Copper Canyon Grill — Restaurant in Gaithersburg

When I use to work nearby, this was a place I frequented with coworkers. Haven't been here in years, but it was nice to come back. The place was decorated for the holidays which made it even nicer.

The restaurant has three major seating areas. The bar which has the bar and several tables around the bar. (We sat in a booth in this area.) The lower restaurant section and an enclosed section outdoors, which is pictured below. There is an outside seating area, but this was not open given it was pretty darn cold outside. Have eaten in the outside area before and it is awesome during the warmer months. Additionally, they have received approval to implement a dining pier section on the lake which should be interesting.

Fresh off of training, Victoria was our waitress. She was excellent and knew the menu and could make recommendations. We are fussy eaters and she was able to check with the chef and accomodate our needs. Overall, great service!

For dinner tonight we started with the daily soup special which was tomato bisque. Interestingly it had bacon in it which made it very flavorful and really tasty. Our son had the 16 oz prime rib and the picture is not altered. That's pretty rare! We enjoyed the Chicken Rotisserie Salad and Chicken Pot Pie. The Pot Pie was as delicious as it looked which hit the spot on the cold evening. A bottle of Oyster Bay and some Raspberry Ice Tea was the drink choice although they have a great wine selection and an even better wine cellar! The Raspberry Ice Tea was excellent. Unfortunately, no room for dessert.

Given the low ceilings where we were sitting it was a little loud, but overall it's a great atmosphere with various places to sit to accomodate your needs.

I had the opportunity to have lunch here today and it was awesome! I’m was so happy to find nearby parking; in a parking deck. It was a short walk to the restaurant. I was immediately seated. Although there wasn’t a huge crowd which, I loved. Our waitress was also a bartender, and she was very knowledgeable of the menu, and gave her suggestions of items to try from the menu. With it being my first visit to this restaurant, I appreciated her assistance. Many times, I go to a new restaurant and I will ask for suggestions, and sometimes the waiter only offer the daily specials or may have tried only one item from the menu. This makes me suspicious if they’re really giving me their honest opinion, but who am I to judge. It’s possible that they have. However, I loved that our waitress gave us multiple suggestions that she’s enjoyed from the menu. When the person I was having lunch with arrived, we ordered appetizers and the spinach dip with salsa and sour cream with chips on the side was delicious! I ordered the Big Meatloaf Stack and she had the Short Smoked Atlantic Salmon!! Both were delicious! I tasted a some of her macaroni and cheese and it was so rich and creamy! It was a plate of deliciousness! The big meatloaf stack was a lot of food! I had to take it home! Super delicious! I’ve never had meatloaf the way they made it, and I make a “mean” meatloaf! It was so flavorful, and the spicy pork sausages with the mixed cheeses added in, took this meatloaf to another level! I would highly recommend this restaurant! I cannot wait to return and try the Iron Skillet Cornbread because, that’s how my Granny...

Although food was good and staff was friendly, the service was very poor. We had made reservations for fathers day, when we arrived, we were seated at separate tables on opposite sides of restaurant because apparently they can't seat 10 people together so we were split into 4 and 6. Our waitress was friendly but disappeared so frequently that we had our father in law order drinks from his waiter who then brought them to our table. My entrée came out before my starter, my husband got his drink he ordered at the beginning after we had eaten and he had received 2 drinks from our other party by way of their waiter. A person cleaning tables came buy and just took plates we were still eating off of AS we were eating off of them, we just laughed and said "I guess we're done" lol. I could go on, based off of other reviews it could just have been a off day, eventhough it was fathers day, we were there early and it was not super busy, there were empty tables so no one was rushing around. We were not the only table having issues, the table next to us had 2 separate servers, different from ours and were trying to get the customers to split their bill so they could tip each server, it was not a good experience. The soup was good, the butter/spread that came with the cornbread was very gross, my husband had 2 old fashioned and they came in different glasses and looked/ tasted totally different, his burger looked good, the fries were delicious.
