I am honestly shocked by the good reviews of this hotel. It makes me wonder if they are paid reviews.
We are budget travelers. We easily stay in hostels with no issues. But this hotel is not nice by any stretch of the word.
We stayed 2 nights. We were phoned on our day of check in to find out “what time we would be arriving.” I found that to be pretty rude. They had emailed me the day before to let me know the latest check in was 11 pm and I politely responded letting them know we would be there before 11. So why are you calling me at 3 pm to find out what time we will be arriving?
This place is tucked behind a fast food restaurant and hard to see at night. There was some kind of construction in the parking lot and the hotel was dimly lit. When we entered we were met by a woman at the front desk who definitely enjoys a good chat. We try to be kind but really we just want to get to our room. She asks for my credit card and charges the wrong amount. Then proceeds to argue with me for the next 5 minutes about why their email with my guaranteed price from their website was incorrect. So much so that my boyfriend left and went to the car. Finally she got the man who lives there (my assumption is that he was the owner). Who explains and then refunds the difference. This whole check in process took over 45 minutes.
We get to our room and it also was dimly lit with light switches all over the room. The room was old. Really old. Had a musty smell but the bed appeared clean. I’m not sure why others are reporting recently renovated rooms because ours stepped right out of the late 80’s. The room had an AC system that constantly clicked on and off so much so that we finally decided to just leave the AC fan running constantly. The room was small but made good use of the space having a desk, tv and mini fridge. The bathroom was tiny and the shower required a lot of fiddling to get working well enough to wash your hair. The carpet was old but what was most disgusting to me was that when I dropped my cord and went to pick it up I got a look under the AC where there was old molded food, caked dirt and dropped coins. A quick swipe of the vacuum should’ve gotten all of this. I then went to get in bed to find a large dead centipede on the floor next to my bed.
Directly outside of our room was a parking lot street light. It did a better job lighting our room with the shades closed then it did lighting the parking lot. With no other way to darken our room we just had to deal with constant light coming in our room.
The next morning I went to the front desk to get ice at 6:30 am. I was told someone would be there starting at 6. No one was there. Rang the bell. No one came. Searched for an ice machine to no avail. Came back 15 minutes later. Still no one. Later that evening the woman advised me that the person had “overslept” and she gave me ice for the next day. Luckily I put the ice container in the fridge and most of the ice lasted. But seriously, can’t they get an ice machine?
We were advised that the advertised free breakfast was not served due to Covid. We had just come from another hotel which did grab and go but this was not offered here.
Most concerning to me was the area and others hotel goers or stragglers in the area. Both mornings we left there we saw different random people hanging out on the side of the hotel. They did not appear to be vacationers but instead likely locals. This area in general was just not well kept. Definitely did not give me the Disney feeling.
Overall, we would not stay again. Even for the price we paid I feel like we got ripped off.
Pros: Less than 20 minutes to the Disney gates Low cost nightly rate
Cons: Dirty room Old and not well kept Bad general location Strange people around the hotel No breakfast as advertised No ice or ice machine Poor shades to keep the light out Poor staffing (arguing over booked price, not having staff on duty when quoted) No room cleaning or towel...
Read moreLet me start this review by saying this is only the 2nd review I’ve ever written in my life and I’ve stayed at hotels/motels for the better part of the past 15 years. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My brother and sister in law along with my wife stayed here recently as we were in town for vacation. The issues began right as we got in with the room being dirty, the water pressure in the shower sucked, and the toilet was clogged. We checked in late so we didn’t find out about the toilet issue until 930. I went to the front desk to ask for a plunger and unclogged the toilet. Naturally we had a few laughs over the incident and it wasn’t 5 minutes later before we received a knock on the door from the front desk employee. He said they had received “noise complaints” about our room and asked us to keep it down. We thought it was a bit early for a noise complaint but we didn’t think anything of it and were asleep by 10.
