All right, to be honest this is my granddaughter‘s favorite place to go when we go on our outings down in the Rio I usually get breakfast we usually get breakfast together that’s our most favorite things at the Silver Diner is the pancakes, the little pork sausages, and what not I’ve gone there for lunch I really love the liver, the crab cakes But when it comes down to the french fries, no matter how you say can I get it hard, deep-fried crunchy fries Not here or with your meal the waiter always comes back to the table with french fries that look like they just stuck it in the microwave and if they try to cook it any longer It was just not gonna look as white as if it just came out the bag Always always disappointing that I don’t ask for french fries anymore also when they are having a staff meeting, they’re rushing to get to that meeting even though it’s at the counter they will not know whose food is whose food because they just trying to get to this meeting. It is necessary for all staff so far when it comes up to certain things that we’ve ordered, we always order it but when is the french fries baby, then french fries could be a tiebreaker for me. It makes me just wanna go home and make it myself but as what I’ve come to realize is that Silver Diner does hard fry so how can I ask for them to fry it if I never taste any oil and it just look like they took out of the bag and put it in the air fryer and just left it at a set temperature regular folks like. kind of disappointing to ask for something that you’re willing to pay for, but it be some bull. I really appreciate the management. Answer my call about the hot chocolate and let me know the name of it and how much caffeine it had in it when I called from a doctors appointment that was nice of them to do that when some restaurants would’ve been like click, we’re busy, but that was good. Other than that my family is a frequent customer but we are all know what stuff we like and what stuff we don’t. My biggest thing is the french fries but when it comes down to the drinks at the bar, yes you’re gonna leave there with a little bit of a give the keys to somebody else just yeah the bartender back there here she must work at a nightclub because they do the drinks, the healthy drinks with the cucumber and the other stuff not my flavor not my preference so we normally don’t get that the kids menu. Yes we love it either the breakfast mostly the breakfast, but this is our place because the one that we used to go to was in downtown Silver Spring, but now that they’ve all been revamped the one in the Rio is our favorite...
Read moreWe really enjoyed it so much that we went two days in a row the mojitas that we had on Friday we had the tropical and we had another one that had cucumbers in it they were kind of iffy but my daughter had something with pancakes and little potatoes and everything the potatoes were unseasoned but everything else was good I had back-to-back pancakes with the little sausages were so cute and flavorful it's on my granddaughter had the silver dollar pancakes with eggs and turkey bacon with a cup of grape juice she tore that up that was the first time we went to a restaurant other than McDonald's where she ate all her food which was very surprising because everything was good and she really enjoyed herself on Friday mornings is not really crowded so if you can get away to go go ahead the the manager he came over and he asked her everything was cuz back in the day we used to go to the one in Silver Spring Maryland Downtown Silver Spring and we ain't never saw a bar in the back of the restaurant or serving alcohol so it had been a number of years since we walked into a Silver Diner and on top of that we saw when this one was built at the Rio but we was thinking that it was going to be similar to the one in Downtown Silver Spring surprise surprise surprise we were when we decided to go two days in a row the end to see that the waitresses memorize our orders and it was really cool to see that there was no notebook at the time I guess like it was when we went many years ago to the Silver Diner the pancakes were really good the waitress on Friday was cheap with the syrup I was like okay but after I explained to the waitress on Saturday that pancakes need to be a little bit moist with syrup they don't need to be dry just because y'all don't want to bring the little tiny little white p i t c h e r s to the table but the waitress on Saturday brought me like six they are very cute I can tell you that but it's not like the bottles of syrup at IHOP where you can pour so you can moisten your pancakes but other than that we were happy and content we pretty much sat near the same boost chair table that we was at when we went on Friday with my granddaughter but Saturday was a mother and daughter day and we were highly surprised and impressed by the service the quality and the quantity of service and food plus drinks so when the waitress brought out the the little computer thing and the bill came up to $101 Plus $20 tip that was on Saturday on Friday it came up to about $80 plus tip so we might be back again one day this weekend thank you for making the experience and this becoming...
Read moreLooks good huh folks? Well it was not. My wife and I went here to celebrate our first year wedding anniversary. We love the location of Rio in general as we always hang out here. We had seen so many people eat at this Silver Diner that we figured let's give it a shot. BIG MISTAKE! Our hostess was nice. Our waiter was okay. Then we ordered our food. We decided to get some type of catfish tenders for appetizers. Our main entrees included a Beyond Burger Mac n Cheese and a chicken sandwich with French fries. Our drinks came promptly. I wasn't a fan of being carded for ID to drink as anyone who looks at me can guess I'm at least 30 and not 41 going on 42. We waited for at least 20-25 minutes for our food. Not cool as we should've been told upfront or at some point there might be a delay, check in with us, something! Nope nope! So after 20-25 minutes all our food comes at the same time, including the appetizers which we should've gotten first while waiting on our actual meals. We tried to put that to the side and eat the food, our last mistake! Everything was cold, even my wife's fries were cold to her standards. She took about 2-3 bites of her sandwich and fries and couldn't eat anymore. I couldn't eat anymore of mine as for me everything tasted not so fresh, a few days old and cold, no flavor what so ever, including from her food. Everything bland and not so fresh. I love drinking beers and IPAs. I usually finish a whole bottle when I am eating out. I was so upset and not feeling my food I left practically the whole bottle behind. All that for $60. Wasn't worth it! I blasted them on social media without tagging them and they hit me up asking for more info and to DM them. I hit them up promptly. They apologized and asked if I could give them my email so they could talk to me more about it first thing Monday. Well Monday came and pass folks and nothing. Unless we talking a refund I'm not having it. Don't eat here folks. Food is better at all the other places around this Silver Diner. Amazing how bad the quality diminished at this Silver Diner as the one we used to frequent at Lakeforest Mall before it was closed stayed having...
