We have been coming to this hotel for eight years, and unfortunately, our last visit was a bit disappointing. I checked in and noted that we received a room on a different side of the hotel than we normally stayed in. When we got to the room, it had 2 chairs and not a sofa bed, so we did not have anywhere for our kids to sleep. I went to the front desk and I was given a couple of different options as my room type was not available. I finally settled on a king bed with a sofa bed, but I could not get the kitchenette. I was disappointed because I brought popsicles and beverages to freeze. We had a small fridge in our room, but we could not get it to freeze at all during our stay. In fact, it barely kept anything froze. We were told our room wasn't ready and needed to be cleaned, so we had to go drive around for 40 minutes with two kids. When we got our room, we were on the second floor, which was fine, but the elevator was out of order. The stairs are very steep and it made me very nervous having to carry our heavy luggage up and down them. The parking lot on the side facing Fulton's was very dirty and full of trash and cigarette butts. The pool, which is normally sparkling, was also dirty and had several bandaids in it. There is one table for public use, but a family put their stuff on it the entire time we were there, and we could not use it to eat. We had to eat at the pool tables. Every one was covered cigarette butts. I had to go get paper towels to remove them so we could sit down. Normally, this hotel is very clean, but this time we considered it to be very dirty. Our first night, we were short one pillow, probably because the room was not originally ready. I called down to the front desk to ask for one pillow. The lady was not rude, but seemed very put out, and told me twice that she would have to lock up everything in order to get my pillow. We always opt to not have cleaning services and I just tidy our room and take out the trash on my own. I asked the cleaning lady in the hall for 4 clean towels. She said that she only had 2 and there were not any additional clean towels available, so I needed to call down to the front desk later to get some. I did not want to inconvenience the front desk lady again, so we just shared the towels. Later that night, there was a large family party going on at midnight (pool closes at 10), but again, didn't want to call down to the front desk. The next day, we took the girls down to swim at 9:15 a.m. The pool opens at 9 a.m. The cleaning guy said he wasn't finished and it would be about another 20 minutes. I asked if we could get in the hot tub while we waited, but he said no because it was broken. It was working at midnight the night before when the family was having a party. I normally wouldn't mind, but we had to leave by 11 a.m. We waited and he finished around 9:30 a.m. We got in a quick swim and headed on our way. It was not a terrible visit, but it had so many small problems. I met a gentleman at the pool and he said that he had just had a heart attack and knee surgery and was struggling with the elevator being out of order. He also commented how it was not as clean as it had been...
Read moreEXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING!! We're return guests and our prior experience with this inn was great. However, this trip was so heinous that we will not be returning and will no longer recommend it to our friends! Late on our last night there I got up to visit the bathroom and there were multiple bugs crawling all over the bathroom! We just stayed in the room since check out was a few hours away. When we told the woman at the front desk and showed her pictures, her only response was an unenthusiastic "I'll write it down in the log." She didn't seem surprised or concerned at all, she never even apologized. The bugs weren't even the beginning of the problems. We were forced to spend our weekend with an extremely large, loud, rowdy, and intoxicated family. They tried to throw a woman so drunk she couldn't even stand into the pool, when I reported their dangerous behavior the front desk kicked US out of the pool along with the family. Even after that they spent the night screaming and running up and down the courtyard directly outside the front desk, we could hear them from inside our room on the other side of the hotel. I guess the front desk decided it was too much work to keep trying to settle them down because they just let them continue all night long. Also, the hotel handbook that was in our room bragged about amazing "in room dining" but when I called at 10:30pm to order off the menu they provided, I was told that there wasn't any room service or "in room dining" available. Turns out their advertised "in room dining" is actually just delivery from the restaurant across the street that closes at 9 pm on Friday nights!! I double checked the book and there was no mention of time restrictions at all! Overall a very very unpleasant experience...
Read moreThe view of the Fulton Harbor is always good and being close to Charlotte Plummer's was nice, hence the three stars. The hot tub was out of order. The lady at the front desk said repairs had been ordered, but we did not see anyone working on the hot tub the two days when we were there. She said she would talk to the owner about getting a credit to my bill, which did not happen. The worst part was, the bar near The Inn was playing very loud music until wee hours of the night and the bass could be heard in our room, even with the air conditioning fan on. This made it hard to get to sleep. The room was dingy. We stayed in a double queen kitchenette. There is a microwave, full-sized fridge, some dishes and utensils, also some pots and pans with a plug-in cook top. The microwave light was burned out. The fridge is old and outdated, with rust and a little mold inside. The ice bucket was not cleaned from the previous guests and had water and mold in it. The room is in need of a deep cleaning. There seemed to be "specks" of stuff everywhere, little spots of dirt or worse in the bathroom, around the bathroom door frame, toilet rim, hair in the bath tub. Bath tub is dingy and outdated, scratched. Shower curtain had a tear in it. This really is a basic, no frills room and it a little expensive for what you get. The Inn was not crowed, maybe two other couples staying the weekend. On the other hand, the Light House down the street was packed. Breakfast consists of calling ahead and the front desk will prepare a bag with cereals, beagles, juice and fresh fruit for...
