West Worth Inn & Suites — Hotel in White Settlement

I moved here to get some additional economy while starting a new job. I got a newer room at an appreciably better rate than any place within 5 miles. The room was comfortable, and the staff was nice. |Pro:|• Well appointed, albeit odd, room|• Good A/C|• Good plumbing|• Plenty of power for charging|• Secure (Off the main road)|• Quiet|• Friendly staff|• No stink I the room|• On site laundry||Cons:|• They charged me $10 to not smoke, yes that’s right. It made me mad really, but the price overall was lower than elsewhere. They could have called it anything else, and I would not mention it here, but that’s not right. I’m sure had I smoked I would have been charged too, but I’m not sure why I was penalized for stupid actions of others|• Wow, was it ever smelly. The office was ripe with curry, and the hall to the second-floor units was a putrid stench of smoke, and something. I literally held my breath coming home down the hall hoping it would not stick to my business casual|• Sparse breakfast with the world’s weakest coffee. I think they wave a single coffee bean over the water|• There are no lamps in the rooms. Only a spot light in the face to read by. Not a super big deal.|• Maintenance is being deferred, so the outlook is not great for the property. One room was boarded up, and the carpet is, well, the smell. (However, the room did NOT stink. I was happy)|• Also, when I left they threw my forgotten water pick cord away very quickly. I expected that, but when someone asks if you have one, at least “look” at the lost and found before being the disappointment. ||I would not stay here with my wife, but if I were in town again for work, I might stay there again. I thought I had booked the new Scottish Inn on 820, a couple of miles away in White Settlement. So when I realized the error of my ways, I feared what this one would look like. But, lo and behold, it's brand new too! ||||That's the best thing I can say about it--new and clean. The rooms aspire to high modern style, and come with shooting distance of it--with granite countertops, for instance. But the evidence of shoddy construction is everywhere. In my first room, the toilet was askew because otherwise, the bathroom door would not have shut. The deadbolt on the outside door did not work, and the baseboard material was hanging off the wall. The TV remote was missing. Worst of all was the traffic noise from the West Freeway. Even though the Inn sits back a block from it, I could have sworn that those trucks were rolling down the sidewalk outside my window--all night long!||||The next night, I was able to move to a room on the back side--what a difference! It was amazingly quiet back there (see the view in the photo), so I got a good night's sleep. I might come back based on that, but the office has issues. I saw one customer wander in while I was eating breakfast, then leave because no one was staffing the desk. It appears to be a shoestring operation.||||There was a breakfast buffet, which was minimal but okay. About what you would expect for a budget establishment. As best I remember, the wifi did...

The room had stains and dents and marks everywhere. Cigarettes had been burned into the blankets and never replaced. The worst part was that the bathroom was covered in a small pool of water that eventually reached the carpet. I discovered it in the middle of the night and went to the front desk which was far away and they have NO ONE MANNING IT AT NIGHT. You can't even go inside, you have to ring a doorbell at a service window in a shady area and hope for the best. I waited 5min before I ducked back into my room and tried calling, but no one would answer either. Wasn't able to get much sleep due to the yelling from other guests and construction going on, but when I did manage to fall asleep for a short while, I woke up to a quarter sized spider on my ceiling. Oh, and some bugs had drowned in the water as well. I wanted to get a refund but when I talked to the person working at the front desk in the morning, they ignored my complaining about being unreachable at night and told me that it was normal for there to be some puddles "when guests in the other rooms take showers." Wow. They said they would send someone to my room to take care of it but no one did. The only positive thing I can say about this place is that their waffle maker makes Texas shaped waffles, which...
