The staff is great very pleasant. Nice breakfast edible. We have a Bonvoy account and we use them frequently cause my son is in college at TAMUG.
This trip I had issues with the parking. I had to pay for parking because people apparently use this parking lot for the beach too, that was on top of paying for my hotel room.
When I was there earlier this year parking was not part of the charges and I am confused as to what has changed, especially since my family is titanium Bonvoy members.
Secondly and scary, my cars gas tank was found popped open both nights I stayed. I parked up front by main office. The vehicle was locked and so the gas tank should not have been allowed to be opened, but it was and it was done twice. I know it wasn’t me forgetting, I last filled up on Friday and this was Saturday afternoon and Sunday early early morning, 2:00am, I heard a ruckus so I went to check on the car. We didn’t leave the hotel except for once on Saturday to go eat at 3:30pm. And there is no gas button that could have opened it. When the car is locked, the gas tank is locked.
Gas was siphoned, not a lot, 1/4 tank. I walk a lot so I’m outside a lot, I’m guessing that prevented me from losing a lot of gas, but I did tell the night staff and although she was sympathetic, there was no action taken as to what the problem was other than to tell me they didn’t see anything on the cameras. But she didn’t go look at the cameras either. I don’t believe that they did not see anything on the cameras. I think they did not check and I think they need to assure that the parking lot is safe for all the people staying there. I even walked outside with the woman in the middle of the night to show her that there was a vehicle blasting his music on the other side of the shrubbery, but she said she’s already been out there and she hadn’t seen any issues.
I shouldn’t have to worry about my vehicle when I’m down there visiting my son and I definitely shouldn’t have to pay for parking when it keeps getting broken into. We have had a Bonvoy account for so long.
I was shocked. They charged me $100 for two nights of parking for me and my son that’s insane and unacceptable because the parking lot isn’t safe. I love coming down to Galveston and staying at this Marriott. I’ve never had a problem in the past. I just hope that you use this information and figure out what the problem is And why cars in your parking lot get...
Read moreMy family of 5 and I went to this location for Memorial Day weekend. On the first night, upon returning from dinner at about 10pm, we came back to the hotel that had no electricity. Our room was on the 5th floor. I asked the front desk if they could move us to another property close by, which they said no. They said we are free to take our things and find another hotel on our own. Again, I was on the 5th floor, no elevator, 3 small kids and a mountain of luggage and 100lb cooler full of food and drinks. We decided to just stick it out and hope the power came back on. When we got into out room that night, there was a massive leak coming from the ceiling that flooded our room. Carpet was completely saturated and we use all the towels we had to keep it contained. I went back down to the front desk and they said there was nothing they could do to fix it at the moment. I told them to switch me rooms. The front desk attendant told me to leave my number and he would call me after speaking with the manager. I never received a call that night. So, we stayed in the room with no AC, lights, etc and water coming down from the ceiling all night. The power came back on early the next morning, thankfully. I went back down to the front desk to speak with the manager to discuss the issues from the night. The manager told me they would not refund the room because we stayed in it (with no AC and water all over our room). I have called the property numerous times and it is as if they are avoiding me. I can’t get a call back and they are doing NOTHING to resolve this issue. I have seen some bad customer service in my day, but this is the most egregious lack of customer support I have ever experienced. Don’t expect this property to do anything to accommodate you if there is a problem. I will be calling Marriot corporate to get this fixed.
As shown below, the property manager commented and said for me to contact them to come to a resolution. Well, I reached out, and as I suspected, CRICKETS…. I’d stay away...
Read moreThe rooms are large. We have gotten two queens and a pull out sofa and it has nearly a full size kitchen. Our first night there, we got put in a room and it stunked like, and i'm dog pee terribly. So we go down to get a new room and the new room smelled better, but the tv didn't work. Instead of the person at the front desk coming up to fix it, we were told supposedly what to do, and we messed with it for over an hour but it didn't work. We couldn't just call down and have them come up because the phone didn't work. So we have to go down every time there was any sort of problem or need. After an hour of messing with the t, v, we finally got it to work, but that was only after the woman came up.. by that time I didn't even want to watch It..the next day we went to the pool and it's absolutely freezing It's unreal how cold it is. I stayed at this hotel over the summer and it was just as freezing as well.. There's a huge building that blocks the sun, so it's just not ever going to get warm. If they wanted to improve the stay of their customers, they would heed ita bit. also, the hot tub was cold, so we went in to say something about that. And he told us he would take a look and come back and tell us, but he never came and talked to us.. but after a while, it did start working. So if you want a relaxing place that has a relaxing pool and hot tub, this is not the place for you.. we only stay there because the room was larger then most. But next time, we'll try somewhere else purely because of the pool and...
