Rio Playground — Attraction in Gaithersburg

If you're looking for a natural setting this isn't it. This park is integral to a popular local shopping area with lots of dining options, shopping, cinema, hotel and of course the park. The park is actually a walking trail around a lake that is likely man made, but it is a lovely setting for walking and dining. The side of the lake against the shopping/dining is all boardwalk style and has a couple bridges spanning ends of the lake but you can walk around as well. And it was perfect for pokemon go fest weekend. Tons of pokéstops and 4 gyms. Lots of benches for taking breaks or sitting and reading or people watching. It's a nice place to spend a beautiful summer afternoon. Doesn't get too crowded on most days and have plenty of things for kids to do (carousel, boating, used to have a playground which should be back soon). A great place to go for a walk after dinner or hanging out with friends. There is a walking loop that is 1km and surrounds the lake. There are often geese and ducks that you can feed from the gazebo. Occasionally the walking trail will be closed during exceptionally cold weather as the ground tends to freeze and become slippery.
