I recently visited Steamboat for a vacation and had an unforgettable experience at Ski Haus. Before the trip, I contacted Ski Haus to purchase new ski equipment from knowledgeable locals. The staff was very responsive and helpful in preparing for my arrival. Andrew Stoller, the buyer/manager, along with Justin and Charlie, were extremely helpful. They were friendly and knowledgeable about skiing, and patiently listened to my needs and preferences. They recommended the perfect pair of skis and boots for me, considering my age and love for carving and skiing bumps. I settled on BlackCrows Mirus Cor and Solomon S/PRO SUPRA BOA 120. I was also concerned about the safety of my knees, so we agreed that Look Pivot 12s were ideal for my circumstances. Justin did an impressive job fitting my boots, determining an ideal boot that suited my ski style, foot type, and prior foot ailments. As someone with arthritis in my big toe from years of soccer, he molded the boot to avoid any pain. By the end of the experience, my feet were comfortable, and the perfect lateral fit of my new boots resulted in a noticeable improvement in my skiing. Overall, I am extremely happy with my experience at Ski Haus and have decided to connect with them directly for any future gear needs. I highly recommend Ski Haus to anyone looking for ski gear.

Came to Steamboat with regular running shoes to pace a friend running a 100 mile trail race. After a day of hiking to acclimate, it was clear that my running shoes did not have enough tread to handle the trails. So in a panic on the day of the race, we went to Ski Haus for trail running shoes. Was disappointed that there were no Brooks trail shoes, but the sales gal couldn't be nicer. She asked me to slip off my shoe so she could look at the shape of my foot. She brought out at least 6 different pairs and even pulled a pair from the clearance rack for me to try. After trying on every pair and not looking at any prices, I fell in love with a pair of Salmon Vibes. I figured they would be the most expensive ones but turns out they were 30% off! Best shoe buying experience I have had in a long time.

Great customer service at a very reasonable price! We found this place after looking up places to rent our ski sets. This place turned out to be the most cheapest, kindest and well-equipped rental store around the town. We were able to rent our skis for almost the half price compared to the nearby shops. Staffs are super knowledgeable and friendly. We went back to the store to change the boots size and other services, and the staffs helped us with great customer service. We will definitely go back to this store in the future for sure!

I live here in Steamboat and always point guests towards rentals at SkiHaus, and when I need to rent something I head there as well. Last week some friends came to town, so we rented cross country skis at SH, of course. Service picking them up was great. The equipment was great, as always. But upon returning them the next day I was incredibly disappointed. I had my 7mo with me, but no other adults to return 3 sets of gear (boots, skis, poles). I thought for sure, if they weren't busy, someone would offer to help. Instead, a group of about 7 guys just stood around the final station (poles/helmets area) and stared at me as I made trips back and forth with a baby on my hip and the ability to carry two poles or a pair of skis on each trip. They were just standing around talking, no customers in sight. No one opened a door, no one offered to help, and the one person I asked for help said he needed to go do something and didn't have time. Finally, one lovely gentleman arrived and saw me and immediately offered help on my last trip out of 8 back and forth to my car. Then, once my equipment was scanned in (by one of the guys who had stood watching me carry a baby and equipment back and forth for 20 minutes) he announced that my gear was an hour late and I owed him a second day on all of the gear (around $60). I totally understand that I was late and shouldn't have been. But I guess I also expect a teeny bit of understanding (which might be completely unfair to expect). And I'm certain it was upsetting moreso because of the experience I'd had carrying things in. Anyway, at this point I just walked to the register to pay my tab, but resolved to write an honest review and to find a new place to rent skis. But just before I got to the register, the gentleman who arrived later and immediately offered to help walked by and saw the computer screen that had been used to check in my skis. He summoned me over and knocked the bill down to $0 and kindly smiled and opened the door for me. He completely saved my experience. And while I'm still very disappointed in the rest of the staff, I'm so grateful to this one gentleman for showing some humanness...

Went in to try and pick up a base layer, new ski pants, and possibly some winter boots. First employee seemed resistant to pull out boots for me to try on, watched me silently the entire time, and then told me where a mirror was in a curt tone. I would’ve liked to try on another pair, but I guess the sale isn’t that important to them. Looked at some base layers and was torn between wool and synthetic choices. Asked another employee their opinion and they responded, “They’re just different.” Glad that was pointed out to me. The employee proceeded to follow me for the rest of my time there. Used to work retail myself, you don’t follow someone for 45 minutes unless you’re watching for shoplifting. I suppose they don’t see many tattoos in Steamboat?

The same employee followed me up to the till, as if they earn their commission not on customer service but on judgement and contempt.

Important to note: no employee offered help.

No greeting coming in, standing in the shoe area with three employees loitering behind the checkout desk, holding 5-6 items to try on with no offer to set up a fitting room, all staff watching like vultures. Help was only given when asked. I mean, this is basic stuff in retail. Just surprised a Footlocker provides a better experience.

Would’ve walked out without any purchases, but hey, probably would’ve gotten frisked and thrown into a TSA security line.

Not one star because the selection and prices weren’t bad, especially for such a...

My husband and i have purchased multiple bikes, clothing, skis, boots etc from sk haus over the past few years. To the tune of about 15,000 in the past two years. Today while riding our mountain bikes my husband barely touched his brakes and flipped over the handlebars. We went to the closest bike shop (orange peel) and were told there was a recall on his brakes. They offered to fix brakes and said they would submit the bill to the brake company for the recall. We felt we should call ski haus re: the recall as this is where we purchased the bikes etc. After being put on hold several times i was told that we would have to pay $175 for new brakes. When i said i did not understand this given what orange peel had said the man on the phone told me that was the best they could do and that was "the end of the story". I called the manager to discuss this and she very nicely called me back stating the person on the phone said he did not know we had purchased the bikes at their store ?? If he had listened to my concerns instead of being RUDE he would have know i stated up front that we purchased bikes there. We will not be giving ski haus any more of our money. Orange Peel mechanics were very kind and helpful. We like to support local businesses. There are plenty of other places in town!! Dont waste money here. Customer service is...
