volume reading that high it is not actually that loud, by home television standards, it appears that the volume does not increase despite the rising number on the screen until you have raised it 5 - 10 levels. This has been consistent in several rooms we have stayed in. It's tolerable, you can turn the air conditioner off during a movie with lots of quiet conversation scenes, it's just a little frustrating when we visit and remember again that no matter how high the volume on the screen says it is, it isn't as loud as one would expect on a TV at home. Otherwise this is a great, simply...
