I've stayed at Courtyard by Marriott Gaithersburg a few times during the pandemic. It is located in the heart of Washingtonian Rio and is a short walk to the movie theater, restaurants, and shops. They have a small parking lot to the side of the hotel for guest registration and unloading. Additional parking is available in the retail parking garages. The check-in and check-out process was smooth. When I checked in, they told me about their weeknight happy hour from 5-10pm with discount on beer and wine and handed me a small flyer with guest information about their bistro, fitness center, housekeeping, and parking. If they offered complimentary coffee and tea throughout the day and night to guests and two complimentary water bottles to their Elite rewards members, I'd give them 5 stars.
The bistro located on the 2nd floor serves basic Starbucks drinks, breakfast, and dinner. For breakfast, they have the following items: Two Egg Omelet, Eggs Your Way, Bistro Breakfast Sandwich, Balanced Breakfast Sandwich, Breakfast Burrito, and Classic Oatmeal. For dinner, they may have the following items: Avocado Lemon Yogurt Dip, Caesar Salad, Margherita Flatbread, Loaded Tot - Chos, and Grilled Chicken & Bacon Quesadilla.
During my stay, I had breakfast at their bistro. I had a Two Egg Omelet made with egg whites, gruyere, and caramelized onions. It was served with crispy herb potatoes and ketchup and dressed with lemon EVOO. It was delicious.
My room (including the bathroom) was clean, spacious, and great view of the Rio lakefront. In terms of toiletries, they provided makeup wipe, facial bar, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. I liked how the showers were hot. The bed and sofa bed were super comfy. My only complaint was the walls aren't very insulated - you can hear conversations, opening and closing of doors, nature, and...
Read moreThis Courtyard has one of the house keeping services that I have encountered. I've been to a lot of hotels every year for business or for leisure and never have encountered a poor poor house keeping service from a well known Marriott system. After late arrival coming from the west coast I as already exhausted. I've first checked in to a room and noticed that if was facing the parking lot then I've checked the beddings to see if it was changed from the prior guest after prior encounter with the Wydham Hotel in Cincinnati and I've noticed the bedding was not changed. After grabbing dinner from the next door restaurant, I've then requested for a room change. The front dest was very considerate and gave me the same floor room. After moving into the second room and settled down, I've performed the same routine and noticed that the mattress beddings and pillow covers were not changed from the prior guest. At that time I was tired and still have some work to wrap up before the next day so I've decided not to reflect to the front desk and just leave a note for the house keeping for the next day. Next day, I've left a note for the room keeper to see if they can change the entire sheets and covers since it was from the prior guest. That night, coming back from work, I've noticed that they didn't follow direction and the sheets was still from the prior guest. At that moment, I've decided that I would not require a house keeping for the remaining two nights. The staff seems very nice but I really think the management would know about this issues and perhaps trying to cut cost for...
Read moreThis hotel was recently renovated in the rooms. The rooms were very nice looking but a little sparse as far as decorating. For example the entry to my room had a wide hall of about 12 ft from the door to the sitting area. No pictures or lamps or anything on either side of the hall. Looked empty and clinical. I was barely greeted when I arrived but she was still pleasant. I was not offered any water or sanitizer wipes like the other Marriott hotels do it this time. Fortunately I bring both with me. I immediately noticed there was no coffee maker in the room. While this may not be a big deal, they advertise that they do have them. If they no longer provide coffee makers, they should stop advertising that they do. This was easily rectified by going out in the morning and purchasing coffee. I was in room 609. I recommend that you do not stay in any room ending in 09. It's right next to the elevator. It was a constant sound of elevators going up and down all night. Kind of like a distant passenger train. I should have gone downstairs and had my room changed but I was just too tired. I would have said something in the morning on my way out but there was nobody at the front desk so I just left.. as a final statement, as I said the room looked very new.. When I used my sanitizer to wipe down hard surfaces, the wipe was pretty dirty when I was done. It could have easily been construction dust or just lack of actual cleaning. I have to say I wasn't overly thrilled...