The next morning we woke up early to sight see and my brother in law asked the front desk for an extra key since our reservation was for the next three days. The lady at the front desk told my brother in law they weren’t allowing us to stay another night and we needed to leave immediately. She initially provided no explanation for kicking us out while having an attitude with my brother in law. When he asked for a reason why she said they received multiple noise complaints last night about our room being too loud and that we were intoxicated. Mind you we didn’t have anything to drink and there was not even any alcohol in our room. At this point the manager walks in and the desk lady says to the manager “This is them” in a negative tone. My brother in law tried simply talking to the manager to explain our situation and tried to ask him if we could stay. The manager didn’t listen to anything he had to say and replied in a short rude voice “We’re done here” while telling us we needed to leave and they were going to cancel our reservation. At this point we had no where to go and the closest hotels were all over 250 dollars a night since we were close to the Disney parks.
As we were walking back to grab our belongings the manager stopped us and finally asked for our side of the story. We explained about the toilet situation, how the employee knocked on our door at 930 telling us to keep it down, and how we fell asleep shortly after that. We explained how we had nothing to drink and they could even do a walkthrough of our room if they felt the need too. The manager then went on to apologize while telling us the “noise complaint” they received was from a guest who frequently stays with them and always complains about rooms around them being too loud. He even admitted that 930 was way too early to be receiving a “noise complaint” while having no explanation or reason for why him and his staff were so rude to us in the first place. He walked us back into the lobby and told the lady that we were allowed to stay. The lady, upon hearing that she had messed up in the first place, continued to have RBF and never apologized to us while continuing to be rude to us (right in front of the manager). We stayed the remainder of our reservation, luckily without further issues.
If you’re looking to find a hotel close to the Disney parks (which I’m sure is the only reason someone would stay at this shithole) please do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. This was the most unpleasant and rude encounter we have ever had traveling and was completely avoidable if the hotel staff had simply...
Read moreWe stayed here for 2 1/2 weeks recently and it was a very good experience. This is not a fancy hotel by any means but it is a quality hotel. Our original hotel cancelled on us upon entering Orlando and we needed a last minute replacement. I managed to find this hotel and book it for a week with an hours notice. I sent a message requesting a microwave and fridge if possible and was quickly responded to stating that both were in the room- excellent.
Check in was quick and easy, the front desk lady we dealt with at that time was grumpier than the rest of the staff. We had a pretty uneventful week there- minimal noise, quick waits for the elevator.
We added a few more days- and eventually added an additional week to our stay, which the owner was incredibly accommodating to us which we are eternally grateful for especially being over Christmas.
Halfway through our stay we were asked to switch rooms because something was wrong with the shower- no issues there. We loaded up and went to a new room. Instantly upon entering it smelled musty and I had a headache. We spent about an hour in the room and it just got worse, and I quickly realized that there was a significant amount of mold growing in the air conditioning. I immediately went and told management and we were switched rooms, stating they would clean that right away. Our new room also had some mold growing in the air conditioning (and I’m not sure if our original room had it growing) but I informed them again and told them we were leaving for the afternoon. While we were gone the air conditioning was thoroughly cleaned and well maintained. We had an issue with our fridge not being cold enough in the new room, and as soon as I mentioned it they came and addressed it.
On the last day of our stay it was hectic and my daughter ended up sick and management was incredibly understanding and kind given the circumstance. My kids loved everyone there and it was overall a very good experience.
There are a few cons, but not many I will mention for anyone looking for specifics.
There is no breakfast, but they also don’t advertise breakfast. There are no bath tubs, only stand up showers. They are big but our first room had a handle, our second room didn’t and my kids fell hard in both showers because the bottom is incredibly slippery. Some light fixtures are loose and some flickered a lot. Overall it’s mostly clean; there are corners of the rooms that could use some more attention and the fridges could use a clean before the new guests. The pool is not heated so it’s very cold.
Overall the beds are comfy, pillows are good, it’s in a good location with a good price. It’s not loud, it’s not overly busy and the staff is very nice. I will definitely recommend this place to others and if I need to, I’d...
